@krepky Agreed! If I get it on PS3, all my friends will be use to the controllers; but if I get it on 360, we can all play it in my car
Special version of upcoming 3D fighting game to have art book and in-game swimsuit costumes; available only at GameStop outlets in North America.
Tecmo Koei has announced a collector's edition for the upcoming fighting game Dead or Alive 5.
The GameStop-exclusive collector's edition will contain a copy of the game, a hardcover art book, downloadable in-game swimsuit costumes for each of the female cast members, a poster featuring main character Kasumi, and a soundtrack CD. This version of the game will be packed in a customized steel casing.
The collector's edition is slightly different from the Japanese version, which contains eight character postcards and 10 character metal plates in addition to the aforementioned content. The GameStop-only collection will cost $79.99, while the Japanese version will cost 11,340 yen ($142). The downloadable swimsuits will also be available as paid DLC after the game's release on September 25.
Dead or Alive 5 features destructible arenas, a rock-paper-scissors fighting mechanic, and playable guest characters from Sega's Virtua Fighter like Akira and Sarah Bryant. For more information, check out GameSpot's coverage on the title.
i am so sick of people whining about NG 3 and how Itagaki's absence is the fault of it.As far as i am concerned NG 3 was mediocre but playable for the fans of the series but the fact it was like this doesn't have to do with Itagaki's departure from Team Ninja. They just screwed up it happens to the best of companies. BioWare for example screwed up with 2 major Games consistently and currently getting a lot of hate.If Team Ninja Nails this one it will shut the whining mouths of all those Itagaki-Horny ppl and i really hope they do so.At least so far the game looks sweet. You should all understand that even if it is one Name that takes the lion's share of fame from a game's Success (like Kojima or Itagaki) there's always a group of talented ppl behind that name backing it up.So have faith on those people and let them try to impress you.
Only one problem. No Itagaki means no good game. Ninja Gaiden 3? Trash. Dead or Alive without the misogynistic man himself to keep the quality high? Trash.
I love how developers and publishers complain about used game sales while continuing to make exclusive deals with Gamestop, the biggest retailer of used games.
Artbook.... artbook! ARTBOOK!!!!!
OMFG I love it when collector's editions have these, it makes it totally worth the extra $
Talk about overkill. It's a fighting game, why on earth would you want all this for nothing but the same scenario's over and over again? DOAXBV 1 and 2 were horrible games as well. You couldn't even actually play the game itself it was so boring. And, good luck getting an online match today. Il'l go play Sexy Beach 3 or 3D Sexvilla 2 where you actually get what you want, NAKED women, and not just tantalized here and there with boring gameplay, and spend 80 bucks for it to boot. Ridiculous.
Alpha 52 WAS SUCH A BITCH in D.O.A 4 hopefully she'll be playable in D.O.A. 5 and the charactors won't be so damn difficult to unlock like in the aforementioned D.O.A. 4
Just so you allz know one of the reasons for the cover art since it's so hated, is because the game features sweat now. Which is shown on the cover art you just can't see it on that picture.
Will only buy the game if Elliot (or similar girlyboi) is included. Also, he should get a swimsuit costume as well.
iv never understood these collectors editions ? there always overpriced and what do you really gain ?? a music cd from the game ooooo!!! the games a really good game however, my favorite rivaling mk and sf. DOA is fast and always delivers, had it right from the dream cast version, which still looks good today, though the frame rate on the dated machine showing now.
@itchyflop agreed. That stuff is usually giving to us for free by Atlus. They need to at least put effort into a CE of game. If they want fans to spend extra.
Weird :D I liked the box-art. Nice and simple. It doesn't give any hints that this is a fighting game, no. But its elegant.
Well, there is no question about its sex appeal. :) I am tempted to get this edition even though I don't play DOA or even fighting games.
@T_REX305 I agree it looks like some box art for some type of computer generated hentai game. Im still buying the game but man that box art is creepy.
@TheTHCGamer The box art is not creepy. It's just horrible. Have you seen a hentai box art? Do I really have to post a link in here?
I don't know I don't tink the box art is that terrible. I mean it's simple but thats it.
@wolfgang12193 To each their own, but considering DOA 1-4 had better covers, I will reserved my right to think this is an ugly box art.
Oh, I've seen what they look like! Nothing a well-refined Google search can't find.
@deviant74 Mind if i come over sometime and watch them play volleyball?
If it comes with a standard PS3 or Xbox360 case i might get it. If it's just one of those big tin can things with the game disc just floating around inside it then no.
A little late on the news, I'm afraid. I pre-ordered this days ago, and it was announced a few days before that.
Shifting away from everyone's thoughts in the swimsuits and the... sensuality of the series for a moment, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this not only because the game itself has been on the top of my list for months, but also because I have a tough time ignoring things like artbooks and soundtracks nowadays. To me, that was worth the additional $20 (assuming both of those things have a fair amount of content in them), and the DLC, poster, and casing are just gravy for me.
But yeah... it's DOA, so there's bound to be discussions about the *ahem* physical appearances of the female characters, regardless of it Team Ninja draws attention to it or not at this point. Can't be helped at this point, but that doesn't mean a great fighting experience can't be had, which is what I'm looking forward to here.
I agree on the soundtrack and artbook. I think an extra 20 bucks is worth it. And I don't know why people make such a fuss about the females looks. I mean isn't that kind of look for females in all fighting games, if you really think about it and it's not a bad thing.
....For me i will get 2 copies, Because i wont regret my self like what happened with soul caliber 5 collector edition.
I gonna miss the days when i played "DOA" for hours just to unlock a new outfit.
but now they're putting all the fun as a pre-order bonus.
what's the point of keep playing this for hours now??
@tendokasumiDon't worry i'm sure theres still some costumes and hopefully characters to unlock
@tendokasumi ...all of the other costumes, perhaps?
@Dragon_Nexus Who would want to unlock other costumes when you already have bikinis ?I too wish they were available to all. Maybe you could get them by finishing the arcade mode on max difficulty without retries.
IF Tecmo ever releases the legendary nude patch version of beach volleyball Ill buy it. This one on the other hand, ah who am I kidding despite Ninja Gaiden 3 I love Tecmo, Im buying this.
I hope they don't dumb this down to appeal to the masses. If it's not challenging iI'm not buying it.
@666Rich666 Well the demo didn't sell me; it spent the the whole time trying to force you to use the special arena attacks like that was the only selling point they could think of. We'll see, but if it's as thin as NG3 turned out it will probably be the first of the series I don't play.
I don't know I played for hours with my friend on the demo and we ended up learning combos and such and it started getting really intense.
