Dead Rising 3 to tackle illegal immigration - Report

hmm people are dying and trying to escape the drugwar i mexico..created by the us and u call them imigrants, i would call them warvictims. now capcom use this ina game?!?! how disrespect can u get, last month they found a massgrave!! My god , i am just stunned.

I'd rather see them make the countdown timer optional. Even though it can be frustrating to the point of profanity, there's a part of me that likes the timer. It helps to keep me on task, More importantly, it adds a sense of urgency and tension to the game. (Though, part of me would like to see that accomplished in other ways.) However, once I've beaten the game, or if the timer keeps killing me, it'd be nice to have the option to play through the game with it switched off. Maybe they could provide incentive to play with the timer on by having certain areas - each with their own secret weapons, side missions, psychopath bosses, etc. - that can only be accessed when the countdown reaches specific times. Perhaps interrupt gameplay with cutscenes that show what's happening elsewhere in the town, like zombies swelling to a critical mass point where they tear down a fence and come spilling into the town, thereby opening up that otherwise fenced-off area. Or a fleeing family getting swarmed by zombies and crashing their car into a building, busting a hole through the wall that then grants the player access to a building full of goodies and side missions and maybe a hidden psychopath battle. But if you don't play with the timer, those events don't happen and those areas remain off limits. That'd give players a reason to play through with the timer, while also helping the world feel more organic. That, to me, seems like the ideal compromise.

For the love of God remove that stupid timer from the game, it sucks all the fun out of it. Maybe I don't want to play the game multiple times to be able to experience everything. Look at games like GTA or Skyrim!

@pixeladdict where does it say anything about a resort? Dead Rising 2 was actually the one at a resort, and it came out before Dead Island

Well they would have to choose a new protagonist. That is unless if they are all part of the same story arc? Then which story is the one that happened in DR2? Frank's or Chuck's?

if its going to be the same as 2 theres no point in getting a reskined game but if they make some noticeable changes then we will see.

How about letting us destroy hordes of illegal immigrants trying to cross a newly made electric border fence. Kind of like Dead Rising meets Tower defense

Make it completely a free-roam game like gta, with larger world, more quests and no time limit stuff... then i reconsider buying DR3.

This is certainly an issue that needs tackling, but when games/movies like this try to, they end up just being lame. The message just never seems to mesh properly with the over-the-top violence and crazy action.

I hope Chuck makes an appearance at least. It's nice to see fictional dads that aren't idiots who need a woman to take care of their children and get through everyday life like TV portrays.

I don't think people who haven't played much of DR1 and DR2 realize that the series actually is known for having prominent sociopolitical themes. The first one was an extremely elegant comment on American consumerism. The second focused on greed and the obsession of having money. So its only natural that the third game would follow suit and tackle a new theme.

@thedarklinglord You sound like you expect a little too much from Capcom of all people. Sure they may completely overhaul something every once in a while (RE4 being a prime example) but look at most of everything else in their library. Resident Evil 1,2, 3, and Code Veronica were near identical in playstyle, as is almost any other franchise they own. Will it be identical to DR1 and 2? Sure, but I'm sure it will make enough new additions/improvements to actually feel like a new installment. Also people seem to forget that Off The Record was still called Dead Rising for a reason. Yes OtR was more of the same, but that should have been a given seeing as how the title blatantly tells you it's the same game and not an actual sequel. However the improvements between DR1 and 2 were quite sufficient. Weapon creation, Co-op, Multiplayer mode, completely different skill moves, and improved gunplay were quite enough to justify a new game in my eyes. If they can add the same amount of improvements in DR3 then things will be all good.

Sounds good, DR2 was a really fun game, and I'm looking forward to DR3. Now since they're saying that Frank West is going to have a new adventure, it smells like another prologue. If that's the case I'm cool with that too, as long as it's not another set of XBL exclusives.

As a fan of the series and a lover of all things zombie, I hate to say it but this really sounds like just more of the same. And coming so soon after Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record...I don't hold out much hope that there will be much in the way of improvements or innovations. I was really hoping the next installment would be a grander, more ambitious endeavor rather than a simple location and/or protagonist swap. Also, I would have liked them to build the game with 2-player co-op in mind. (Gathering pieces of a vehicle just screams Toejam & Earl to me, and that's still one of my all-time favorite co-op games.) It'd be even more appealing if they designed it with two separate storylines that could be played through single player, but that also overlap and entwine in a way that makes co-op a more natural and enriching experience. Even better if they could find a way to expand that to, say, a 4-player co-op scheme, creating an open world/sandbox environment wherein players aren't tethered to each other, while giving players a lengthy checklist of "missions" to accomplish - from finding parts for their escape vehicle to gathering survival supplies to rescuing survivors - that they can either divide amongst individual players, pair up and tackle in teams, or conquer as a group. There's so much more they could do with this series. I hate the thought of them driving it into the ground by churning out more of the same, especially so soon after the last one.

Too bad that everyone loves "illegals" now except a select few. Even that corrupt Republican Gingrinch likes them.

Dead Rising fanboy here. Count me in. Hey, say what you want about this series. It still makes more improvements/additions than CoD ever does with each new installment, yet people eat those games up all the time.

Not to sound like a broken record but, Monster Hunter P3 English version. Capcom has released so many games here, I just wish they'd hurry up and release that one title. :(

Having "an undercurrent of themes" is pretty different from directly tackling a topic. I guess that's probably for the best because Dead Rising doesn't exactly seem like the best franchise to address complex political issues.
