Tenth birthday for franchise means sweet gift for fans; A dozen games from the series for $40 this February.
It may be hard for fans of real-time strategy PC games to fathom, but the Command & Conquer series is a decade old. In commemoration of the big one-oh for the series, publisher Electronic Arts is offering a dozen PC Command & Conquer games, spanning 1995-2003, in one convenient package. The collection, titled Command & Conquer The First Decade, hits stores in February, and it carries a price tag of $39.99.
The pack includes several stand-alone games, as well as their respective expansions. It's not just tanks versus jets, either. The franchise's varied universes are included, such as the sci-fi setting of the Tiberium Sun series, the alternate history of the Red Alert chapters, and the new modern warfare of Generals.
In addition to the games, a bonus DVD includes plenty of intel on the franchise. Six video features are planned for the DVD, including an interview with Louis Castle, cofounder of the series' birthplace, Westwood Studios. C&C veterans will also have their opportunities to be included in the DVD, as EA looks for the biggest fans of the series. To find out more details on the contest and to have a chance to show the world what a true C&C fan is, head to the series' Web site.
All games included in Command & Conquer The First Decade are rated T for Teen.
Included in the pack are:
Command & Conquer (August 1995)
Command & Conquer The Covert Operations (April 1996)
Command & Conquer Red Alert (October 1996)
Command & Conquer Red Alert The Aftermath (September 1997)
Command & Conquer Red Alert Counterstrike (March 1997)
Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun (August 1999)
Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm (February 2000)
Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 (October 2000)
Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge (October 2001)
Command & Conquer Renegade (February 2002)
Command & Conquer Generals (February 2003)
Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour (September 2003)
Command and conquer games where better back then than they are now. my all time favourite is definitely tiberian sun. it was brilliant and still is. buy c&c generals isn't as good as tiberian sun or red alert/yuris revenge. and the new game tiberum wars, i havent played it yet. IS IT ANY GOOD OR HAVE C&C LET US DOWN OR WHAT??????????
I never knew that Generals was that close to the release date of Renegade I thought that it was sometime in 2004 that it was released (o well you learn something new everyday)
It is ok to make this edition for those who discover C&C now, or missed some of the older stuff. But when are we getting something new???
I started playing Command and Conquer when it was 1st released way back in the day, and over the years have lost or gotten rid of the games over time. Now, with this awesome collection, I can have them ALL in one cheap bundle ( I bought it for $36.98 at Wal-Mart ). The fact that it's a DVD collection is even better, as it means way easier installation ( I was worried I would have 12 or more discs to mess with ) Great Value!!
I have always bin a c&c fan....but i haven't had a chance to play any of em except Red alert2. it just drove me wild! i mean...wow! i was never a strategy kind of guy. now that i have the Fist Decade i vote this series to be my favourite and only series of strategy games that has won my gaming heart. i am goin' to write my own reviews to my c&c games once I get the time!
my question is does it offer TCP-IP for the older titles? if not, then i dont have a reason to buy it (already own the normal and/or gold versions)
awsome. I cant wait for this to come out. I been looking everywhere for CC The Covert Ops. and Red Alert the counter strike.
