EA goes electro for soccer soundtrack

By Jim Welte

Thievery Corp., Brazilian Girls, Andy Caldwell, Thunderball, Osunlade tabbed for UEFA Champions League's sonic backdrop.

Looking to bring an electro-lounge vibe to its forthcoming UEFA Champions League soccer game, Electronic Arts has tabbed some of the genre's heavyweights for its soundtrack.

EA today unveiled the track listing for the sonic backdrop of the 2006-2007 version of the game, with big names like Washington, DC-based dub/downtempo duo Thievery Corporation and the eclectic Brazilian Girls on board.

The 11-track album also includes acclaimed producers such as Andy Caldwell, Bonobo, and Osunlade, as well as house remixes of Latin legends such as Ray Barretto and Cal Tjader.

UEFA Champions League is based on the prestigious European club soccer tournament of the same name and is set to hit stores March 20 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

" That's the thing about EA.. Always giving us great soundtrack! " I hope that statement is meant to be gushing sarcasm.

Nice not really into soccer games, but it totally seems like they got the soundtrack down for a good soccer game.s Soccer and electro music go hand in hand at least in my mind. I'm pretty sure one of my boys will grab the game, so i'll probally check it out.

Any techno junkies thinking about looking up this tracklist to see if it's any good, don't bother. It's all crappy chilled out elevator/spanish stuff. Even the Yunus Guvenen track is pretty chilled out.

This isn't that big of story. Nice change though. I hate soccer games overall, i only have about 4 in my library.

wow, this is quite daring for EA. All things considered of course.

I know of 1, Yunus Guvenen. DJ Sasha spins his tune "Mass Schizophrenia" all the time. Haven't heard Indigo though.
