Series producer Shigesato Itoi opens a special page for new GBA sequel, plans updates with details leading up to April Japanese release.
TOKYO--Last month, producer Shigasato Itoi revealed through his official Web site that the next installment in his Mother role-playing series (known as Earthbound in North America) would be released in Japan on April 20. Little is known about the Game Boy Advance sequel beyond its release date and title--Mother 3--but that's apparently going to change this week.
Today, Itoi has launched a special section of his site dedicated to Mother 3, which will be used for disclosing first details on the game. The first details aren't set to go up until tomorrow, but fans of the series may want to check it out regularly, as Itoi plans to leak details little by little.
Wish i still had my earthbound... I had the whole shabang, (yes, the big ol' box set with the guide and everything) Sigh... ah well, at least I still have chrono trigger. Lookin forward to this release, even though I doubt i'll ever buy a GBA... or any portable game thing for that matter.
I cant wait ! It should be awesome. Im glad it will be on the game boy advance, that makes it a lot like the old version.
It's finally coming... A tear is in my eye! But seriousley, this is veeeery long awaited for myself and many others. And I'm kinda relieved that it will be a GBA title, because GBA is alot like the SNES, so it will definately have that old school feel to it. And hopefully this game will kick as much ass as Earthbound 1-2
EarthBound kicked butt! My favorite RPG to play! I was psyched when a sequel was advertised and flaunted to be released on the N64 as one of the first games, and then it kinda vanished...I've always wished there was a sequel not just so I can play it, but just because the building they are writing the sequel in is in the first game!
Earthbound was my absolute favorite RPG of the 16-bit era. I sure hope they bring this and the orginal to the States. Perhaps in a 2 for 1 package. Please.. ..
Earthbond was the best RPG on the SNES.... (that's right, I said it.) I am so glad I held on to my copy =)
:D i was hoping it'd be either the GBA or DS. we need more good RPGs on the portable systems that aren't just final fantasy remakes.
Woot! It won't be coming here but... :P Oh well. That's what happens when you don't properly market a video game (EarthBound 1)
It better come here, like I said last time the Mother 3 news was up weeks ago, if they released all 3 on 1 cart in the U.S. they would have huge sales...
I would've liked it on DS more also. The dual screen's and larger resolutions would've looked nicer. There could've been touch screen menu navigation and battling, and probably movement control also. But GBA's cool too. What are the chances we actually get it here though, haven't they gotten Mother ! & 2 on GBA also? I think at one point we were supposed to get that too, but that never happened.
Personally I'm kind of happy its on GBA. Having it on gba will hold it closer to the level that the SNES version was. If it was to be released on DS, they would try to add/change too much about the game to make it fit the platform better, and usually when sequels stray to far from the original, they aren't nearly as great.
GBA.... I wish it was for the DS. But I'll take it, Earthbound was an amazingly addicting game back in the day.
