Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes is already dead - FUBAR, if you will. Keep it up EA, another step towards your demise! :D
EA's free-to-play label hits 25 million users
Battlefield Heroes and Need for Speed World hit 10 million each this month; Battlefield: Play 4Free, Dragon Age: Legends, Battleforge, and Lord of Ultima combine for 5M.
In addition to success with paid games like Star Wars: The Old Republic and Battlefield 3, which have racked up users by the millions, Electronic Arts' free-to-play family is flourishing. Today, the California gaming giant announced that its free-to-play suite of titles have reached a total combined user base of 25 million.
According to EA, its most pronounced free-to-play success came from Battlefield Heroes and Need for Speed World, which each reached 10 million registered players earlier this month. Additionally, the EA free-to-play games Battlefield: Play4Free, Dragon Age: Legends, Battleforge, and Lord of Ultima combined to reach 5 million registered players.
On top of that, EA parsed statistics from Battlefield Heroes, saying more than 8 billion bullets have been fired since launch, with about 532 million kills recorded. Concerning Need for Speed World, EA said more than 15 million races and 22 million pursuits are recorded every month, and players are flocking to the game from 237 countries.
EA's free-to-play game roster is continuing to swell. Forthcoming titles under the banner include Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances and Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes, which are both presently in beta.
