Fresh round of add-on packs for Obsidian's postapocalyptic RPG begins with Honest Hearts, followed by Old World Blues in June, Lonesome Road in July; $10 price tag.
Exposure is always a concern with nuclear fallout, and Bethesda succeeded not at all in avoiding it with New Vegas' upcoming downloadable content packs. In January, word slipped out that its first add-on--Dead Money--would be followed by three more DLC packs, a fact that Bethesda confirmed in early February. Today, the publisher detailed just what gamers can expect from the add-on packs.
Honest Hearts will lead the three-pack, arriving for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on May 17. The action takes place in Utah's Zion National Park and sees gamers leading an expedition that is swamped by a roving tribal war party. Players are then charged with escaping to the Mojave, battling the belligerent nomads in the process.
In June, Bethesda will release Old World Blues. The add-on pack sees gamers forced into partaking in a gruesome science experiment that also offers a closer look at the Mojave's mutated-monster contingent. Gamers will be presented with the option of battling the maniacal scientists or joining with them to fend off "an even greater threat."
Lastly, the Lonesome Road DLC will drop in July. In it, gamers will be contacted by the original Courier Six, who refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the beginning of the game. Gamers will be offered the reason for his refusal if they agree to venture into the Divide, which has been ravaged by earthquakes and hurricanes.
Developed by the recently layoff-struck Obsidian Entertainment, the three add-on packs will each cost $10 (800 Microsoft points). All three are set for simultaneous release for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on their respective ship dates.

LOVE the Fallout games! This should be the future of gaming. Make a basic platform and sell many many add ons. The landscapes on Fallout games are amazing and they could keep creating new missions and environments for the exsisting games! If these are as good as Point Lookout they will be worth the money!

@Solamon I didn't even manage to complete the game to see the credits. I gave up! I was tired of all the minor issues. There were just too many and in the end, they got to be too annoying. Frame rate stutters... micro freezes in VATS... full on crashes in loading screens... As for the QA, if I'm not mistaken, NV was outsourced to an external testing company (actually, a buddy of mine works at said company and told me about it). Mind you, they only took care of localization, so I'm not sure who took care of gameplay. Perhaps it was another company... In any case, that would explain the lack of names in the credits.
Hopefully the DLC is better than Dead Money. While it was fun I couldn't help but to think how similar but-oh-so-not-as-interesting as The Pitt was. That might just be me because I live close to Pittsburg and thought it was cool to see it in a game. Ashur's tower was obviously inspired from Pitt University's Tower of Learning. Out of all the Fallout 3 DLC my favorite was Point Lookout and they should aim to surpass that. However, if Dead Money is any indication of what the furture DLCs are like I see nothing but dissappointment. Then again, Operation Anchorage was the worst of 3's DLCs and it was the first BUT it did give you the best armor in the game upon completion. Power armor that never needs repaired, what can beat that? Perhaps a gatling laser that never needs repaired....
@008Zulu How is the game broken? They've released a number of patches and even fixed things I never expected them to fix like applying mods to the Weathered 10mm Pistol, a pre-order bonus! If the game's running slowly or locking up, just clear the system cache. It's certainly annoying, but that would always solve all my frame-rate and freezing issues. Plus, it's not like other games (namely Bioshock) haven't given me similar troubles.
Well looks like my plan to play Fallout New Vegas one last time will have to wait until July when all the DLC is out =\
Looks like I'll be downloading Honest Hearts and Dead Money together hopefully psn will be back up by then. Also I hope they added new songs, I liked the music in New Vegas but there not enough of it, it sounds like they repeat ever ten minutes.
They don't need to continue the main story-line. It was great! It doesn't kill off your character in some undignified manner because it's his "destiny," does it?
The DLC doesn't need to continue the main story for it to be great. Look at Mothership Zeta, that was a nice DLC, so was Point lookout. None of those continued the main story. Point lookout was the best DLC I think.
Oh yes finally some info on the DLC. I cannot beleive people keep asking if they will continue the story. They have already confirmed all of the EDLC coming out will not continue the store after the main quest is over.
@nico11110000 I read that there will be no downloadable content that continues the story in New Vegas. I completely agree with you, they definitely should.
Don't know about this. I never finished the game as it never held me, although the changes to the weapons and armour were an improvement. I think I will pass on any of the DLC.
@nico11110000, Nope Obsidian have confirmed that NO DLC will continue the game after you finnish the story line.
I hope one of these DLC allows you to continue playing when you finish the storyline. Like in fallout 3.
I'm ready for this, I'm just about to finish Dead Money. But I never fully finished the game.
Its all building up to The Lonesome Road. I have no idea what to expect from it, but I expect to be given an epic ending.
@Speuj: Maybe I just got lucky. Did you play the game on the PC? I hear that was the buggiest of the 3 versions. Like I said in the first post, in 110 hours of game time my wife and I came across very few bugs. My co-worker played through the game simultaneously on the PS3 and he didn't have any serious problems either. One thing that I did notice however... and it kind of got me mad... did you see in the end credits that only 3 people are listed as Quality Assurance / Testers? Seems a bit small for a game as large as this, doesn't it?
Quit making DLC and fix the game first. I guarantee people will be more impressed with you fixing the game even if the DLC were nothing but boobs.

They produce so many mega hits yet they're always walking a fine line for some reason. I suppose it's because they spend the money necessary to polish their games to perfection.
I hate to say it but I didn't care much for New Vegas. I beat the game twice but I have no desire to SUFFER the game any further. Dead Money had a good story but it wasn't much fun due to the nature of it and the poor lighting, I had the brightness all the way up and still couldn't see jack in some spots.
I was gonna wait till GOTY but then my dumb brother bought it from games on demand or whatever.... No i have to play it now and then buy DLC... :(
with this game saving every time you walk outside is needed in case it freezes. but theres times when you sell somehing you needed and reload thats my only downside about getting this
Its gonna be so sweet when i get the GOTY edition. Not making the same mistake like i did with FO3.
@freedomspopular I agree. DLC is way too overpriced with all the more playtime you get with it, which is usually one afternoon if that. $5 would be more reasonable for that amount of content.
