This game is probably dead otherwise they would announce that it comes to X360 too.so if it what it takes to play this game then by all means Square do it.

Souces tell Kotaku long-delayed action role-playing game from Square Enix has been quietly shuttered.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which has seen several delays since its initial development alongside 2010's Final Fantasy XIII, may finally be done for. Work on the action role-playing game may have been quietly shuttered, according to several anonymous sources who spoke to Kotaku.
The sources claimed the game was officially canceled several weeks ago, but Square Enix decided to refrain from a public announcement. The game did not appear among the publisher's several other titles at its Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference and floor show, nor was it present at the previous year's Tokyo Game Show. Even before then, the game's development status was the cause of some confusion.
Other Kotaku sources claimed the game's development and resources had been folded back into development of another numerical Final Fantasy. GameSpot has requested comment from Square Enix but did not receive a response as of publication.

Now (after starting this game and leaving the fans with expectations) Square Enix is starting to examine better the games it makes. Square... if you wanna make a big change about the next FF games, AT LEAST FINISH THIS GAME ALREADY!
I don't think they have it in them to finish this game against the amount of hype and extremely high expectations for it. After the FF14 fiasco, they're less confident about their FF games. They should shift their focus on other IP's.

GameSpot/GameFaqs took down the FF Versus XIII Forum. Guess they believed its still canceled when SE says otherwise. I'm beginning to hate GameSpot/GameFaqs because GS wants all to go to GameFaws to post topics. GS should make there own Game Forums so we don't have to go to GF just to post topics. Guess I will go to Ign and PS3Trophies.org for my gaming news.

Lol, its funny I just log in gamespot to say what is new and i found this article. What is funny is that this game is the reason i stop playing video games, i just waited so much for this game to come, and one day i realize that its being almost 8 years since i first saw it and i thought to myself, what am i doing with my live... funny that now its cancelled, or is just probably square enix doing their crappy publicity so people beg them not to cancel it and then show it has ff 15... I hate you square enix!

They'll probably take a lot of the elements from this game (or maybe even a great amount of them) and put them into a new numerical title.
Honestly this might be a good idea. It kinda seemed dumb at this point to release the game with the name FFXIII on the title, long after the original came out, and with very little to do with said game. What's already been done with Versus XIII will probably become Final Fantasy XV, and it will be stronger for it in my opinion.
1 Like This is sad if true. I was so hyped when the game was first revealed at E3 06. After watching the Heavy Rain and FF vs XIII trailer I was convinced to purchase a PS3. After so many years have passed, it's been nothing but delays and disappointing news. A dark, mature, open world Final Fantasy sounds too good to be true.
i wasnt impressed with 13 or 13-2. glad they decided to can it. they should work on something different then this stupid 13 series crap....
shame, although the whole affair stank for a while so its no surprise.
what I dont understand is why SE doesnt delve into their previous library to find some inspiration , instead of just another FF game, SE has a library of franchises most developers would kill for , so its a shame they are not using this.
and yes, Im aware FF is the big money maker, but given the quality of the last few FF games Ive played, id say its time to rethink things.
I stopped caring about this series after its time on the NES. Tried a few games in the PS and PS2 era, but it's just not the same.
There's better gaming to be done so I'm cool with it.
@sieg6529 Have you played the FF games with the exception of FFX - 2 and FFXIII -2 they are all stand alone titles.
@waffles89 I've played most of the FF games, starting on my SNES with FF3. I tried FFX-2 and it made me very, very sad. Their best work is on standalone games, and there it should stay.

GOOD!! Any Final Fantasy with the XIII label should just be thrown in an incinerator! Just move along to XV and make it a great one please!

1 Like They probably don't know if they're reliable or not considering it wasn't gamespot's sources, it was anonymous sources speaking to kotaku.
It would be a shame to see a game like this go down the drain, especially when it's been in development cycle of 6 years. IF and that's a big IF they have canned it, then their reputation will shot to be pieces with the fans. Well some would refute that and say they already have shot their reputation to pieces with some of the FF games.
However should it be recycled as FF XV, then it would be interesting to see what they do with it. As they have already stated, they are dissatisfied with the current generations technological limitations.

@BigAl519 I suggest you read what I stated again. More clearly this time. Some weren't happy with FF 14, it was a disaster, or do you discount that?.
@BigAl519 lmao, I understand my own post, unlike you who clearly doesn't understand the reference made to it. I made it quite clear that some weren't happy with other FF games. XIII being an obvious one since you (and many others) have shown displeasure at it, so why state the obvious. FF XIV being another example of it being a disaster, which you weren't aware of by the looks of it. I stand by with what I stated, read it and understand what am getting at.
@ChronoJ01 lmao, when did FF XIV come into any of this? You start off about the canning of a FFXIII game(thank god), state that some people think other FF games ruined their rep and went on about FFXV. At least be capable of understanding your own post before telling others to read it more clearly.
