Game collection asking for $550,000

eBay listing for 30-year trove of 6,850 games, 330 consoles, 220 controllers, and 185 accessories seeking more than half a million.
eBay user "videogames.museum" is unloading a trove of 6,850 games, 330 consoles, 220 controllers, and 185 accessories, with bidding starting at $550,000.
The collection has no offers thus far.
The eBay user explained that the collection is the result of more than 30 years of collecting games. "I just have too much things and the space to store them is finished long ago."
The user, who lives in Milan, Italy, spent more than eight hours a day for the past two months simply taking pictures and cataloging the inventory.
The listing includes various collector's items, including the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles pearl white GameCube, the Metal Gear limited-edition PSP, the Hitachi Gamenavi Sega Saturn, and both of the Bio Hazard Dreamcast systems in red and blue. Last year, a French game collector's eBay listing for more than 7,000 games across 22 systems sold for over $1.3 million.

I'd make an 8 story tower, with all consoles on top---you just grab a game or two on the way up...playing atop your open air tower over-looking Italy.

@gargungulunk Looking at the link, most of this stuff looks mint or near mint condition. Not sure why he would sell this.
@Vengentz @gargungulunk Probably been collecting all these years for the sole purpose of cashing in his chips at some point, lets face it if some one does pay half a mill for it then its been one hell of an investment.
Why are they using ebay for this. So much of it is just going to ebay when they could do it so many other ways.

But what confuses me is that it says he's got 330 consoles, but only 220 controllers for them. He's missing a lot of controllers, unless those 330 consoles includes handhelds.
@JLCrogue well no they wont all be different consoles, he might for example have 10 xbox360's, one could be halo limited edition, another gow etc. so the same controller would work on 10 of his consoles. Also he probably has quite a few handhelds in that collection.
@JLCrogue Maybe he means additional controllers past the one required to play the system.
@JLCrogue Handhelds don't need controllers, they are the controllers. At least that is my guess anyway.

If I had this collection, I would try to create a local museum for it, because that would be pretty dang awesome.

You would think with taking 2 months to catalogue and take pictures of the whole collection that the seller would have taken the time to spellcheck his listing and, I don't know, maybe make paragraph breaks. I know he's from Italy, but come on.
Scary price tag, but all things considered I guess it's not unusual. I'd like the CC Edition Gamecube myself lol.
330 consoles, but only 220 controllers. That's awkward. Obviously, many of those consoles are repeats thus not needing another set of controllers, but it still sounds awkward. You'd think he'd have one per at the very least.
I have probably close to that amount of games on my pc alone only taking up hard drive space. And I still have not been able to fill my 20 terabytes of hard disk storage.
I think a museum should make a bid for this - am sure there's lots of collectibles there worth showcasing to the public
Just can't see an individual buying this unless he's got truckloads of disposable income and 2 lifetimes to finish playing all of it
NErd.....you actually need space to store so many games, not to mention the amount of time wasted. TY, I'll stick to my Roms. Nostalgia is a thing of the past and such feelins cannot be reborn by playing a authentic vintage console.

Opportunities like these don't come around every day. With a collection like this people can observe every game, console, and accessory ever created starting from the beginning.
I shouldn't have sold my first nintendo, super nintendo, sega or playstation to gamestop.
1 Like Some people dont get that if you buy this you are a collector. You will do the same thing as him, basically have the games and consoles on display. You are not actually buying this collection to play it.
