Rockstar Games' 2004 open-world action game reborn on PlayStation 3 December 11; price not announced.
GTA: San Andreas was rated for the PS3 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in October, suggesting the game was to be rereleased on Sony's new platform.
The 2004 PlayStation 2 game is not the first GTA title to arrive for the PS3. It follows Grand Theft Auto III, which came to the PS3 in late September this year. Additionally, it may not be the last, as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was also rated (then rerated) for the PS3.
anyone know if its goin to be an hd remake wit trophies? i hope so, otherwise I'll just have to play the shit outta gta sa all over again.

@SwimSwimHungry in some respects i agree but hey you pc boys pay more for your systems in the first place and upgrading them. Though i think i will be getting a kick as pc instead of the next gen console.
@itchyflop I bought a medium-end PC in late 2008 for less than what a current-gen console would cost. It runs everything nicely. Although, I've been a retro gamer in recent years so I don't know how it would run newer games that are all about graphics like FarCry 3, Crysys 2 or Battlefield 3.
@itchyflop By retro I meant old MS-DOS classics i grew up with from '89 to '94.
The freshest game I played is probably Max Payne 3. All I remember about the settings is that I had trouble adjusting the resolution so I ended up editing an XML file to set it properly.
@SwimSwimHungry when you say "nicely" do you mean ultra?? i know what your saying, though it should run the older games no problem. I think it may struggle with the bf3's and other newer titles now. What other retro titles you have man ?? :)
So nothing special about this, it's just a copy and paste kind of deal? No remake or added trophies... well for $10 I still might get it considering I don't have my PS2 anymore.
@ozzman69th You won't get GTA 4 graphics but might get trophies. (Might be smoother, considering it's also out on PC, I'm thinking it will be)
@VenkmanPHD It's obviously just a ps2 classics title. If they were doing an HD remake, it would have been news a long time ago.
DAMNIT SONY!!!! If it comes to it, I may just have to get VC and SA for the PS3. WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME WITH THESE THINGS! I should have never gotten rid of my PS2
LOL my 1st gen ps3 has Backward compatibility. I still have GTA:SA for ps2... And it Still works!!! BOO YAA
I'm a big Sony fan but it's really disappointing to see them cut backwards compatibility out of the ps3 and then start reselling ps2 games as digital downloads on the playstation store. I'm sure there are plenty of ps3 owners that still have San Andreas on a ps2 disc but will be forced into buying it again in order to play it on their ps3. A very unethical cash grab. The whole backwards compatibility issue was handled very poorly by Sony this gen. Hopefully it's not a problem with ps4.
Might have considered buying except I got it during the Steam sale a couple weeks ago, so I can play it in higher-res with mods. A real PS3 or 360 port with HD graphics and Trophies/Achievements would be nice though, since GTA is the type of game I prefer to play relaxed on a couch, not hunched in front of a monitor.
Weird that this came before vice city but cool for people waiting for this! Still have my original copies, so I'll save the harddrive space thanks!
this game is the only reason left why I still have my ps2 hooked up and if it is for $10 might just have to buy it so I can put my ps2 away btw I still play this game every once in a while it may not look as good has gta4 but it is a MUCH better game
Vita compatible and i would be all over this otherwise i still have my PS2 and all the games ive ever owned
I would have wanted an HD collection and not the same port. Sadly it won't happen. It was playable but still needed improvements. What a shame.
@zzamaro im getting sick of these "i want an HD collection" comments... if you were smart.. you would know that's not happening
@thelostkin @zzamaro and if you were smart you'd know that after they're done making money off straight ports to ps3 and iOS the next logical step is an hd trilogy. It's likely to happen but it's a ways off.

It seems that someone never heard of GTA 4 or GTA 5.
@BrunoFurstBrito They're talking about the PS2 GTAs coming to PS3.
@BrunoFurstBrito Obviously he meant re released for the PS3 don't be a wise ass.
