Single-player, cooperative-multiplayer sample takes soldiers through the game's second mission in Mexico City.
Many Xbox 360 owners waited (im)patiently for a demo of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter to hit Xbox Live, which finally came almost a month after the game was released in retail. The PC version of GRAW is assaulting stores on May 2, but unlike the Xbox 360 crowd, the PC cyber-soldiers won't be left waiting for a taste.
A 544.5MB demo of GRAW for the PC is now available for download from GameSpot. The demo is a single-player romp through the game's second level, but those with friends in close places can play four-player cooperative over LAN. Set in Mexico City, gamers will take on terrorists who have taken the presidents of Mexico and the US hostage.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is rated T for Teen and will retail on the PC for $49.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
I really enjoyed the first Ghost Recon so I'll give this a shot. Although my brother said the XBox version was lame. Well not lame, he used a several more "colorful" words.
As for BF2142, sadly no...It's essentially based on the BF2 engine with better explosions and some tweaks.
Nice rig, and my speeds must have been because of a) my complete membership and b) I am da man ;) As for the PhysX card, ym supplier has given me 3 different models: entry level, mid range and high end, although only one will be available. As for the supported games, if you check their website, there are other games that will be using this technology, such as Crysis, UT2007, anything using the Unreal 3 engine and many more to come. If you're willing to spend that amount on either other processors, and are a hardcore PC gamer, I have a feeling you will eventually want this little piece of hardware: 300 calculations compared to over 40,000...seems like a seller to me, but only game development will tlel whether it's worth the cost. PEACE
Great, a GRAW DEMO! BTW, Cesar, this is not like the X360 version - quite different. Hope to see it plays well with my X2 4200+ and 7900GT. Downloading at 100 KB/s as a subscriber, pretty slow still in my opinion - mach-stem must be jacking all the speed. Would love to have a Physx card, hope to see it goes down in price. Three-hundred clams, to me, is way too much for anything but a CPU/ GPU/ RAM. And it still only has one game [GRAW] to play on it thus far. Maybe if BF2142 makes use of it too..
I realize why they are slower, but 12k/s is pointless. Either they shouldnt bother or they should put a cap on how many people can download from the free server so atleast SOME people can get the file.
The free ones are slow because they give more bandwidth to paid subscribers. GameSpot is a business like any other, they need to make money somehow.
Gamespot is downloading at 12k/s.. Whats the point of even offering the free downloads with speeds like that?
I'm going to be buying a PhysX card and can't wait to put this game to the test! :) I have a feeling I might like this game more than I figured I will..hmmm Nice to have a demo to try before I buy. PEACE
I have the XBox version, and I have to say, it's still not bad for the XBox, sure the 360 is better, but it didn't deserve a 5.8...
i played the demo on mu 6800ultra, but my i am getting around 20 fps.... my xbox 360 kicks this graphics by 4 times. but hey, i don't have a 3000$ pc. also, i think this game will look very good with the new psychics card coming out the end of the year, i hear it was ageia psychics chip or something
Yeah the thing is far too demanding. I have a 6800GS and I can't get more than 20FPS when playing at 1280x1024 (I have an LCD so I'm stuck at that res) with medium textures and everything else turned off or to low. I fail to see how I can get 60FPS on Doom 3 with everything maxed, and only 15FPS on GRAW with the settings turned almost completely off. I mean, I know GRAW is more demanding than D3, that's a given, but there's no excuse for this. I guess I'll have to try playing at (Shivers) 800x600...Yuck.
Anyone who still has a card under the 5 of the GeForce series. I kid you not, don't download the demo. It's a waste of time... why? The game isn't even capable of loading the textures on my card.1-5 FPS too, took me about at least 10 mins to get past the mission briefing in the helicopter. Then when I got down the ground, the whole area was black except for a lightpost and the sky.
too bad my gpu sucks. i downloaded it tried it out and i got barely 15-20fps on low. i have a crappy 6200 128mb agp8x for now. the rest of my system kick ass though. But the demo was fun. I will buy the ageia physics card and well ass a 7600gs.
downloading now!!! i'll see if I can run on my geforce 5200, lolz. can't wait for my X1600PRO though.
but that was a long time ago i even have the trailer in my Xbox's Far Cry Instinct which said coming soon... and its been what?? a year ... yeah but still i woulkd like to see that
