GTA: Vice City hits iOS, Android Dec. 6

10th Anniversary Edition of action game coming to mobile devices early next month for $5; list of compatible devices released.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be reborn on iOS and Android devices next month. Rockstar Games today confirmed the 10th Anniversary of its 2002 open-world action game will launch December 6 priced at $5.

The mobile version of GTA: Vice City was announced last month. It features high-resolution graphics and several "enhancements" that are unique to the iOS and Android platforms. These include updated character models and lighting effects, "more precise" gun firing and targeting options, a customizable control layout, and support for Retina display devices.

Rockstar also released a list of compatible devices for GTA: Vice City 10th Anniversary. Supported iOS devices include the iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5, as well as fourth and fifth generation iPod touch units.

As for Android phones and tablets, the lists are much longer. Compatible Android-powered phones include the Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 4, Motorola Razr, HTC Rezound, and many more. Regarding Android tablets, the Google Nexus 10, Motorola Xoom, Toshiba Thrive, and Acer Iconia (among many others) are compatible with GTA: Vice City.

For a full list of compatible devices, check out Rockstar's website.

I'd REALLY like it if they'd put The Warriors on mobile devices. ;)

...Meaning that tablet users will have something much more perditious to take them away from work, family and social interaction than the former frivolous alternatives...

HOW IS THIS NOT ON PSN FIRST!!!!??? and the industry wants to cry about phones and tablets taking their business? Sony needs to put out San Andreas for PSN in order to redeem themselves.

This is definitely a day one purchase for me. Can't wait to play it on my Xperia Play and Nexxus 7. Vice City is by far my favorite GTA game and has one of the best soundtracks ever.

This is great just finished gta 3 on iOS. For those saying the controls are not great. Gta 3 controls were not hard to use and every mission was manageable, only issue is in the original you could physically aim every gun and on iOS only certain guns you could do this with. It did make it hard on missions were guys were hiding around cornors.

This is cool, but please, please R* just give us the original GTA on mobile.

Thanks.

It's awesome that our mobile devices can already run games like this, but the controls always suck. Yes yes you can use a bluetooth controller if you want, but it defeats the whole "mobile"ness and I may as well play it on a console or PC. I'd love to see Rockstar create a GTA from scratch with mobile in mind though (Chinatown Wars aint half bad but it's still aimed at buttons, not touch)

Isn't Rockstar awesome? GTA 3, Max Payne and now GTA Vice City. What's next? Max Payne 2, GTA San Andreas and Red Dead Revolver?

As expected, the Xperia Play is compatible, as in GTA III. Thanks Rockstar! Its a thousand times better to play such games in a physical controller, no matter how you try to adapt to (usually horrible) touchscreen schemes.
