Low resolution images of follow-up to the Noble Map Pack surface; new add-on bundle will reportedly include three new multiplayer environments.
What we heard: Last week, Microsoft announced that a new Halo: Reach map pack would be arriving "very soon," but it did not offer further comment on the matter. Now, it appears the content's cover has been blown.
French Halo fan site Halo Destiny posted several low-resolution images of what looks to be the follow-up to the Noble Map Pack, which was released in late November. According to the site (via Joystiq since the site removed its information and images at the request of Microsoft) the Defiant Map Pack will include three new multiplayer environments: Condemned, Unearthed, and Highlands.
According to Joystiq, Condemned takes place on a human ship, Unearthed is a more spacious environment, and Highlands sports a massive Covenant ship in the backdrop seen laying waste to something with its purple beam.
The images remain available as of publishing on the Halo Destiny Flickr account. They include shots of the above maps, as well as images of the maps as seen in the game's menus. The Highlands environment is referred to as Training Preserve on the photo site.
The official story: A Microsoft representative told GameSpot "We can confirm there will be additional downloadable content for Halo: Reach in the future; however, we have nothing to announce at this time."
Bogus or not bogus?: Certainly not bogus that there will be another map pack in Halo: Reach's future, as Microsoft has confirmed its existence. Also, the purported screenshots certainly are emblematic of other Halo environments.
We need the same thing what Halo 3 got! But a free map, mappack with like 3 new Mp maps and new Firefight maps. I know this one has 2 Mp and 1 Firefight
Like many of you I haven't bought the first map pack yet. To me, three maps just isn't that big a deal. Although now that I haven't bought the first one I wish they would package them together or something.
@SplicerFan03: agreed! new Firefight maps would be sick! they should work on a bunch of those instead. i barely ever play the mp ones as of now. it seems like i just wasted my money bc they never show up on the playlists (besides the actual nobel map pack playlist)
Yeah, this is bogus I mean it's kind of a ripoff if u think about it you get like only half the use out of the full game with all these Multiplayer DLC Map packs. I agree with lilflex1 their overrated and not used much. Don't get me wrong I like mulitplayer but I'd rather play offline modes like Campain and Firefight. so yes I would like a Firefight map, but if it's a MP DLC then forget it
@Gothic-360 Ive made maps back in the days of UT99 and ut2k3, yeah it takes patience and work but i never went to school to learn how to do it. and look at epic games, for all their UT games all their map packs and extra content are free. they are not surviving off of payed DLC, and those map makers make a salery a year(or by product length) so they get paid either way, the developers/publishers reap the benifits of these paid DLC.
Just thought I'd say one of these maps is a firefight map, go search on google and you will find a video for it and it is clearly firefight.
Damn i hate being broke, Do you belieave i still ant play Reach am still to buy me a copy and it may have to be after i get Crisis Any rich kid wann help me out, am missing out on a "excretion" load of fun
meh 3 measly maps is what ms hasplanned no thanks this should be free? or less then pd0s 4 map pack which was 500 msp
Oh yay more MP maps, listen Bungie (or 343 Studios) I want a Jun SP add-on... not more re-hashed maps that rarely come up on the playlists!
If there are no Firefight maps, then I'm not interested. In all fairness, I was expecting at least an extra Firefight map with the Noble Map Pack, but I didn't buy because in my personal opinion, it's over-priced and Microsoft will probably release the maps by other means anyway. ODST, anyone?
I wish that they would support more game modes with DLC. I realize that add-ons to the campaign is a bit much to ask for, but they could release a firefight map along with these.
Ugh. Whatever happened to good single player DLC? Everything is multi-player based these days. I really do not see the point in just new maps, its JUST maps! The real kicker is they add achievements for them, most of which are ridiculous, and you cannot get 100% game score unless you buy them. I honestly hate all this garbage and wish companies would go back to the roots of DLC.
We all already know we should expect a new Map Pack for Reach, but I'm hoping for more then three for ten bucks. CoD may be charging fifteen dollars now, but you do get five maps and with Treyarch, you get four maps and a Zombie Map. Just Sayin'.
Looks promising, but we desperately need another Forge map. Maybe a desert-themed one with a human object set? Green grass, trees and gray metal-concrete gets old fast.
Love Halo and support the franchise so I'll probably get these. I'll guess these will be out at the end of the month. That's 3 months since Noble map pack launched.
In my opinion, map packs ARE overpriced for what they are. If you look at it in terms of value, for First Strike you are paying 25% of the games total cost for 5 maps, which is probably less than 1/8 of the disc's content. Sure you may get a lot of hours out of it, but chances are the average gamer won't love every single map in it. I paid $15 for BF:BC2 Vietnam and I really felt like I got my money's worth. That's on top of the tons of already free content they released. It's the same price as First Strike and it's basically an expansion pack (new guns, maps, setting, vehicles, characters, music, leaderboards etc..) In the end, people will buy these, though, because they ARE Halo or Call of Duty, so they're only going to keep going up in price.
I might be crazy, but that "blurry image" that GS posted looks a lot like the seventh level of Halo 3 (The Covenant). Most intense level in an awesome game! Anyway, hopefully we get some solid maps out of here, though I can only hope that Noble Maps become free down the line. Pipedream? Yeah, kinda.... but really, I love me free maps. :P
I think I'm with @demomhunter and some of the other people who say they'd like to see some campaign and firefight DLC. I wouldn't mind more multiplayer maps though, there should be more at some point anyway.
@kenny actually, Halo maps can change up the gameplay quite a bit. I agree that they should be free however, or at least half the price they are now
I for one did not like the last map pack for Reach I only liked one map on it any and at least unlike that map pack for Black-Ops, it's 10 dollar's for 3 brand new maps here for reach and with black-ops yeah you got 4 MP maps and 1 map for Zombies but still 2 of those MP maps were taken out before release so they could so they could put in a dlc form which is just a money graber. So in short I'd rather pay for 3 new maps rather than 2 new MP maps, 2 MP maps that were suppost to be in with the original launch and 1 zombie map sorry but that is a rip off to me. But I don't plan on getting this map pack at all, basically cause I did not like the last map pack for Reach at all so I'm, not going to grab this plain and simple. Oh yeah one more thing map packs should be free, cause they don't offer much to the game any ways, like if they added something with like the 2 expansoin packs for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did, they added to the expierence for that game.
@capthappy8p lol I understand why ppl complain about the prices... but ppl dont see that making a new map is NOT something easy to do.. just imagine.. you studied your carrier in an university and all.. you struggle to find a good job.. and at the end of the day you get paid 1 dollar for a map you made in 10 hours of more.. wtf.. these map makers need to eat too!!
Okay, this isn't a surprise, but I'd rather play the Halo remake's multiplayer. Now THAT is gonna rock. It's those old Halo maps everyone wants. Reach? Yeah, sure, plays fine, but the maps aren't that great.
i still prefer Halo over Cod ANY day! besides Buffalodude, smart people like me know that CoD is ONLY a great game IF the games Development Team is Infinity Ward! Treyarch Sucks!!
@Buffalodude If what I've heard is correct, one of these new maps is supposed to be a Firefight map, & I, for one, like Firefight a lot more than Nazi Zombies (I like the concept of Nazi Zombies, I just don't like how for local games it's only 2-player split-screen).
@Darth_Nater307 Dude! Your getting a better deal with the $15 dollars!!! Its called DOING THE MATH!!! For $15 your getting 5 maps. Thats $3 bucks a map, and with the latest Black Ops, one of those is a zombie map. Which in my opinion is the best zombie map yet. While $10 for 3 maps. Is $3.33 dollars per map. Seriously dude, your comment looked rather dumb.
@The_Dragon_Born You think $10 for 3 maps is a rip off? I consider 5 maps for $15 outright stealing *stares ever so angrily at Activision*. You know what I got for $15? Final Fantasy X. On topic: Maybe I'll wait a bit to buy the Noble Map Pack. Who knows? Maybe it'll become free before this one comes out (like the Heroic Map Pack before the Legendary Map Pack came out in Halo 3).
The people complaining about the $10 price are the same people who buy COD for $60 every year AND their $15 map packs. Get a job. $10 is nothing.
$10 really isn't bad, I remember paying more than that for just a few Halo 2 maps and that was like 6 years ago.
How is 10$ a rip off? I spend about 30$ a month just to wipe my butt. 10$ is the amount of quarters and dimes I have in my car.
A new firefight map would be a nice addition, but either way I still can't get enough of reach, so I will definitely be buying these.
i would much rather pay per map, a dollar a map i say! tho free is a much more satisfying price point
Just announce the damn price tag already idc how many "cool" maps there. whats the ridiculous price.
