I had two of the games already, but hey got it anyway, split my $10 half and half between THQ and charity.
Beleaguered publisher's name-your-own-price drive closes with more than $5 million; $10,000 came from THQ president Jason Rubin.
885,310 bundles were sold altogether, netting an exact total of $5,097,641.01. The money is not all THQ's to keep, though, as gamers had the option of spreading their contributions between charity outlets, the Humble Bundle organization, or THQ itself.
The average purchase price was $5.76. Rubin's $10,000 donation was not his first, nor was he the only THQ executive to give. Rubin also purchased a $1,050 bundle, with THQ CEO Brian Farrell chipping in $1,650 for his own.
The Humble THQ Bundle launched November 29, allowing users to pay what they wished for six THQ-published games, including Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. Upon choosing to donate more than the average amount listed on the site, Saints Row: The Third was added to the bundle. Purchasers also received select games' soundtracks DRM free.
The Humble THQ Bundle saw more than $2 million in sales during its first day.
I feel this is how games should be sold in general. Its an amazing idea. CoD and other yearly franchises would undoubtedly die while Actually good games with a hard working team behind them would prosper
seems like a far better alternative than kickstarter as you see what you can get if you support a company. darksiders 3 and metro, why yes please.
@leviathanwing Ignorance is bliss, yeah? Kickstarter is to help launch great and innovative ideas from the ground up. Donating there helps people get started towards their goal and usually gives you a little something in return. (Unless it doesn't reach its funding goal, in which case, you're not required to give them any money.)
HumbleBundle is to donate whatever you can spare for charity and/or the companies involved while still getting something. It rewards generosity with generosity.
And FYI, it's Darksiders 2, not 3...
@leviathanwing You really don't understand what kickstarter is, do you?
Great games and deal :)
Waiting in silence for another one....
Btw i must say i give them double the average.Hope my Bison $ is worth it :D
I probably wont get to these games for a while, but I figured this bundle was the time to get them. I hear SR3 is very fun, so that alone was worth the 6 dollars I payed.
@thequickshooter Is it really worth worrying about DRM with a bundle this large for only $5? The games can be activated on Steam, which has a pretty generous DRM system, and even if they do go under or somehow magically lose your purchase, you only lost out on $5. That's less than a video game rental.
@chibi-acer steam fucks up my computer
uses 70% of my physical memory (which is 2 gigs)
and the steam off-line mode sucks
my only online store it's gog.com
because really when it comes to just start the game and hop back to the internet DRM-FREE is the best
i know steam it's the console choice for the pc gamer
but i have xbox 360,ps3,3DS and a laptop
if i want to shove a disk and play i could
without any slow-downs or whatever
people need to know that steam is DRM
but the one who lets you online on games without online like COH
but there is always gameranger for your online needs

you dipshit learn to read
I do feel that THQ should have disclosed that both multiplayer games Titans Quest and Saints Row the Third are unplayable due to bugs and have no plan on fixing them with patches. Its unfortunate seeing as how many of the buyers bought a few bundles in order to play with friends and cannot.
@jacheat Just for any new readers, none of this is true. I own both, they're among the least buggy titles I've had on my PC for a while. Obviously look around to your trusted sources before you buy them, but I sincerely doubt you'll find much about them being bugged.
@jacheat saintsrow 3 not unplayable either... i play that with my mates all the time...i guess your just some lame troll
@undeadgoon If you look up or even type into google (saints row the third frame rate) you will find endless pages on every forum for the games issues that have yet to get a patch after 1 year. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't make it any less real for the majority of player trying to play it on the PC with their friends.
@undeadgoon All good UDG. I just wanted people to know they might have some issues with a few of the games. But yeah the majority of people affected by this are on hold with support or 20 pages deep in support forums (so maybe this was not the best place to post my frustrations :D)
@jacheat thats unfortunate that people have problems with it, but you must understand that people go on the net to complain and the people who dont have any trouble are happily playing the game, so because its bugged for some people doesnt mean its bugged for all. i was just putting my opinion across (ok there was no need for the troll comment, but these days you never know..)
@jacheat Titan Quest is far from unplayable. For me it's the best Diablo clone ever made. It use to be in top 100 games played on Steam for ages...for a reason. There is also an excellent fan patch for the game as well as slew of different mods. Game runs smooth as butter. I've sunk well over 1.000 hours into it. It's just a shame that they didn't include Immortal Throne in this bundle.
@Rimtutituki I'm not saying the singleplayer is unplayable I was talking only about the Multiplayer that is broken. Look up (Titans Quest invalid CD key) and you will find years of posts of people waiting for a fix for this issue that makes playing with friends or online unplayable.
So this post by humblebundle saying yeah we know its broken ... must also be a lie, as well as all the thousands of people unable to play. Good to know.
Not bashing any of the games or humbleBundle just pointing out that it had an issue thats all.
@jacheat I don't have to look up anything. I've been playing both single player and multiplayer for years and it's not broken. There are still bunch of public games out there and thousands people playing it on Steam and Tunngle. I know cause I'm one of them. And I played via LAN as well. Did you actually try the game for your self ? There are simple solutions for some of the common problems. If you have trouble playing multiplayer I can help you out if you let me know what the problem is.
There were people who gave 10 000 dollars for this cause. True gamers to their roots. Faith in gaming has been restored a little!
this is what really can change the future
not stupid free to play games where you either play without pay nothing or waste a lot of money os stupid itens
@leandrro How is that bad? I can play a game for free and that is somehow a bad thing? I respect it doesn't belong in every genre so it's not the future of all games but league of legends and MMO's (like Guild Wars 2) are good examples. I don't see why I'd ever pay each month just to play one game online like traditional MMO's so free to play is a good option for MMORPG's in my opinion as well as any other title that can make it work (like league of legends where you can't buy power, you can get anything you want for free other than skins and the game is just fun and not limited by being free).
@leandrro There are plenty of quality free to play games though. League of Legends, Planetside 2, GW2 (even though you pay for the game but not a subscription). Just being F2P doesn't mean it lacks quality.
this is the one and only piracy free market-model for enterteinement products
i would pay a full 60 dolar for battlefield 3
@leandrro The BF3 part makes no sense.
Ever heard of gog.com? There is Steam also. And all of the humble bundles are redeemable on Steam if it's not mandatory like the humble THQ bundle.
So now I am very curious. What's going to happen with THQ? I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see another Dawn of War or another Metro 2033.
I already got Metro 2033 for free and wasn't much interested in the others, especially not the CoH bunch (not my favorite genre/setting). Darksiders 2 seems good, though I want to play the first Darksiders before playing the second and would rather play some other Red Faction game before trying out Armageddon.
Bobby Kotick & Frank Gibeau are both In hospital following the closure of this great THQ deal.
The Idea of giving gamers such good value rather than ripping them off coupled with the mere thought of charity caused pulmonary Issues & serious seizures for both Bobby & Frank.
Activision & EA are urging gamers to buy as much dlc as possible In a bid to nurse them back to health.
@Sanguis_Malus LOL, i would give 5 dollars for all modern warfare games bundle because they´re kinda fun
I purchased this. Great deal and idea for publishers to get a quick cash injection. They lose nothing as the games are old ish and most sales are from people who had no intention of purchasing the games in the past. Great deal great brownie points for THQ. Lets hope more bundles start to appear.
im enjoying the games i bought on this bundle, great games. Hope thq manage to pull themselves out of trouble, they're not that bad of a publisher.
