Inversion delayed to June 5
Saber Interactive's third-person shooter now arriving for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this summer; The Inversion Project iOS and Android game due later in the year.
Saber Interactive's new shooter Inversion is not going to make its previously scheduled "early 2012" release. Publisher Namco Bandai today announced that the third-person shooter will ship for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in North America on June 5, with a European bow to follow on June 8.
On top of announcing the game's release date, Namco Bandai also today announced The Inversion Project for iOS and Android devices. Serving as an introduction to Inversion, The Inversion Project is a third-person, cover-based shooter. Like its console cousin, the game also puts gravitational powers in a gamer's hands.
This is not the first time Inversion has been delayed. The game was originally set to launch in 2010, but it was later moved to February 7, 2012. It missed that launch window, with Namco Bandai saying it needed additional time to polish "several aspects of the title."
Explaining today's Inversion delay, Namco Bandai said the extra time will allow Saber Interactive to "create an enjoyable and engaging third-person shooter experience."
Inversion tells the story of a near-future human race that has been overrun by an invading enemy known as the Lutadore. The invaders bring with them plenty of hostility, as well as the gravity-altering technology that allows for the game's biggest selling point. These weapons' effects are complicated by a rift in the fundamental physical force that ties objects together, causing various parts of the city to become zero-gravity hot zones.
