I hope this is a Ty Collection and if it isn't then i will still buy it as long as it's Ty and his boomerangs
Australian studio reopens website and unveils new Ty the Tasmanian Tiger project; more details are expected next week.
Australian game developer Krome Studios has launched a new website, simultaneously unveiling a new Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game currently in development.
While the studio is choosing to stay silent on more details about the game, including what platforms it will be released on, it has confirmed that it will be announcing more information about the project and the studio's new direction next week.
Krome was once Australia's largest independent game developer, with more than 400 members of staff across its various locations.
The studio ran into financial trouble in 2010, undergoing a series of staff cuts across all of its Australian studios, and eventually shutting down its Adelaide branch completely. At the time, the studio blamed economic factors.
Stay tuned to GameSpot for more information on Krome next week.
Seems like the closest thing we will be getting to a Spyro/Mario/Sonic game made for consoles that isn't made by any of the big companies following their own traditions all the time. It is always good to see games appearing in genres usually overrun by familiar faces (which is the same reason I am happy Epic Mickey made enough to get a sequel despite its faults).
This is awesome. I was just reminiscing on the Ty series a few weeks ago. I loved both games. Can't wait to get another Ty game, been so many years.
I've always loved the Ty series it was one of my favorites on the PS2. I really hope they make an HD Collection game with all 3 Ty games, which will be released on PS3, Xbox and PSVITA.
I'm happy to hear Krome is back in business and working on another Ty game. Really enjoyed the others from last gen, even if they were a bit underdeveloped at times. (The draw distance in Ty 2 was absurdly bad IMO)
I always thought the Ty games were platforming clones, but i loved the atmosphere in them, reminded me of mario sunshine, in a good way
This developer hasn't released anything exceptional last years. No matter how good the Ty games were seven years ago, I can't really expect this to be good.
Yaaaay. This is good, but i'd like to see if developers can create more new loveable cartoony, platformer characters that doesn't just try to appeal to small children before the end of this generation.....
When I was still a brat, I remember watching the Commercial for Ty the first time and he Beat the S%&* out of Sonic, Crash, Spyro and send them to the Hospital and that what made me want to play Ty The Tasmanian Tiger. I only play the first and second game on Gamecube and they were really fun to play.
The three Ty games on the PS2 were great platformers. They were polished, funny, and a blast to play. I can guarantee you this isn't what they are developing. They are going to develop some crap Facebook game or some lazy 2D platformer for iPhone or something like that and slap the Ty name game. That's it.
I would eat my own hat and swear allegiance to my shoe if this is an actual full fledged sequel to the Ty games released on current gen consoles or the Wii U. I would literally be shocked if this was a fully featured 3D action adventure platforming game like the original three. If it was an actual real sequel, I would buy it day one. If it isn't, I'll ignore it and continue to mourn the death of awesome 3D platformers.
Long time no see this. I remember playing this game. It was fun but weird. There was TY atacking enemies with boomerangs, and I think there was also a koala who gives you different boomerangs, and a girl thats similiar to TY. Considering picking this up if it turns a good rated and if it comes to 3DS or PS3.
Cool. I hope for a PC release of the new game and maybe the first three on Steam. I'm losing faith in console gaming due to a terrible idea from EA spreading like a virus.
That's interesting, the first Ty game was actually one of my favorite platformers last gen. I wasn't the biggest fan of the 2nd or third ones, but I'd definitely be up for a new entry in the franchise.
So wierd, I just bought the xbox version of the first Ty to play on my 360, coz I had a hankering to play it after so many years. After Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank, Ty was my absolute favourite last gen platformer, and totally underrated.
Never played the series but I love 3D platformers. Hopefully they release an HD Collection along with a new game on PS3 and 360.
Vaguely remember this, thought of it like a lesser known Crash Bandicoot/Sly Raccoon type series for pre-teens. Must have been Krome's main earner. Hope the sales from a new one get them back on their feet, and then they venture out to an original and more successful IP
Speaking of Ty brings back memory, one of the great game ever played as a kid. Hoping for more new surprises.
lol Seeing another game about Ty is something I didn't expect...I remember playing that game long ago.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacine"Tasmanian tiger" also known as a Thylacine... probably the one of the oddest creatures you've never seen, and never will. It's actually a giant rodent. ( I know all this because I did a paper on it )
The Ty series is one of their only top rated games...7.5 on average most everything else they've done is ports of major releases to other platforms EX, Star Wars TFU for PS2.....
Holy shit I remember playing the Ty games when I was just a wee lad. Absolutely loved them and still do. Can't wait for this new project.
I never played the Ty games, but I am very glad Krome is back- any progress in the Aussie games industry is good progress.
it most likely will be since it was on ps2...but i hope they go to other systems as well
I'm not liking the (2d) cartoon look , I hope it's not just an attempt-at-cash-in on Rayman Origins , rayman pulled it off because it was the game people needed after the original was milked out of existence by rabbids , but Ty can't and shouldn't lean back on ''nostalgia'' when it isn't a nostalgic game to begin with.
@jaifrecap They were mutli-plat for all 3 , but he came in and left pretty quietly last generation. All of his games were ''mediocre'' (according to the critics) but it was kinda a people's game.
@jaifrecap They were also on the Xbox.
@jaifrecap Gamecube/PS2 and the games were actually pretty good as far as classic platforming goes. I enjoyed them a bunch. I think the first game came out somewhere near the turn of millennium.
