Lego Lord of the Rings hits this fall

[UPDATE] New Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS, Vita, and PC game arriving later this year, will be based on motion picture trilogy; Warner Bros. confirms voice acting.
J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary Lord of the Rings fantasy tome will come to life in a new way this fall. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today formally announced Lego Lord of the Rings for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PC.
Due out this fall, Lego Lord of the Rings will be based on Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy and will follow the storylines of each film. Unlike the Lego Harry Potter franchise, which was split over two games, the entire Lord of the Rings saga will be told in one entry.
The game follows Frodo Baggins and the unlikely fellowship that sets out from Rivendell on a dangerous journey to destroy The One Ring and bring peace to Middle-earth. Throughout Lego Lord of the Rings, players will enter the Mines of Moria, climb the Misty Mountains, and battle orcs, uruk-hai, and the nasty balrog.
In keeping with the staples of the Lego franchise, Lego Lord of the Rings will be peppered with lighthearted interpretations of the source material, with gamers tasked with solving puzzles along the way. Character players featured in the game include Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Sam, Merry, and Pippin.
The game's first trailer features full voice acting, a design departure from past installments.
[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, a Warner Bros. representative told GameSpot the game will feature voice acting taken from the films.
"The dialogue is taken from the films themselves and will be used throughout the game," reads the statement.
Lego Lord of the Rings is in development at franchise shop Traveller's Tales. The game was first unveiled earlier this month by inserts found within the new line of Lego Lord of the Rings toys.

I would LOVE to see the recent past "Legos Battles' for the DSi made over into a 'Lord of the Rings' Lego Battle System..... version,
There would be more than just the story line but add online lego realtime- strategy battles, that would rock.. I would have to buy one for each platform I owned...
they should make a lego LEGO game, or maybe a lego- my nan game in which you have to visit an old relative but dodge the bad tea and hariy kisses.... lego sticklebrick game, lego sonic, lego mario, lego legolas.... i could go on , and it sure seems that lego games will. what a load of tosh. 4 Like Fingers crossed that the voice acting is for the trailer only. The lack of speech in earlier Lego games is one of their great strengths. It capitalizes on the player's familiarity with the source, but separates the original story from the liberties taken for the game. It is a brilliant affectation and requires good writing and modelling to tell the story.
My favourite is the Death Star commander crying it ROTJ when Darth Vader dresses him down.
I've been waiting for a good looking Lego game Indiana Jones and Harry Potter were so boring. And Batman was okay. I want a lego game as fun as the old star wars ones.
YEah I think WB has rights do DC universe, not Marvel, so at best, you could hope for a Lego Batman the animated series ou Lego Justice League, or such.
If they are going to do every franchise Warner Bros. owns, they should go ahead with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A Transformer one would be cool, too, if they can get the rights of Activision.
hmm..... this is the first lego game iv been interested in for awhile now, they are all fun, just some are better than others

2 Like I don't understand the fascination with this Lego games. I liked Lego as much as any kid but I always had zero interest in any of these Lego games. I am frankly amazed they do as well as they do.
@redness19 lego is going out of fashion, so they had to come up with some thing and lego games is what they came up with. in my opinion there fun games and u know the kids can play them without u worrying what there playing.
1 Like @redness19 they are marketed towards a younger audience and many times they coincide with LEGO sets that are currently being released. They are solid games for kids becuase they are well made, entertaining, and they contain enough violence to be fun but are in no way gory.
@nintendoboy16 @XboxGuy1537 I wasn't a huge fan of that one, but it was much better than Pirates.
2 Like I have been saying they needed to do this for at least 5 years, and when they made Harry Potter I thought I was screwed. Thank the bejeezus they came to their senses. I'm all over this. Yes, the voices may remove some of the charm but I think they can pull it off.
*watched the trailer* Wow... that was just like the movie only with legos and light humor! No sarcasm intended, as I am glad to see they are keeping with the cinematic style of the films while bringing their own touch to the table.
I was actually waiting for it since 5 years.And now I'm really ansious BUT what's that Gandalf's voice?Come on!Get a better voice.Hire the original actor(Ian McKellen)Yeah,Magneto and Gandalf.I think it's going to be very funny.I'll surely buy it
2 Like Errr I rather think that was Sir Ian McKellen. I think it may have come out rather strangely, because it was a "clip", but I think it was him Nad I for one am rather looking forward to having a Lego game with voices, especially his one. Although I must agree, use them sparringly.
7 Like The voice acting looks so strange on a LEGO game. The grunts and hums were part of the reason why the LEGO games had charm.
