New add-on for 2K Czech's open-world crime adventure picks up with Vito's paisano on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC later this year.
2K Games' first piece of multiplatform downloadable content for Mafia II didn't receive anywhere near the critical praise of the full game. Titled Jimmy's Vendetta, the add-on focused on the titular hit man as he acted as the mob's cleaner across Empire Bay. The add-on pack included more than 30 new quests, with Jimmy engaging in various acts of skulduggery ranging from assassinations to high-speed chases.
The publisher will undoubtedly be hoping for a better reception for Mafia II's next wave of DLC, titled Joe's Adventures. The add-on is expected to arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC later this year.
As its name implies, Joe's Adventures will pick up with Vito Scaletta's titular paisano, during the years in which the Mafia II protagonist is serving time. The single-player adventure serves as an extension to the events in the full game and delves into the "truth behind Vito's prison sentence" and other underpinnings of the Clemente crime family.
New locations that can be explored in the game include a train station, a cathouse, and a boatyard, as well as new buildings within Empire Bay. An unspecified number of story-based missions and city-based quests will also be available to Joe's Adventures purchasers, as well as a host of new clothes, collectibles, and classic '40s and '50s tunes.

Honestly they need to release a DLC that takes of at the end of game with joe. Won't say why to those who have not beaten the game.
Company strategy in this days is release the game, and then extra content in form of DLC downloads, so I bellieve that our only protest and response possible to do against this Vampire Actitude is waiting fo the game to go Platinum or Gold edition, and then pay 10 $ for the all thing. This is getting a normal strategy for all game releasing Market, promising a game that it comes later to stores in parts and pieces to Highjack our pockets. Sad is that the game is in real very good , I have bought the Collector Limited Edition that was in fact the most poor Limited edition I ever bought so far cause apart from the normal Steal box and extra content that was 2 more suits and a car they just gave me nothing else that realy makes the name of Limited edition, very sad, and that was my first disapointment, also the game is so short if you compare with his previouse original one that I finished it in only 3 days playing 8 hours a day, what for me it was another disapointment cause the 70$ looked just to much for 24 hours of game play. Maybe some people liked it the way it was, but the ones that buy PC games for longer time get the sad taste in your mouth cause ib those days realy a collector edition or Limited edition was the real thing. I feel sad cause this was one of the games I have waited to be released since I played the original Mafia, and also feel like I was somehow scamed on this purchase.
@Toysoldier34 They make DLC to take more of your money for the same product. If it was for the sick of gamers, they wouldn't put activation to be as a rent, they wouldn't take your 1/4 of a game's price for an DLC with a mission. Steam is a RENT program. To me, it is a theft. Those games ARE NOT YOURS. Wake up or die in ignorance. Do not bother me anymore.
@green_dominator Yeah I kinda agree with you some competitive on the console, but I can't say anything for the pc cause the only 2 FPS's I've ever played was DOOM and Duke Nukem and that was a long time ago over all the last game I played on the pc is the RTS's like Age of empire's, starcraft and warcraft. But to my other point with multiplayer is that is what felt liked what it was missing co-op or a cops and robbers where both side's havee an objective, some what like Bad Company 1&2 and the up coming brink that would've been cool, and I wished I got chance to play Mass Effect 2 cause I enjoyed the first one a lot but I traded it in for Splinter cell conviction so I can get access to the beta for Ghost Recon: Future soldier and I plan on getting it again real soon cause I need something real good to keep me busy for 2 weeks of in the winter. but thats me, I can't wait to play the dlc for mafia 2 cause I would like to what joe was up to when Vito was in prison.
Don't tell anyone, but I will illegally download this dlc for my PC version and then buy it for my xbox version, if it's any good. :P
I dont understand why this wasn't included with the Mafia II disc that we paid $60 for? This is the reason why I am slowly backing away from paying full price on games nowadays because of this oversaturation of DLC that should have been included in the first place. Ill just wait a year until this game drops to $20 then purchase the DLC so I can feel like I didnt get ripped off.
@kennythomas26 I'm just not that into multiplayer but Coop with friends isn't so bad but Coop doesn't seem like it would lend itself to well to a game like Mafia or GTA. I'm not that good at throwing down with everyone the same way everyone else does. I like Halo Reach for campaign coop and Firefight 2.0 and Forge World. The last 2 games I really played long term as in over a year at least was Quake 2 and Quake 3 and I actually won matches in those games, I was never the top player but I had my moments and I was happy with what I could do. also the atmosphere on PC is completely different, On PC you have people who it's all about score and rankings but most players don't take it so personally, it's business as usual. On console everyone takes even a one point loss so seriously, everyone is so obsessed with their ranking gods forbid somebody gives them some competition. I do hear where you're coming from and like I said i like coop more than deathmatch and Mass Effect was good because everything you did in the first game meas something.
@ mardinn yea maybe i don't want to play a 40 hr action game..but i do want to play a 40 hr sandbox game. Mafia II is short and when you are finished...there is no reason to play anymore. Hell i still play GTA and GTA stories....i put in mafia and get bored in minutes.
How was Mafia II short? Jesus, you really want to play a 40 hour action game? The people these days demand too many things.
it should be free or at least cheap , all gamers know that mafia was short intentionally for these DLC's , I didn't pay 100$ for a 12 hours game
@evaneself Your really saying people who buy DLC aren't gamers? You ever thought about the fact that maybe a game does well and to show for it the developers release extra content to keep people playing their game? Many devs do rip people off like with MW2, but some companies like Valve use DLC as a way to show that they still care about their product months after it hit the shelves and it is their way of saying thank you. What makes you so much better? You say they are all children but you sound like more of a child than a majority of the comments on here. You sound exactly like the whining children you are trying to bring down. So who are you to say things like that? I assure you I am a true gamer in every sense of the meaning. @snake289 Nice job riding on his nuts man, I'm sure he appreciates the support, because we all know that nobody likes to add a little more gameplay to their favorite games right?
DLC is ok if it comes after the oringinal release (not preplaned and could have been included for free) and adds something of substance to the game. Its cheaper for companies to make dlc instead of a whole new expansion or sequel. Its your choice to buy it or not.
@green_dominator Hey man I did say that I enjoyed playing Mafia2, and yeah I'm just saying for the multiplayer aspect may be it could've had co-op at least I don't care about free roam I didn't like GTA4 because of it's free roam. and red dead I didn't enjoy the story but its on line is slightly better then GTA4's I'm not gonna lie. I have played alot of games this year and Mafia2 is by far the second best game that I have played story wise and graphically and audio, my first fav was Alan wake but I didn't get to play Mass Effect 2 yet. But again this is just my opinion.
i like the old school gamin, why making dlcs, rippin us off, instead, make a complete game that makes worth playin for hours, n if u want to make addition to the storyline, make another complete game with good production value n release as stand-alone expansion
sounds like 2k is pulling another one on their followers. yeah, you 2k moles, keep thumbing this down. i know ur payed to.
@ ExplodingCactus You are the foreigner here. And many of us speak your language better than you are. And is not our fault that we were born outside us or uk.
@ShadeRage_basic All games have a limit budget and time of production. More gameplay will mean poor graphics, story, acting and more. Mafia II was not a game for those who like long gameplay, but for those who like production value. For more gameplay they offer DLCs, since it's not possible to have a DLC to improve the production value.
As amazingly short as the game was this content should be free. I played threw the base game in just 8 hours, most games provide at the very least 40 hours of game play.
ExplodingCactus, maybe you should look at your own post before complaining about others. It's full of grammatical errors, spelling errors and typos. As for this new DLC, I really hope it's better than Jimmy's Vendetta which was very repetitive and boring. Too much like GTA, IMO.
I like how many people posted below me who didn't even make there english hal-way readable as in its so bad they must be foreign cause the grammer was bad, and there posts were long wft! Don't use a language you can be understood in geez I hate people who think they can speak a language fluently when they can't.
Its very simple to get the stupid DLC(if you want).Just get it from torrent. No way Im paying them for this idiocy.
Seems interesting enough :D. I'm not too fond of playing as the fat guy, but at least he's the likeable sidekick :P. First thing I'm doing though...I'm changing that shirt!
How about giving us a DLC that gives Vito the chance of saving Joe's Ass in the end of the game..... One DLC it's wierd cause it comes with a guy that the main story doesn't even mention, Jimmy....Who the hell is this guy???!!! Conclusion , it was a DLC to milk some more money from us the Mafia series fans. The second DLC is now about Joe's adventures, more milk to their bottles and anpther no sence DLC, wasting of time and looking like this Company adds DLC content without even bother to know the main game plot or Story, so more DLC are comming untill we see and understand that this is just a marcketing strategy to make Millions at our pocket cost. Damn, at least respect the first awesome job that was done in the previouse Mafia game, and see that a good remake would get millions more suporters and would get Mafia fan relaxed and wating to pay for it. Resuming, DLC is without no doubt in this case a way of getting more money from us not caring at all with the game plot and story...Next DLC after this Joe's Adventures will be Francesco's Pay back....Just to stupid and without respect for us... Marcket and selling department is on command now I guess.
DLCs are great! They give more gameplay for games that I like it and want more. If I didn't like the game, I won't buy the DLC. No need to bash them. Also, if I feel a game is not worth $60 bucks, I won't buy it in the first place. I read the reviews before buy it and I'll not crybaby later that the game should come with all DLCs, like a loser that can't make a thoughtful decision. Finally, if I buy a game because the hype, I'm paying the price for watching and reading to much ad.
This trend is bad for us gamers pockets. More companies will release 5 hr campaign games w/ glitchy multiplayer and charge us $50 or $60. Then later release several DLCs weeks after release for $15 or more. Greedy hogs.
+1 Count me as another gamer that won't bother with Mafia 2 until they actually "finish" it and release a Gold edition.
So "the game is only about the plot" excuse for the lack of side-missions is officially debunked. What they meant to say is "we'll sell you the side-missions separately."
I'll wait for GOTY edition when the game is complete. I'm just not interested in buying a 6 hour game for $50 and a new DLC every 2 weeks.
@evaneself I respect your opinion, and with all due respect, I dont think there is a correlation between DLC and and Gamers not being "real" gamers. Im 23, and I consider myself a real gamer and I love and Hate the Idea of DLC. I love it if there is only 1 DLC available, but I hate it when they milk it like Red Dead, or Borderlands. etc. etc.
I didn't buy the first DLC and won't be buying this one either. The way the game was stripped of features and with rumors suggesting more DLCs to come, I'll buy a "ultimate/gold/whatnot" edition a year or two from now to enjoy the FULL game.
Everyone who buys DLC are not real gamers, are fanboys whose parents have money to pay to support the DLC mockery. They don't care about nothing. It can be inferred from here that they have a small age or worse. Who buys and throws, it is their way.
I still feel robbed, so I'm not sure if I'll be getting this. On the other hand, this DLC sounds promising.
