One of the best RPG series ever created and the worst ending of all time. Totally worth it, just be prepared for the titanic sinking at the end of the journey.
BioWare nails down release date for space role-playing game; to be available at console launch in North America, Europe, and Japan.
The Wii U has added Mass Effect 3 to its list of launch titles. BioWare confirmed recently that the Wii U version of its spacebound role-playing game will be available when the console launches in North America (November 18), Europe (November 30), and Japan (December 6).
Mass Effect 3 for Wii U was previously a "launch window" game for the system. Nintendo's "launch window" spans from November 18, 2012 through March 31, 2013.
BioWare also detailed what fans can expect in the way of add-on content with the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3. The game will include the From Ashes, Extended Cut, Rebellion, Resurgence, and Earth expansions, as well as a "bonus heavy weapon."
The Wii U SKU will also include an update to the Genesis interactive comic from Dark Horse that was first released when Mass Effect 2 came to the PlayStation 3. The updated iteration clues players in on the Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 backstory and allows players to make decisions at certain story points. These decisions will then create an importable save game that will open new story branches in Mass Effect 3.
The Mass effect Trilogy is out for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. So they could have waited and released the Mass effect Trilogy for the Wii U. But since they wanted this as a launch title. Mass Effect 3 on lauch day now becomes a throw-away title for the Wii U.
@Megavideogamer I've never played ME 3, because of the complaints of the ending on PS3 and 360, in addition to my PC not having controller support.
I am excited for this release. Not only to play ME 3 with seamless story integration, but with better graphics (60frames per second).
There are no problems with this game launching on Wii U.
@Megavideogamer They could still release ME1 and ME2 at a later date... I think they probably don't have time to convert ME1 and ME2 right now.
It is a new console so it is possible that developing games 1, 2, and 3 would have taken longer and they wanted it for a launch title. Even so, I'm excited to see what they do with the gamepad. If they don't utilize it in a way that makes the game feel more refreshing than that would be bad.
id consider this except i want a trilogy instead of just 1. but ive played 1 and 2 already, and 3 just didnt appeal after playing 2.
from what i've heard, not having the first 2 available for transferring your data doesn't make too much of a difference anyway
@japanesegoth Indeed, in the 3rd game there are events that overruled most of what you could have done in previous games (and even during in-game), in order to have a "common" experience.
lol didn't buy ME3 for ps3, so why need it on wii U?
Did enjoy ME2, i just hate EA too much to keep sponsoring their 2 early out the door dlc soon to follow games
Still suprised they haven't decided to put all 3 games on the system yet... I guess they'll make use of the touchscreen, maybe giving better ways to order around the teammates... But still no amount of improved controls is going to make the game worth buying without the other two.
Awesome! oh wait, ME3? um... why would any care about the 3rd game in a trilogy finally making it to the Wii U? Oh yeah, just in case you missed it, and the 2nd, and the first. It must be the only game with an 'M' rating on it for the console and they have to keep making news reports for it.
Well, you get to 'hate the ending' less if you only play one.
@raahsnavj besides black ops 2 and ac 3. There really are a lot of devs looking into the console, and if big companies like EA and Activision can prove their AAA titles will sell, it'll convince others to develop games for the Wii U.
Supposedly, you should be able to buy it today. I don't know if they're selling it, but I was told by an employee that it would be in today.
Pointless, should have put some effort in and actually put the entire trilogy onto WiiU, instead of just ME3. You're just asking for this to flop, especially with the trilogy edition hitting every other platform soon.
Every time I hear of Mass Effect I just wish they hadn't decided to turn it into Gears of War with the second one. So much damn potential lost and ultimately the death of Bioware as we once knew it.
@AuronAXE I thought Mass Effect 2 was a great game, it gave a solid story that made you care about your characters and it provided great action. Now in playing your advocate, yes, Mass Effect 2 was a turning point for a developer famed for its RPGs. Hopefully SWTOR's failure won't discourage them from returning to solid RPGs.
im not so sure how the choices would work out for mass effect 2 i mean how do you get your crew to survive or cant you...
@shahab102 I think that's what the comic is for. It lets you read/watch the story from the previous games and has you decide the major decisions i.e. saving the council or not, destroy/save the collector base. I would hope there would be options to save your crew as well, but this Bioware we're talking about...
Uh huh. cool, I guess. Just wondering the logic behind the port, as it has already been on the three major platforms. I mean, how much revenue can you hope to pull from the people whose sole gaming experience has been exclusively limited to wii.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it was supposed to be the Trilogy!!!! NO EXCUSE EA!!! This is the PERFECT platform to do the Trilogy on XP I'd rather ditch any GamePad features in favor of having all 3 games and even though I already played all 3, I no longer have the first two and would like to replay them again (as a woman!).
@abHS4L88 sony is the perfect platform...since ME1 on it is the best version confirmed by bioware
dont be butthurt nintendo dont have the trilogy did u expect otherwise ?
its a console for kids and parents....ppl buy the wii for the hello kitty games, not the hardcore games.
Bioware dont give a dam about nintendo just like most of the third party studios out there lol...so have fn with your tons of mario games again.
long live play.
@chocorocket Here I thought people bought Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games like Legend of Zelda, Mario, and Metroid.
And LOL, Hello Kitty? There was only one Hello Kitty game on the Wii so clearly someone is just hating and doesn't know his stuff.
ME1 did come out for the PS3, but since Nintendo hasn't had any of the Mass Effects, there's no reason why it shouldn't get the trilogy.
I'm not butthurt as you would like to believe, as much as I would like to get the trilogy, I'm not too bothered by it as there are many other games I'm getting instead.
But I'm not going to put up with a troll, go have fun continuously playing your "hardcore" games and believing you're a "real gamer".
I love how for the last several years everyone has been hating on Nintendo for not having enough 3rd party support, and now with the Wii U they finally have tons of 3rd party games coming to it and you people are still hating and bitching about them being ports and whatnot. I swear some people just can't live without hating on something at all times..
Haters aren't getting the console, so they have to use everything and anything to hate. I skipped on the Wii but have every Nintendo console. I'm getting a Wii U, can't wait. Sorry to see so many close minded gamers.
If you skipped the Wii, I do recommend you check out their library after getting a Wii U, there are at least a dozen really great games aside from the obvious 1st party games (which are also amazing). Will help you pass the time if there are ever any long waits you must endure with the Wii U.
nintendo sheeps paying $350 for a controller addon to play a game that we all played 8months ago.
I am tired to listening stupid Nintendo i am not gonna buy Mass Effect 3 cos EA didn't released whole trilogy when they had released Mass Effect 2 for PS3 without the first Mass Effect that didn't stop me to buy Mass Effect 2
Porting older games doesn't impress me Nintendo. I know you're trying to let the diehard Nintendo audience experience the stuff that those of us who already own the other consoles have been able to get but I expect to see something different out of you besides ports of year old games. Unsurprisingly unimpressed with this sytem so far. 5 years too late and $300 too much for me at this point.
@endorbr You know that eventually a new Mario and Legend of Zelda will be coming. Those two games (and a lot more games, hopefully speaking) will be worth the 300 dollars.
@endorbr How about it wont be a slideshow like the ps3, isnt that enough?
@endorbr Pretend it doesn't exist then. It's obvious Nintendo won't be satisfying you anytime soon. So for your (and those who are actually excited for Wii U) sake, just pretend Nintendo doesn't exist at all.
Though I'm no longer a console gamer (PC for the last 3 years), I must admit the Wii U is shaping up nicely. It actually addresses alotta the gripes gamers have had during the 7th (current) gen.
The hate it's getting from trolls is really uncalled for. What, are they on Sony and M$' payroll or something?
@nate1222 Yeah, even the the lack of BC extends to the Wii, as Nintendo removed BC from the Wii sadly.
Lack of bc, not enough core games, not enough "mature" games, not enough 3rd party AAA games... You know, the gripes they had about the Wii.
And the lack of bc gripe extends to PS3 and the rumors surrounding Sony and MS' next gen consoles.
@nate1222 "I must admit the Wii U is shaping up nicely. It actually addresses alotta the gripes gamers have had during the 7th (current) gen."
I have a two Wii U reserved, I buy all Nintendo consoles at launch...but I'm more curious what "gripes" have been addressed? I'm buying the Wii U's because I trust Nintendo to deliver Mario/Zelda/Nintendo exclusives in the future. They always do.
I'm more curious about these alleged gripes that have been addressed. What in particular did you notice? I would love to educate my friends on that matter.
