@TheLast1Left lol cause i had first generation. Sucks that you had a pain trying to sort it out with customer services, but the lady I spoke to sorted it out and I had a new one 4 weeks later...they also sent me a new power pack because there was issues with a few of the first gens. Im not denying their were issues, but so many people milked it and a lot of fanboys use it as ammunition. I dont believe at all that anyone would put up with 3+ RROD unless you were just very unlucky, and it seems that there are a lot of people who say they have had more then 3. Ill just agree to disagree :)

@ditchyj Really?? Come on. The system had some issues, it was all over the news and this website. It was not a secret that we are just now exposing to you. But, yes I love my 360 enough to put up with all of the RROD issues. Microsoft never even gave me a problem about getting it exchanged until the last time. They said it was past the extended warranty. I told them that the issue was caused by them not me so the warranty does not apply and I want to speak to a manager. The same guy got back on the phone and told me that they would take care of it. The same guy also told me he gets calls just like mine all day. People having the same issue over and over and over. Did you even have a 1st generation 360? Or are you just talking?

I know when I received a replacement 360 that it had enough data on it that I knew it came from Great Britain, and all I did was plug it in. Can't remember specifics, that was a few years back - 3 ring replacement.

@BryanParksSuper But you are lying. Anyone who says they have had over 3 RROD on different consoles is talking complete B*llocks. You would either have to love the xbox sooo damn much you were willing to put up with sooo many failures, or your just full of it and over exaggerate. If you sent them off to MS, they would either compensate you for all those failings or resort to something more drastic to ensure your '4th,5th or 6th' (as some people) claim did not fail. No1 is that stupid. Im sorry but I and the rest of the community do not believe you.

Yeah you have to connect to live to access the data. MS isn't that stupid. You can have your points stollen from EA but that is as far as I have ever heard. To think that you can steal it from the consoles hard drive makes no sense. I am calling Troll shenanigans on this one!!!

@ditchyj I am on my 6th xbox. All because of RROD. FYI, I still have a working Atari 1600. I know how to take care of a system. The early 360's had a manufacturers defect that they really only fixed a couple of years ago. So, all of the replacements they kept sending out were sure to fail again as they had not been truly fixed. My newest replacement was after they solved teh RROD issue. So, I am sure it will last a long time to come.

@DitchyJ I had 3 or more Xbox's RROD on me and I took excellent care of my console. So yet again your saying we're lying. GTFO

@speed45823 no he hasnt lol Its nothing to do with money. The majority of people who say they have had 3 xbox's and they all broke etc..or either lying, or just really cant look after consoles. I can guarentee all these sony fanboys pretending they/their friends have had loads of RROD (even today when its virtually un-heard of, unless u bought one off ebay) have not played an xbox/they have and loved it so much it pi**ed them off that its become a threat to thier PS3 and they must denounce it/hate on it. Xbox live gold is mega cheap, less then a packet of cigerattes or 2 pints of beer - most americans can afford it if they stop supersizing their frigging fast food (only joking yanks :) love you really). Sony fanboys are really arrogant and expect they should get a lot for free because they have bought an overpriced console. The money paid into a gold account is used to improve xbox live (and it always shows), where as PS3 having it free (good for me because it means i dont have to subscribe to 2) ensures that it still has a really bad online experience, terrible browser, bad security, un polished user interface, and long as updates for huge amounts of bugs. I enjoy the PS3 for the exclusives, nothing more. You need to realise playstation + is a way for Sony making money off all these huge downfalls without making PS3 elitists angry and walk off to MS because of its more polished product. PS+ has featues that should have been standard (cross game party chat for a huge example). I love my consoles for the games, but I am also honast enough to see the downside in them without being completely blind like alot of fanboys out there. Cheers :)

@BryanParksSuper (It's Microsofts fault for making such a ****** console with ****** hardware. Yet u Xbots defend them. RROD and E74 were and still are a huge problem. Why Xbots want to go through when you can have a PS3 that won't break. There are Xbots out there who have suffered 5 or more RROD's on numerous Xbox's and there still supporting Microsoft. I like my consoles to last and Microsoft failed to that. Nintendo started gaming than Sony followed. Microsoft only got into consoles cause Sony and Nintendo had made consoles. Microsoft is trash and I'm only stating the obvious.) He's got a good point. So why all the thumbs downs? I guess some ppl r just swimming with money.

I play excessively and if I played with an xbox, that'd be too many visits to the red circle of death repair guy. My only reason. Otherwise I can afford it. People really should stop calling each other fanboys, they might have a legitimate excuse to like one of them more than the other, if they don't and they're too stubborn to try it out, give them hell, they're not objective, religiously defending one console to the other, why should they get to call people ten year old idiots who don't know what gaming is... Wii is garbage, it's very basic family fun console, not something that a gamer would want. But it's fun, just not sophisticated. Sony should start taking people's problems with their consoles seriously before they get sued. This is one serious issue.

@MrHanky35 Ah, for the record, I have never needed to trade in my consoles. Still have my first sega genesis (actually have 2 that still work), n64, xbox, ps2, xbox360, and wii. I think only the sega had problems with controllers that broke and the n64 had problems with the memory pack. But otherwise its been good. So I'd say it is about how lucky you can get as much as the quality I guess.

ninendo makes the best long lasting hardware. everything i have ever bought sence the original nes still works, and i have 2 of em, both work. the gba (original) used to boast that they could support 250lbs or something like that, and could be flushed in the toilet, dried off, and if you still wanted it, it ran. the only faulty nintendo product was the 64 controller coupled with the fishing mini game in zelda....so many controllers...hate the wii tho :P that being said, iv gone through : 2ps2s, 2xboxs, 3 360s, and the hdmi port on my ps3 is fried (lightning, not technicly sonys fault), and i got my first gaming pc last week so thats just new.

@solidusnyc2k9, How is that reaching? What does system age have to do with this? I mean, the Xbox 360 is almost 7 years old. Does that make the RRoD less relevant? Also, the PS One and PS2 disc-reading problems were much more than simple glitches. Sure, every system has its problem. But, not every system has problems on the level of the RRoD or DRE.

EVERY system has had its problems...my PS3 freezes when playing online sometimes, so I know it's clearly not the perfect system... but I worked at Gamestop a few years ago, and 360 Owners had plenty of RROD's or complain about their system give their games that 'circle scratch'...no system is better than the other, it's just a matter of preference, or a popularity contest....

@Mr_Mark_Legion, Don't get me started. I was working at a game retailer during the PS2 DRE debacle, and we got more than our share of angry PS2 owners whose consoles stopped reading certain discs. A friend of mine who worked at another store actually told me the store kept a defective PS2 they dubbed the "Rage PS2," which angry customers could hit with a hammer. I didn't have too much trouble with my PS2. Like I said earlier, only my launch-window model broke. I bought a 5000 series, which came out in late-2003, and it still works. I had far more difficulty with my PS Ones -- my launch unit and my 1996 model broke. I agree with @Toysoldier34 that it's kind of foolish to start calling out one company for faulty hardware. The truth is all three major console manufacturers have jerked me and many other people around. Frankly, the only equipment I trust is the stuff in my gaming PC.

@sleepnsurf My PS3 is one of the big ones (not slim), and it does well. Have only had one freeze since buying it 3 years ago. Sony goes wrong when they try and downsize things.

LOL @ Xbox fanboys! You all jumped on complaining about how bad Sony was when they had to shutdown the PSN when a seriously good group of hackers (who also hacked the CIA for gods sakes) got into everyones personal information through the PSN. Karma boys :P

@BryanParksSuper, It took almost five years and a class-action lawsuit to get Sony to own up to the disc read error problems the PS2 had. By comparison, MS seems super-fast and very compassionate. Yet, you trust...Sony?

Xbox is trash!!!! When 360 debuted and floods of reports came in bout the RROD, Microsoft denied that there was a problem. Only until 6 months later that MS said "Yeah we have a problem. You people trust MS when they flat out denied the RROD? MS also didn't believe that the 67% Failure Rate of the 360 was true. Microsoft can rot in hell.

Well I have a PS3 slim and it freezes all the time playing games. My 360 doesn't do that. At any rate, both good systems but 360 is a clear winner for online gaming.

@BryanParksSuper, I thought you were done with this argument. Exclusives outside Uncharted, Halo, GT and a few other franchises just don't sell. Apparently, Microsoft doesn't think traditional retail exclusives matter much anymore. And, if system and software sales are an indication, MS is right. I'm not happy with Microsoft's decision. I miss the days when my Xbox 360 and original Xbox had a ton of great exclusives. But, at the same time, I have a PS3, PC and Wii. So, I'm good. Sony and Nintendo still make a decent number of exclusives for their consoles. PS3 has been lacking in terms of exclusives when compared to older Sony platforms. Sure, it had more than MS last year. But, that's not saying much. There were, what, maybe a dozen or two exclusives last year? That would have been pathetic for the PS2, PS One or, heck, even original Xbox.

Maybe you all can tell me why Microsoft won't invest in more Exclusives? Microsoft believes that having only 4 Exclusives is ok. There scared of coming out with New Exclusives. 2011 was the year of the PS3. 2012 will also go to PS3 too. Microsoft only has Halo,Gears,Forza,Alan Wake as Exclusives.
