@JJMikhail actually for the first time last year i bought black ops, because my friends were pressuring me to (i dont really care whether you buy that excuse) and yes it quite is fun, but having played every cod since cod 4, im telling you that it is the same, and having played bfbc 1 and 2, im telling you i'm not supporting activision and wasting sixty bucks on mw3, when there are ALOT of good games coming out this fall, battlefield 3 included.
Publisher dismisses Findmakarov.com as "speculation"; online report pegs site as viral marketing for indie film.
Last week a Modern Warfare-themed countdown site dubbed Findmakarov.com went live and sparked rumors that Activision would reveal its latest Call of Duty project at this week's Game Developers Conference.
Now, that notion appears to be false.
In a statement sent to GameSpot, Activision said the following about the website: "There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing [anything] yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax."
According to Game Slice, the countdown site is not for Modern Warfare 3, but rather it is a marketing campaign for a Call of Duty-inspired indie film from Toronto, Canada, studio We Can Pretend. The studio has apparently produced such shorts as Doritos Tablet and Wateraid.
Additionally, Game Slice reports it has a still from the upcoming film, which sheds light on what the project might entail. The frame shows Modern Warfare 2's Simon "Ghost" Riley sitting inside some sort of military vehicle sporting his trademark mask.
Findmakarov.com's countdown clock ends at 7 a.m. PST on Wednesday, March 2. The date marks the busiest day of the Game Developers Conference, one that will see both the GDCAs and a keynote address by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. It is also the day that Apple is holding a nearby press conference at which it will likely unveil the next iPad.
When the Modern Warfare 3 reveal comes, it will be for a game with a checkered development history. Though not yet officially announced by Activision, the game is rumored to be in the works at Infinity Ward, a studio that spent much of last year racked by controversy. Following the firing of its cofounders Jason West and Vince Zampella, the Los Angeles shop saw massive staff defections. However, rumors have the game still in the works at a "reconstructed" Infinity Ward, albeit with the assistance of two other Activision studios: Madison, Wisconsin-based Raven Software and Redwood City, CA-based Sledgehammer Games.
As always, when a game is extremely popular and at the same time is an extremely good game, there will always be people saying how much it sucks and how much they hate it. It DOES NOT matter how good the game is. That's exactly how it is in the FPS genre with Call of Duty just as it is in the MMORPG genre with WoW. I play Black Ops casually and I enjoy it, it's a fun game when I'm in the right mood. I definitely won't be lining up on day one for MW3, but I will buy it many months after I've had a hefty helping of Battlefield 3, which I do intend on lining up on day one for.
@jonnybutler11 sorry but what makes a great game is sales, point about COD 2 is that it's one of the best selling games, destroying previous records in the first week of sales, period i own 30 games on the Xbox360, about 30 on the PC and 10 on the PS3, sorry AGAIN but we so-called "cod addicts" actually love gaming, period. just like the gaming minority do; you keep saying that its the same but yet you keep buying the next one??? you are either admirer of the Call of Duty series or a persistent whinger.
@JJMikhail LMAO buddy are you fried? Breath of fresh air MY BALLS the past 4 cod's have basically been the same thing over and over again. And also, there's s difference between a hardcore gamer and a cod addict. most people who play cod don't even own and/or play any other games, let alone know much about gaming. That's not what I call a hardcore gamer.
I hope battlefield and dice sh*t allover cod and activision. I don't understand how those douchebags at activision get away with repackaging the same content every year
I can wait another 50years and not miss playing CoD, the game has became so stale, plus theirs alot of good games out this year that I'd rather spend my money on if I'm to be honest.
I don't mind if I have to wait another 10 years for another COD. Because all the COD that have been made is still great to play with.
Infinity Ward Admits Modern Warfare 3 Is Less Technical Than Battlefield 3 http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Infinity-Ward-Admits-Modern-Warfare-3-Less-Technical-Than-Battlefield-3-30432.html
Raven is now working with infinity ward? THis is gonna be sick. Raven is known for violent, epic, and long single player campaigns.
@coylenintendo That's just an opinion, mate. Those of us who make our living by selling to the people you mentioned would like to ask that you shut it so we can keep the dough a' rollin', please :)
this is what they said about GKNOVA6, at that turned out to be call of duty related, so findmakarov is probably true
lol more than half of the people commenting this are gonna play the new COD game anyway. the ones that say COD is crap are the ones that probably play it for 15-20 hours a day but don't want to admit it. the rest are nerds with no lives that outplayed COD within a couple weeks, then they say it sucks. well that's because you're supposed to play video games sometimes, not all of the time. maybe you won't get tired of them so fast.
I never thought that the comments of Black Ops sucking would start before MW3 was even officially announced! You guys are unbelievable.
Yeah guys. You should have known that the March 2nd Modern Warfare 3 unveiling was a hoax! The REAL mw3 will be milked, err, I mean announced, March 3rd!
Here we go again, you'll see by the end of the year MW3 is gonna make another billion dollars, people just don't learn...
Man and here comes the hacking even before the games comes out, I fear all the hacking that would be done on the multiplayer, expect 41-0 16.00 death/kill ratio from some cheaters to been seen with more frequency :(
Eh. Not surprised there is another one. But then who is.heh. Anyways the only enjoyment i get out of the call of duty series is its zombie mode. I wonder when they will update the gameplay for the COD series?
@Tom Bergeman909 Nice rant, however why mention Microsoft when the post is talking about something that isn't something that isn't aimed specifically at Microsoft as an Industry? I really don't mind the COD and Activison hate but leave the fan boy hate out. Cheers :)
@wis3boi You mean one of the best selling games and has been played by many hardcore gamers who loved the COD series? We all know MW3 will come out, if you played MW2 you will know that for a fact. MW2 was a good game, so was MW1 and the COD series has been a breath of fresh air for gamers...
Can the next COD game have an assassination mission targeting the head of a corrupt organisation? MR KOTICK COME ON DOWNNNNNN! In regards to the fact of another COD game coming out this year, one word....."Baaaaaaa"....thats is all
It really doesnt matter if Activision announces MW3 cause im not buyin it. Killzone 3 is what COD will never be. COD is just a franchise that Activision plans on milking for all its worth. The MP never changes year to year and its getting old and boring. I prefer games like Killzone Series and Uncharted Series over COD. The MP has been same since COD4. Activision wants to make a new COD every year. Well go ahead. There are better FPS games being made that really stand out and deliver a experience that COD can never achieve. COD will end up like Guitar Hero it will eventually DIE. Activision and Microsoft are the most greedy Companies to ever hit the game industry. I hope 1 day COD will die and everyone will move on.
@campbell153 actually you should hate kotick (name doesn't deserve to start with a capital).. Activision was great before he came along and ruined it, remember most of the people at in the company are just doing what they love, koticks the one forcing them to churn out game after game.
Still doesn't change the fact that MW3 will roll onto shelves this November and millions upon millions of sheep will line up to toss their sweaty 20 dollar bills at it
Activision would never take credit for such a site in the first place, so it should be no surprise that they're calling it a hoax. It's all meant to build up the hype. And it's working. Notice that the mere mention of MW3 has rocketed it to the 2nd most popular game, on Gamespot's homepage. That's what you call strategy. Black Ops was a hugely popular release, and Activision is cleverly trying to set up Modern Warfare 3 to be even more popular.
Well of course they're going to deny the website. Like they're actually just going to give away information.
