Mojang will 'consider' Minecraft for PlayStation

Mojang will look into bringing Minecraft to PlayStation platforms once its exclusivity deal with Microsoft ends; Wii U version "very unlikely."
Swedish developer Mojang has said it will consider porting its breakout hit Minecraft to Sony consoles.
A console exclusivity deal between Mojang and Microsoft is keeping the game off Sony devices, but in an interview with iGamer (via Edge), Mojang developer Jens Bergensten said, "When it runs out, we'll consider Minecraft for PlayStation."
Bergensten didn't say if that meant PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4. Speaking about Nintendo's consoles, however, Bergensten said a version of Minecraft on the Wii U would be "very unlikely."
Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was one of Microsoft's biggest successes in 2012, with the game quickly becoming the fastest-selling Xbox Live Arcade game of all time. The port was handled by Scottish developer 4J Studios and has now sold over 5 million copies.
It is unknown just how long Minecraft's exclusivity period with Microsoft will last, but the Xbox 360 Edition came out in May 2012.

i would love it on PS3 as well i would buy it even though i already have it on PC and 360 it's just that much fun
1 Like @MajinSquall Wouldn't be fun on PS3, it's shit on my Xbox 360 compare to PC. Everything is so limited and the lack of texture pack is making not want to play it that much either.
It would be awesome to have it for PS4, it will be better than PC, since they know every single unit has 8GB od GDDR5 RAM so they can customize it all the way to the top.
Mojang only put this out so Microsoft would want to buy it again so they have no competion to compete with, its just marketing schemes
I'd imagine the agreement is the only justification for not doing it, otherwise it sounds like a license to print money if the xbox port is anything to go by.
And the Wiiu is left out in the cold again by 3rd party devs. guess this is the generation where we find out if a home console could ever honestly stand on just the big N's games alone.
Just how many times will we buy the same Zelda, Mario and Metroid games every generation?
1 Like Minecraft doesn't look that demanding a game and most people have some sort of computer in their home so I don't understand why there is even a demand for it on consoles.

@grasshopper6 You realize every company pays money for exclusive titles right? It's like Nintendo paying to have Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive on the WiiU.
@Iamshmee As far as I've heard, they didn't pay Platinum off for Bayonetta 2. They simply offered to publish it and work with them. They've stated that they would refrain from slipping cash to developers and instead offer to collaborate. :/
HA, finally, I've been hoping or this for years. Funny enough, this comes out about 2 months after I finally bought MC for pc, lol.
Mojang is considering to port it's piece of shit Minecraft game to the PS3 how nice, just note that most of the game developer's are incompetent to port games to the PS like the money hungry, anything for a quick buck Bethesda it took them 8 months to be able to port the DLC to the PS. It was only suppose to be a month exclusive.
That's why Sony is making the PS4 developer friendly The Motto: "Even the retards can do it."

2 Like Wasn't it only a couple months that Mojang said they weren't planning on coming to any other formats besides mobile and pc? I wouldn't bet money on the long-term validity of this statement. But if so it's a shame... the touchscreen of Wii-U seems MADE for Minecraft. Same for controller play and everything.

1 Like @TheAlmightyCow Well that is true :P I didn't mean it literally though , it just seems that having an extra touch screen would make it a LOT easier to equip items , even with the current quick-equip slots I still feel I need more sometimes. Having the whole inventory on the screen with only needing to tap the item to equip it would feel quite natural. Not only that but the map , crafting , books , controller play ,..tons of features that seem like a natural fit for wii-u. And I could understand that.. just don't personally mod myself :P

While I won't buy it, the controller would be an amazing way to interact with the inventory/craft table/any pop-up window Minecraft has.
poor nintendo not doin so well nowdays :(..... anyway I think a ps3/ps4 version of MC would be fine. but I think I'm gonna stick with the 360 version for a bit. I got a back log like you dont believe right now :P
I have never played minecraft outside of playing the xbox demo but i understand that there is crafting involved in the game and an inventory screen that would really work well on the Wii U tablet controller. It is one of the few games that may actually have use for the tablet controller without having to forcefully put something in. Not to mention the graphical style suits the nintendo style.
@ManHooYin Actually, that's a pretty good point. It would go nicely on the DS or 3DS too.
@jellyman68 ds definitely couldn't and 3ds isn't likely to have the power for minecraft. It might look simple but it takes a bit to power that game... unless it's the awful shoehorning called minecraft mobile.

The last several weeks or so developers have made it a point to voice that they're not interested in bringing their titles to the Wii U. The one common denominator with these jokers is that none of them are Japanese developers, maybe Nintendo should take this as a sign to only work with 3rd parties in their home territory.
Maybe even publishing some of their games and getting some great exclusives out of it, dancing with these developers outside of Japan is just a big waste of time.

Nintendo has only been doing what they've always done over the years.....continue to wow gamers and this industry with their franchises and trying different directions in gameplay.
We sit in an industry that looks at Nintendo and judges them harshly as kid friendly and yet we miss the biggest point of all.....despite weather you're with Sony or MS to a non gamer if you're an adult (it doesn't matter what games you play) you look like a geek or big kid that plays video games.
