Next-gen Final Fantasy tech demo shown

WOW!!!!

Great visuals, as expected from SqaureEnix. But i think FFV should be like FFIX, take it back to the roots. Medieval setting, a reference to past games here and there, fixed calsses... Take a break from futuristic setting. I played VII and VIII and both are great games (I kinda think VII is a bit overrated and VIII underrated), but IX was a really refreshing game and reminded me a lot of the original which is probably my favorite in the series. Maybe X and XII change that when i play them, but FFI has a special place among games I played. And make it for the PC, not all of us have PS3.

DId anyone notice how that old man looks like Ezio in ACR?! Anyway, I can't say i like this video so much, it's strange, specially for SquareEnix.

ye i am not buying anything you "supposedly" present as a preview Square Enix...You reluctantly refused to make a remake of FF7 after TEASING the hell out of us back in 2005 just because you are FIXATED on creating an "FF Experience" that will surpass FF7...Well judging from the results so far ... it didn't work so well did it...The only FFs that are close or the same as good as FF7, are FF8 and FF10...If you are going to tease us once again with WHAT THE NEXT-GEN CAN DO (This is EXACTLY what Square Enix said back in 2005 with FF7 Tech Demo) then thanks but NO thanks ! Nobody is falling for that anymore..

For a tech demo, it looks very impressive.  Of course, we all know that tech demos don't translate that well to actual gameplay, but from a purely technical standpoint, this engine looks like it will give the other high profile engines a run for their money.  Whether this kind of 'realism' is needed in many games going forward is debatable.

well at least make a final fantasy that doesnt have guns in it....

Final fantasy doesnt feel like Final Fantasy when there is modern weapon mix in with a fantasy game

COD: Black Ops + meet Dragon Age: Origins + meet Final Fantasy  = EPIC FAIL

Why all games start changing their styles to modern warfare game play

It's a tech demo people, not representative of the any game to come. As for everyone mentioning Final Fantasy 13 Versus, why do people treat it like a messiah of Final Fantasy series? I hate to say it but to me it now seems like vaporware, I would love to see it come but at this point I very much doubt it will. Even if it does come out however with the ridiculous hype it's generated people are again going to be disappointed. All because it won't match up to the god-like expectations that people place on the quality of a game after seeing a couple of trailers these days.

I'm tired of guns in final fantasy games. It was only acceptable in Barret's gun arm and Squall's and Seifer's gun blades.

Looks really good for real time, but I guess we'll see if they can actually make a game that runs and plays well out of the tech.

Wake me up when they fix the godawful game play, equipment/skill diversity and writing....

The core series is less core than the spin-off games now...

if the story is good and the game play is fun, i would love to get my hands on that game in a year  for my console and do without some of the extra pretty rendering.

Engine looks great but it's a tech demo, creating a game using it is another.

well i love the graphics and effects..but i'm not sure if it's worth it cuz i need the gameplay!!~

So what the next final fantasy will be about jason bourne?

Square sunk so much expense into the graphics they forgot to purchase a Steadicam...

wow makes the games look amazing ohh that reminds me when is FINAL FANTASY VERSUS 13 coming out although its not that level of graphics it will by far do!

wow. Here is hoping it is actually fun to play. Squenix doesn't know how to make fun anymore though; only graphics. 

Better looking teeth instead of textured on polys teeth, not needed but nice... Lots of special effects seem to be what this is about.

Doubt you'd get that in gameplay,  would be more likely in cutscenes and their usual lower poly/textured characters during the action... Nice amounts of particle effects and smooth lighting definately wouldn't get all that running with the hair and fur effects on everyone on todays consoles... But really isn't needed.

Could be an interesting story if they decide to go with it.

I'm so tired of these tech demos.  They're fun to look out but this is never what appears in a game.  I was more impressed with "Watch Dogs" and "The Last of Us", at least they're being played.

Of course its realtime, but with exacted scenes and postprocessing that can begine for the next scene before it 'airs' since its predetermined.  Lets see what they hope to accomplish on realtime gameplay graphics.

wow, they manage to have time to make new engine instead of finishing FF Versus 13 or localize FF type-0, ironic.

What the hell was that? Looked like a FF and COD crossover...

 @dr_jashugan  I agree they should show us some gameplay or we could assume that the gameplay sucks and they wanna make it up in cut scene graphics

That demo doesn't tell anything, because we all know that CUTSCENES are NOT THE SAME as GAMEPLAY. 8-\

When Ps3 has to come, I saw FF tech mode and it was ground breaking..  this looks like   5 years old game on PC.  +  Its always fail to show next gen tech show on fantasy genre. Better is fantasy -  complex cities, billboards, vehicles..  not that weirdy  inside cave where we cant see anything. 

Does this mean we can finally get to play FF  on PC (not counting FF7 & FF8)?

where is FFvsXIII? did it got cancelled or what?

You sure this is Final Fantasy and not Uncharted?

The only thing making this look good graphically is the frame rate.  Other than that, looks no better than Heavy Rain or Max Payne 3.
