Yes, id say its a fair assumption to say that Developers have got their hands on Dev kits.

Hmm...Same manufacturer...not sure I trust them. Although you can't give them too much blame; they just built the systems, microsoft's engineers designed it.

Honestly, I shouldn't be giving Microsoft another chance at the console war, I'm on my 4th 360, and I shouldn't have ever had to go past 2. I'm only giving them a chance because they have a better online service than sony does (you get what you pay for in this market), and on top of that, they have the best controller (in my opinion) out of the big 3.

I am excited for Next Gen!

RROD part deux?

I guess I got my 360 kinda late, some 3 years ago or so. But it has been a trooper, still working just fine, and it's been around! :)

Try not to make them practically spontaneously combust this time you dimwit greedy twits at Microsoft.  I'm still mad about it, I'm on my 4th 360, the amount time I spend fixing those things, on the phone, picking them up, etc was absurd and times that by millions of people.  

Dev kits are usually different beasts to the released products.  So they might be making a dev kit and releasing it, which is understandable as I am sure there are devs working on projects now for the next gen consoles and a lot is up in the air until a dev kit rocks up.  And MS will certainly want to know what is coming in the "Launch Window"

Then we would miss out on some of great gaming franchises.  Turn your back on it if you will, but I'm glad they're in the business, and the original Xbox is what brought me into online gaming, so I hope they're hear to stay. Competition makes the gaming business better and we reap the benefits. Would you rather it just be one company?

Well, to give them credit, this is a PROTOTYPE, this isn't what they are going to be selling at launch. They have time to fix it and I'm hoping to God their isn't going to be a RROD 2.

This probably refers to the new 360 revision coming out later this year, not a brand new console.

@Sharaddon you wrong about one thing graphics evolution now depends on consoles, crysis 2007 game, look at 2011-2012 games graphics almost the same, differences only is what nowadays games using dx11 which allowing to use some few new graphical technologies like tessellation, and  higher polygon numbers thats it, so graphics will change only than new generation console will come

thats great, i expecting no less than 8 physical cores cpu and gpu witch will render photo realistic graphics(something like Avatar) if not, ill be very disappointed, i hope sony or microsoft one of those companies will do what im expecting, cause PC is about one  generation ahead and considering visuals of arma 3(yes only, few screenshots) but im thinking photo realistic graphics should be accessible for next-gen console at least later on of life cycle

I'm wondering if their's a connection with the developers receiving these kits and them hinting about consoles that block used media. Even if the kits are not representative of the final product I can assume that MS and Sony is experimenting with implementing a DRM that can be used to block 2nd hand market. Though still not official lets hope they get the message that people don't want such BS in their next gen consoles.

No thanks, I had a lot of luck that my Zephyr didint melted. II will buy a Nintendo next gen console first again and since I can trust Big N for not making a bomb that can explode at any chance, I will wait  for the slim versions of the next gen Xbox and Ps for a secure system without overheating.

Another piece of crap manufacturing start ,I m welling to see ,what technology Microsoft copying this time ,I  mean they are smart cheater ,after all this ,they made (XBOX crap) and what you got , tag price unexpectedly high ,  + accessories only  made by microsoft ,PC Like window 8  interface ,& 3 continuous boring game series ,Gears of war ,Halo ,Forzamotor sport ,Only smart thing about this XBOX Crap that they using AMD Technology

As per Gaming Experience is consider PC is Far better than Consoles , Consoles using same technology for 6-7 years(Gaming technology developed at very high rate 6-7 years is to much to play types of games with same graphics), & higher gaming price , useless Joystick ,kinect supports kiddish types of  games , & in consoles PS4 is much better Prospect than XBOX Crap,Complete Entertainment with nothing to compromise 

The next generation of hardware is going to be a hard sell for me.

As a late-adoption PC gamer, I've enjoyed being able to play with the accuracy and responsiveness of a  mouse, combined with the far greater customizations and control options provided by a keyboard. Additionally, PC games tend to have lower prices and more frequent discounts/sales than consoles, thanks to the convenience of digital distribution. Many AAA titles on PC (Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Battlefield) drop by at least 25-50% within 3 months of release.

I wouldn't mind a console. Right now, however, I would prefer to buy a last gen PS3 or 360, discounted due to the existence of a prettier big brother. With a mature library of games and bugs in manufacturing all but eliminated (RROD, YLOD, disc scratching), I find last gen consoles to be more desirable than an unproven "new shiny thing on the block" system.

Once the new systems are put through their paces, software and hardware kinks are worked out, and the game library is respectable, I'll consider upgrading.

Im really glad that these kits are being distributed to Developers now, this will allow plenty of time for them to become familiar with the hardware.

I can pretty much guarantee you all that Microsoft learned their lesson with the Red Ring situation. They lost millions replacing dead consoles and they don't want to repeat that process. I can almost say they'll go out of their way to make sure it doesn't happen again. And despite all the RRoD situations, it didn't stop people from buying the system at all.

seriously, they're comedians. And MS is the stage. Who wants a new console now?

If the next gen Xbox has any kind of console killing RRoD issues, I'm going to call for an Occupy Microsoft rally.

The RRoD was caused by poor design on Microsoft's part. The initial design consisted of fanless heatsinks, 2 tiny 60mm fans for exhaust, and the whole thing was wrapped in an aluminum and plastic shell. It was designed to overheat.
