I still believe the rumors about Doom 4 being "put on indefinite hold", despite what id/Bethesda are telling us. It's supposably beein in development the last 3-4 years or longer, but we haven't seen anything other than some leaked concept art? Face it, id games are washed up as developers. Even John Carmack's idtech 5 engine isn't impressive, and their tech was the only thing that was supposed to make the company stand out. they're has beens and Doom 4 is doomed.
QuakeCon 2012 rumbles August 2-5
Free public gaming expo hits Dallas, Texas, in early August; upcoming Bethesda titles on hand.
Gamers eager to book flights and reserve hotel rooms for QuakeCon 2012 now have the official green light, as event organizer Bethesda Softworks today announced that the show will descend upon Dallas, Texas, August 2-5, 2012.
The show is free and open to the public and will take place at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. Keeping with its yearly tradition, QuakeCon 2012 will host a large-scale bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party, which has become North America's largest such gathering.
Other details concerning the show are thin. However, gamers can expect to get their hands on upcoming titles from Bethesda Softworks and sister studio id Software during the convention. Specific games were not mentioned, but projects in development at Bethesda and id include Prey 2, Dishonered, and Doom 4.
Panel discussions at last year's QuakeCon included chats about first-person shooter games from employees of Respawn Entertainment and id Software, as well as talks of origin stories from Arkane and Insomniac Games.
