Capcom exec confirms work did not begin on PC version until after console iterations were entirely completed; won't make same mistakes as Resident Evil 4 PC.
The console versions of Capcom's much-anticipated zombie shooter Resident Evil 6 will hit store shelves in two weeks, but gamers holding out for the PC version will need to wait a while longer. Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson has confirmed through the Capcom Unity blog that work did not begin on the PC version until the console iterations were completed and approved by Microsoft and Sony.
He said Capcom did not begin on a PC version of Resident Evil 6 earlier because waiting until the console versions were complete allowed the developer to use the final codebase as a starting point.
"It will be some time still before we provide details on release dates and PC specific parameters," Svensson said.
The executive revealed that a "small, but appropriately sized" team is working on Resident Evil 6 for PC. He said it is a different group than had been originally planned, but he claimed this team will "do a better job."
Lastly, Svensson spoke to some gamers' belief that Capcom does not put enough effort into its PC games. He said though this may have been the case before, it won't be for Resident Evil 6.
"Projects like this you guys seem to think are 'trivial' but they are not," he said. "When they get treated as trivial, you end up with Resident Evil 4 PC… which I don't think too many true fans were pleased with."
not sure i am bothered about this game i mean i did not build my pc to play shedloads of quicktime events in a game :/ and lets face it this one has them by the S load.

@diabloakaSAHA Lol can you be more retarded? :D
@diabloakaSAHA hahaha PC hasn't got games huh? yeah ok if you say so.
@diabloakaSAHA LOL at your comment. Your opinion is pathetic, uneducated and blatantly biased. As the owner of 12 gaming consoles, and a 360/wii/3ds in the current gen I have to say that no, PC gaming is definitely NOT dying. If anything it is becoming stronger. With steam becoming dominant piracy is actually becoming less effective, games are cheaper and easier to update, access and network between friends. I am finding that as this gen is near the end of its life cycle, consoles are becoming increasingly weaker and the gap between pc and consoles is widening with PC dominating in to many areas. Namely, graphics which will always be better, control method - always will be better and more variety, interaction between players ie clans - always will be easier on pc, hackers - way easier to deal with on PC. Now to games - sure this can go either way but I think PC is the king here. Consoles may have semi-good 'exclusives' that will never be natively on PC but so does PC. The total war games among most RTS games comes to mind. No pathetic console would be able to effectively run Shogun total war 2 like the PC platform can.
So in summary, I think that you should not be completely biased towards PC gaming and that it is not dying as both consoles and PC's have strengths and enjoy playing on both of them.
lol all this flame war over the console vs pc just makes me glad that over the years i was able to buy the xbox360 the ps3 and my intel core i7 1 gig graphics card 8 gigs corsair vengeance pc
for fps like cod and battlefield and rts i play on my pc
has for sports games like fifa and exclusives i use my ps3
and my shitbox360 i only use that for exclusives like gow halo
overall i pretty much enjoy alot more gaming in my pc....
So in other words, we're getting a console port.
At least they were honest about it. Ubisoft and Rockstar doesn't say shit when they delay the PC version of their games.
They better have a good reason behind it. After waiting for so long and now you tell me the date haven't confirm yet. It is frustrating to holding your wallet and sit there like an idiot. If my patience ran out, i better just turn my eye on other games.
It's better to wait a while then getting something like RE4, because that port was sh*t.
tried the X360 version and it' bad, like terribad.
RE5 was meh, Op Raccon City was garbage, RE6 is the worst thing ever. Don't even care about a pc port
I don`t care anymore.....I`ll wait at the bargain bin or there is that "Super Ultra Limited Edition with all the DLC" if there isn`t then its a no buy. Get angry with your wallets and stop buying from crappy capcom who are against PC gamers.
why are they delay the game release on pc ?
at last it will be the same game on PS3/XBOX360 with no difference so why the delay
Lastly they say a new team has been put into place for the PC version. LOL where was this team months ago so the release dates could be the same??? One Word, LAME!!! its not hard to see that Capcom, one of my all time fav developers and one of the oldest has lost my respect.
I'm not sure if any of you knowticed, b, ut the same effort is also being put into devil may cry, seems it wont be release until "some time later". Why cant they just make a pc team so that the launch dates are all the same? after reading alot of the post here seems that capcon really isnt interested in the pc platform and are using excuses to keep us pc gamers from whining......soooooo sad!!
now listen suxaas this is for those who cant afford good rigs......and using 6 year old crappy hardware GO GET A LIFE.
I cleaned about an inch thick layer of dust from my xbox 360 to play this game. I made the transition to PC about a year and a half ago when I figured it was time to move on.
The graphical setback from being used to 1080p/60fps+ gameplay is pretty substantial but the game is actually very good.
You console kiddies are retarded. Sure, the industry is catering to you kids right now but what you don't know, is that these companies business deals keep good stuff from getting to your hands. Example? Skyrim on PS3. Where's Dawnguard? I don't know. ON MY PC! LMAO! When's the last time my PC yellow lighted or 3RROD? I dunno, NEVER! Because it works for years on end with no interruptions! I've spent like 3-500 on my PC, and my latest games are working perfect. Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, and so on, so forth. I can even use a 360 controller if I wanted to.
@BreakerTMG dude u are so ignorant with your shots yelling out at hardware you don't understand. If u wanna act like that lets look at 360/ps3 vs pc. 360 $250, ps3 $300. I own both never had a problem both 1st gen. from 05'/06' to no so 6 to 7 years no upgrades needed. computer bought in 2005 $1000 custom rig. needed upgrades to even compete with the consoles in 09', needs another upgrade today in 12'. Yeah the consoles have medium to low graphics compared to pc, but they fucking last until the gen console is released. 360 $250 so far lasted with top triple a games 7 years. Custom built rig made from 05 $1000 + another $1000 in upgrades over the 7 year span. So u tell me which one is more cost efficient a console or a pc?
today when i look at BF3 on my cousin's PS3 it has shitty graphics. like the difference between the graphics on PS1 compared to PS3
on pc good graphic's card can stay with you up to 3 years also for the processor.and you can upgrade one part at a time.
PS3 when it first came out on 2005 it was 1000$ price and has the same graphics as the pc then it couldn't hold it's position against the pc for more than a year.
also ps3 had Dx9 while PC had DX10 on 2005.
and the new generation PS4 will be 1000$+ and will not exceed the graphics on the pc
@haider7758 @BreakerTMG my point was if your a pc gamer, and have been gaming since 2005 same time the 360 came out you would have to upgrade you pc 3 times to play current times games. Are the graphics better on pc? Hell yeah they are, but do they have the same games for the console? yes. So again $350 for a console no upgrades needed. Pc upgrade 3 times arund $1000 in upgrades, and at that time in 05 to have equivalent to the 360 would be a round a $1000 computer. So you play the same games pc$2000, 360 lower graphics same games $350.
@rustypro98 @BreakerTMG Hm i get ur point. But for a console you need a TV, and who has a console has a pc, so if u take that money off the console and buy a better pc u get an All in one. Its a matter of subjectivity but, a 300? pc is better than a console, the problem is that games are not optimized to play in it. Did u see the consoles hardware?Just have that in mind before saying such thingsConsoles are worst in HardwarePC's are worst in game optimizing since u make a game for all kinds of hardware, My opinion: PCI get mods, better graphics, can play well with gamepads , even have the razer thing that is like the wii controller, I just love modding, I can work, be in facebook, steam, xfire etc. Multiplayer works better, I have better accuracy and feels better to play with a mouse/keyboard, Also, I can play with emulators, thats just my opinion :3 Instead of wasting 500-600 on a laptop and 300 more on a console I wasted 900-1000 on a pcAsrock z77 Extreme4GTX670 OCi5 2320 @ 3,5 Ghz 3 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1888Mhz 2TB HDD
@SqualleoN_xD @BreakerTMG my point was if your a pc gamer, and have been gaming since 2005 same time the 360 came out you would have to upgrade you pc 3 times to play current times games.
@BreakerTMG HELL, you even use a PS3 controller if you wanted! The PC is like an all in one!
With a 360 controller it does. It vibrates and everything. When playing Borferlands 2 and Skyim on my PC with a 360 controller, it feels no different. But playing in full 1080p and HD textures is truly a sight to behold.
Never cared for RE so this game and company can suck it.
Where there problems with RE 5 on PC? I seriously didn't hear of them and it worked fine for me. I think they want to keep RE 6 off PC to get as much mula from the console marked as they can.
PC Gaming is dead!!! All PC has is MMO's. RE began on PS2 so PC people shouldn't even get RE 6. It's all bout consoles now. It's going stay that way too.
@BryanParksSuper hahahahahahahaha did you use your console to post here?
@BryanParksSuper What's that? I couldn't hear you over the awesomeness of games like Starcraft 2, Total War, Dawn of War, ARMA 2, and Half-Life!
@BryanParksSuper lol dude re started on n64 and playstation.
@BryanParksSuper began on PSX
@BryanParksSuper LOL @ Day dreaming
This leaves me with 3 options:
1) Wait until the PC version is released on Steam, but I will likely lose interest by then.
2) Borrow the game from my cousin and try to find the 360 in my attic that has been collecting dust for a few years.
3) Just forget the whole thing and not even attempt to play it anymore.
Either way, Capcom probably won't be seeing my money anymore because of this. I don't buy console games...
Leaving Capcom the only option that matters: Focusing on the versions of the game meant for the platform it both started on and will actually make worthwhile money on.
I'm sure one day PC gamers will find it within themselves to get over waiting a few extra months to either rent the game on Steam for 90% off or flat out pirate it like they do with most other games.. and they wonder they've settled into their nice ass groove on the backburner all these years.
they do this also maybe so theres no massive pirates downloads i think
but anw lol why ppl mad...resident evil always sell crap on pc's anw its a console game pure and simple
@Albaficas 360 piracy is more common than you think. It isn't hard to buy a flashed console and burner.
Why are the PC gamers so mad anyway?
If you want a game like RE to play on a PC shame on you!
PC gaming is mainly for FPS and RTS games and even at that its only for the extreme gamers, console sells more because theirs not the same massive piracy issue that the PC has with people being able to download a game for absolutely nothing.
@Keitha313 1 answer mate .....The witcher 2 ......there that right there was released 1st for pc and it was made by cd project red w/o any DRM........They had faith and did u know what happened? PC people bought their game by the shitloads....And it wis one of the best looking titles of PC to date....cant wait for their next game....BTW i play sports games on pc and yeah i play FIFA with keyboard....PC is the father of gaming.....we were cracking in goals with marc overmaars in fifa 2000 when u kiddies were wiping ur boo boos...
@Keitha313 "PC gaming is mainly for FPS and RTS" explains your understanding of PC gaming lol. Honestly speaking PC is better from each and every perspective when it comes to gaming in general. First PC does not hinder the potential of developers due to years old hardware limits, secondly PC development is not slowed down by stupid approvals by companies like Microsoft and Sony, thirdly it provide better visuals, better controls and is supported by huge and vibrant community and talented modders who put new life into games.
As for piracy. It is only an excuse or myth which consolers like you always use to show weakness in PC gaming but I say why everyone is eager to get in the business of digital distribution if PC games sell that low ? example Steam, EA Origin, Ubisoft Uplay, Aido, Direct2Drive, Good Old Games and others. Are they fool enough to invest in this area if they know that there is no potential in PC market ?
To be honest you guys should leave the excuse of PC piracy behind because it has no weight or ground now.
@Tahir_Ahmad STFU copy paster u dnt know anything abt pc gaming
@Albaficas @Keitha313 The amount of posts you made explains who is trying really hard to prove his point, whats even more funny is that you didn't even answered my original question "Why the hell is everyone eager to go in DD business, if there are poor sales on PC ?"
And whats the point of making AAA quality exclusives like Sony if you are still lagging behind in sales ROFL, don't understand what I mean ? then read this console kid to see whats going on....
The thing is you console kids don't have any solid argument to support your aging platform except blah blah blah about sales.
Its you who need to get back to reality kid, PC games do sell very well. I am not talking about crap console ports with reduced graphics and nonsense controls but games that are made with PC in mind sell well and that is the reason everyone is willing to get in DD business. And what exclusivity your are talking about ? compare your crap Skyrim with a modded PC Skyrim and you'll see what exclusivity we enjoy on PC, even the most retarded console port looks better and runs better on PC, that's the exclusivity of PC.
The exclusivity you are talking about mostly comes from the bribes that Sony and Microsoft pay to third party developers to make their titles exclusives to XB360 or PS3, if Steam or some other PC oriented company start to pay devs millions of dollars then PC will also see more exclusives but we all know that this dirty business trick is only beneficial for console manufacturers like Sony and M$ not the devs. So get your facts straight before you another of your laughable posts.
"As for piracy. It is only an excuse or myth".. denial is a powerful thing is it not?
@Keitha313 FPS and RTS are better on the PC by far not because they are for extreme gamers, but because the mouse and keyboard setup is simply better. Steam allows people who prefer playing games on their PC to still enjoy "console" games without having to go and buy the watered down technology in crappy consoles. "Console" games generally tend to look much better on the PC as a result, not top mention modding and more control.
PC gamers are mad because they prefer PC gaming, they don't want to own **** consoles, but they still enjoy many of the games that are on consoles.
devs will always think pc for last since except very few franchise like starcraft, world of warcrap and diablo the rest are just sales failures not to mention the whole piracy paradise happening..thts why devs dont bother with pc,its a waste of money for them since consoles games always sales 3 to 1 more and get the better deals
and also we are not all money whores buying every single last tech for pc...like probably nerds like you kkthxbb.
