Picked it up for $19.99 at Best Buy. For that price I'm in. I rented it earlier and I like the return to darkness and "zombies" alot better. Seriously though, there's alot more game here than deserved a 4.5 and I felt the same way about Racoon City which received the same score. Achievement hunting was fun in RC and the game had a few mechanics I wouldn't mind seeing in RE proper, such as the 3rd person view/camera that was used and the kung fu hand-to-handfighting. I'd like to see RE proper become as (overall) agile as RC was with camera, movement and hand-to-hand...
New title update will tweak difficulty and make quick-time events easier.
Capcom has announced a second title update for Resident Evil 6, further tweaking the game's options and adding additional features to last year's often-criticised take on the survival horror series.
The free update will go live on January 22 and offer a handful of changes, reports Capcom Unity, notably allowing the QTE Assist feature to be used across all difficulty levels, which should make the lives of anyone attempting a run-through on Professional a lot more bearable. Some unspecified levels have also had their difficulty tweaked.
There's also the option to replay specific levels from the game's lengthy chapters, which should make the serpent emblems a lot easier to collect.
Finally, the game's Agent Hunt multiplayer mode will now be available to all players from the beginning. Previously, gamers were required to complete one of the game's campaigns to access the mode.
Capcom addressed some of the game's complaints--such as the close-up camera angles and the locked-off Ada Wong campaign--in its last title update, which was released in December.
Resident Evil 6 received a 4.5 in its GameSpot critique, with the review stating that "this long, poor sequel is the ultimate test of patience for even the most dedicated."
One of those games you wish you had a time machine to go back and stop the game from ever coming out. I'd rather play RE5 (again).
now fix the camera in the game, specifically when it just decides to complete rip away from what you're doing and focus on some other action, and fix the running.... seriously, when you start to run it's like your character is running against ground moving in the opposite direction. Completely ridiculous.
I have a better idea, just remove 90% of the cgi, and all of the quick-time events, add in horror and spooky atmosphere, and nix the military crap.

Usually when DLC starts out as an XBox exclusive, it gets to PS3 a month and a bit later. I'd guess sometime in February.
The name "Biohazard" (which should be the right and original name) suggests a biological threat that is present somewhere in our planet. And this name does not necesarily suggest a horror story exclusively. Instead, this name should adapt to tell different stories (like those already existent in RE4, 5 and 6) which involve action, politics, ethics, and sometimes (but not always) horror.
So, Capcom should never have changed the original name to "Resident Evil", and, in that logic, all RE games should adjust very well if we keep the original game name.

great, another re6 article means another reason for whiners to complain about how crappy re6 is. id love to talk about how im looking forward to this update but my posts will probably be drowned out by all the negative posts so whats the use.
Since I lost everything in my PS3 due the formatting, I prefer to get a future "Gold Editon" of RE 6. This 1st version is just wrap crap.
I lost all faith in this franchise after the first few missions of RE5... When they started riding those motor-bikes and the thrill of the chainsaw man eventually went away it really became an awful version of RE4.. RE6 just didn't look appealing to me at all.. As for QTE, they suck.. Only use them when there's ABSOLUTELY no other way the game can be played unless you put a cut-scene.. The only game I've played so far to do this accordingly is Far Cry 3.. SO accordingly, in fact, I didn't even realise they were happening most of the time

The decreased Japanese-ness all across the gaming world is leading to totally 5h!t, dumbed down, over-simplified, run-and-gun, everything explodes, money-grabbing, thoughtless, soulless western trash.
I haven't played the game yet, though I will soon, but with all these big updates, it sounds like Capcom should have held the game a little longer, and worked out all the bugs before releasing it.

There is a point in higher difficulties, if you can't do it dont play lol. Maybe they can scale the difficulty of the QTEs with the difficulty of the game (if they haven't already) that would make more sense. I played this game on professional with that skill that lets your AI partner heal you when you're done, and it was not hard...the climbing sequence and Chris's end chase sequence was a bit annoying but nothing controller-throwing worthy ;)
@IrishConnor94 They are not bugs. Just something to please those who complained. In fact, I haven't found any bug myself yet after played through all playable characters.

In fact, I have quite a positive impact after playing this game. If you hate Capcom for their business practice, that's fine. Don't just hate the game for that. Let me show some haters how you can look at the bright side of this game.
1) Free online support (updates, events, personal status, unlockables, etc).
2) Much improvement from its prequels: online gaming improve; new game mode Agent hunt and more to come; more way to control your characters (duck, slide, evade left-right, variety malee attacks, different reaction for different character or weapons use, more dialog option to communicate); co-op online gameplay at the story intersections; etc.
3) Replay value for in-game secret (many control secrets, you can unlock additional items besides Serpent emblems in some stage), hiden bosses and unlock costumes-character for those characters you get A in any mercenaries stages.
4) Without QTE, the game would be tedious. It's an innovative way to enhance story telling, give immersive experience and chances to control what seem like cut scenes. However, sometimes if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll face an unavoidable dead (a car will hit you by gas station, Leon chapter 1).
5) Great voice acting, narration feel natural & informative, and how they put the story together. It's the first time they have 4 stories in one game. Great new characters with their own special features (Jake, Cherry, Pier as examples). The bio terrorist outbreak in the biggest scale we've ever seen. Good story development: new virus, new enemy types, Christ meet Leon in game, Leon & Ada relationship development, etc.
These are just a few examples I could think of for now. I'm sure you guys can tell more. And I will never be convinced that most of us hate this game until there is a vote for that matter taken from millions of RE fans worldwide.
@jark888 I never even understood all this QTE hate. Doesn't anyone realize that easy difficulty has no QTEs at all? And easy is actually NOT easy.
@jark888I never really got why everyone complained about the quicktime events. I mean, you're right, they are a good way to put in epic set pieces, and turn what probably otherwise would have been a cutscene, and add some interactivity, adding to the emersion.

I guess Capcom really exacerbated people by having horribly unnecessary death scenes lol, especially that invulnerble hand-throwing guy, and the meat grinder, and plenty of others. People just dont like to die in games if they can help it lol

@ShagsterP @jark888I can respect that. After reading many negative comments about this game, I found that many of us expected horror when they picked up the game. I feel that sometimes you could blame the one who named this game " Resident Evil " instead of keeping the original name " Bioharzard. " I mean Capcom has their freedom right to make game the way they see fit.
It's funny, because of all the lame reviews, this was the first RE title I didn't buy for any other reason than not owning the specified platform. Then about four days ago, i found a copy at a street market (!!!) that I bought for damn nigh a shilling. The last four days of Zombieish thingy slaying with mates have been damn awesome. I actually love this stupid game. I would never say that this game deserves higher than maybe an 7.5/8, but I would definately have paid more for it.
Platinum'd it. Traded it in. Good riddance. This update (and the one before that) was too little too late. There's only one thing I know for sure now: never pre-order a Resident Evil game again.

xbox is a way less popular platform for RE games, capcom is making a huge loss by doing this stupid timed exclusive thing

@Toysoldier34 @natalieyan i have all dlc on my xbox and i having a lot of fun xD .the dlcs will eventually come out for ps3 so no need to worry for any ps3 owners.its a temporary exclusive, so if u like this action style of re I recomend getting them to play with ur friends =)
great fun game! capcom did a great job with this game! i mean seriously? did everyone think that capcom was going to be like...we sure are glad everyone liked the departure from old style to new style in RE4...lets go back to old stuff now..? NO! those tank controls everyone loved while cool at the time were archaic! i mean resident evil came out when the playstaion didn't even have analog sticks so they had to make the best of what they had and do tank controls...and cameras? go back to the old days? please, the reason why they had those stupid camera angles was because they weren't real 3d backgrounds...they were just images....its a great game and they did a great job! i even like the new DmC! *insert ignornant fanboyism especially by trolls who are refreshing this page every hour to bash this game because they are terrible gamers...they can't adapt...*
@esfuerzo31 You miss a lot of the true reasons people don't like RE6. Being able to walk and shoot isn't the worst thing they did.
Good to see that Capcom is listening. I love "Resident Evil 6" and have had a blast playing through it. The "field of view" camera update is a major plus as well as Ada's campaign being unlocked from the beginning; even though I already unlocked it, but now with two player makes it even nicer. Capcom fan for life here!
Maybe they should put out a gameplay update that turns quick-time events into actual, fun gameplay mechanics. Quick-time events are the tool of the incompetent developers who can't create real games, so they just insert timed button-presses into otherwise scripted cutscenes.
The only time a quick-time event is a viable mechanic is when there is a CHOICE that must be made in limited time - hit A to try grabbing the ledge, hit B to try your grappling hook, X to deploy your air-to-ground airbag - choose in less than a second.
These events where you just have to manage to pound A for a little while, or hit X just in time otherwise you see a death and you retry - that's just crap.
I liked Resident Evil 6 a lot.. there were plenty that didn't, I can understand that.. but personally I really enjoyed the game, and I found it to be much better then Resident Evil 5. Which got an 8.5 on here. The game isn't that difficult anyways, and it had a lot more memorable moments then 5. Moving and Aiming was awesome, the dodge mechanics, and getting low on the floor, the pills, the dragging yourself when hurt, the boss battles, the visuals, and the enemies were all more impressive then 5 to me.. and yet this nearly gets half the score. No it wasn't really horror in any way, neither was 5, this was a zombie shooter/action game. The quicktime events weren't too difficult and not very irritating to me.. like @whackyq said, there were times QTE's could have been used where it woulda made more sense.. but even without those it was still really fun and entertaining. It is a shame that it got put down so harshly, especially as harsh as GameSpot Kevin VanOrd chose to. I don't think its the best game around, I don't even think it is the best Resident Evil really.. I just thought it was a significant improvement over Resident Evil 5.
Its good to see there are still people who found some enjoyment out of this game.
There are many spots where I thought they could put QTEs but didn't, and the only place where this game kind of annoyed me was that SPOILERS chase sequence at the end of Chris's campaign...
This game is...not difficult. Its actually ALOT more difficult to play with your friend because you have to share ammo and health and things like that, where as the AI is invulnerable and can heal you (if you get that skill, your AI teammate gives you 2-4 pills everytime you are down, it makes this game way too easy).
They shouldn't add a coop partner for Ada's campaign and unlock it, it makes no sense and spoils the entire story. Still, I'm a bit curious as to who they will introduce as her partner.
More sexy costumes would be nice ;)
@whackyq I played Ada's campaign, her partner is "Agent" a masked trooper.
Some unspecified levels have also had their difficulty tweaked.
I hope that means made the game harder. If they made it even easier it'd make no sense.
The game has no challenge at all right now.
