I actually thought of this game was pretty fun. Only a few things I disliked. Snipers are USELESS, everyone has too much health, and the dlc should've came on the disk instead of making me pay $20 for the rest of my game. But when I got past that I found an entertaining co-op game behind it. I found I liked it more than Modern Warfare titles. These problems could be patched quite easily
Capcom's squad-based shooter spin-off trumps "lagging" Street Fighter X Tekken's 1.4 million copies sold; publisher's full-year sales and profits sink.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City may not have won the praise of reviewers (the game runs a 52 on Metacritic), but that didn't stop Capcom's action shooter from selling 1.7 million units since its release in March. Sales of that caliber make the game Capcom's 25th best-selling title of all time.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City outsold another hotly anticipated Capcom March release, the much-praised fighting game Street Fighter X Tekken. Capcom said that game's sales "lagged," coming in at 1.4 million units as of March 31, 2012.
Following Operation Raccoon City's launch in March, developer Slant Six Games sounded off on the game's low review scores.
"It's challenging," said studio producer Mike Kerr. "A lot of people put a lot of time and effort into the game and obviously we'd like to see the review scores be a little better than they are right now."
The news comes as part of Capcom's financial report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, where the Japanese publisher announced net sales dipped 16 percent from the prior year to ¥82.06 billion yen ($1.02 billion). In terms of profit, operating income also sank, coming in at ¥12.32 billion yen ($154.1 million), with net income for the period dropping 13.2 percent to ¥6.72 billion yen ($84.06 million).
Looking ahead, Capcom said it expects to tally net sales of ¥105 billion yen ($1.31 billion) and record ¥9.8 billion yen ($122.59 million) in net earnings for the year ending March 31, 2013. The company expects to hit this mark through investments in "high growth potential content" and big-budget AAA titles like this October's Resident Evil 6.
This game is not as bad as it's reviews. Yes it could be better but it is what I expected. It is a team based shooter, were most people probably expected another basic Resident Evil game .If you like Resident Evil you will enjoy this game, but I recommend buying it on sale. I paid $40 & it was worth that price. Of corse there are Resident Evil haters out there that are not going to like this game even if it were the best game ever made.
The results infected me for all the wrong reasons. I'm not one to say idiots play certain games, but if I did, this would be one of them.
what? it sold that well? thats it!! ive had it with resident evil. the name resident evil was great because its like their company mascot but ORC is a disgrace to the resident evil series, the game should have been better.
Resident Evil ORC is an amazing game, i never take any notice of the the review scores cuz all the reviewers suck eggs now anyway, excellent job by creators keep up the good work!!! revisiting all the old areas of RE 2 ( One of the all time greats ) was an amazing experience hope theres more to come!!!!!
RE 0, 1, 2, 3, Veronika X, outbreak file 1 and 2 was following the RE "everyman" feeling, ordinary men and/or women facing a danger that is impossible or almost impossible to overcome. That was the RE's best. And the RE 4 formula destroyed the way I've seen RE forever. But at least RE 4, 5 have a better gameplay than ORC.
Modern Assasins Creed Fan Made AC Franchise in India
It just goes to show how a franchise's name can help a game sell. I kind of hate that Resident Evil isn't scary anymore, but more action oriented.
hi , i'm from iran and my english is not very good but i have a comment
i love resident evil 1 , 2 ,3 ,4 ,5 but in the evil ORC , playing like left4dead game, but resident evil is famous for searching the city and find a thing for go to next mission , and for example after completing many mission you came back to first mission for finding a thing , but in this version , game like another game for example call of duty and etc plz for next version made it like evil 1,2,3
but resident evil 3 was wonderful and better than resident evil 4
plz work on it more my friend
holly fucking shit...i just played this game..and i want to say is this is the worst game i ever played in resident evil sequence..and i just uninstalled the fgame ..so sad i vaited aall the moment for this
I love Resident Evil and all but it's disheartening to see that the lesser, much lesser game is selling better.
I found ORC better than the own game it tried to copy, Left 4 Dead, which isn't saying much in my book. It's got potential, but ORC's flaws are way too glaring to simply let go.
The only thing that made it sell so many copies is the name, not the quality of the game.
I thought The Mark and Infernal were bad, this trumps them by far.
WOW so a bad Shooter sells better then a good fighter huh :/ I guess people would rather not learn how to play video games and stick to the simple mechanics.
@megakick I find SF X T to be awful so I am not sure what you mean by good fighter. I know is just my opinion but look at the cons. Gems,DLC Gems, Infinite combo loops(they are patching but some people will find new ones) and serious balance issues with the characters. There are so many fighting games options out there if you are casual fan of the genre why would you buy capcom's games.
nope. played the ORC. it was beyond terrible!! super short and the biggest piece of crap i'm ashamed to have spent money on. and where the hell where those other humans (the rag tag team fighting the umbrella guys) from the CG trailer anyway? False advertising, anyone? Hopefully slant 6 closes down. many awesome developers who actually make good games go under while these bastards release a 4-hour long piece of crap and are still in the business? Not cool.

cough cashcom cough crappy DLC cough messed up cough bryan fury cough no dragonuv cough no bruce irvin caugh
"Scores may have been low for Operation Raccoon City, but sales were high." And in the end that's all that counts.
If they do a good RE everyone will buy it.. If they do this crap only stupid ppl will buy it..They r loosing money and quality...
well this always bin proven that most people don't really care about reviews and all that, if they like the game no matter what they will buy it.
Nope, the gameplay was good, but the story was cliché and how the hell the government decide that this, THIS simple cops WILL be their top agent. The REs best was when you were an everyman. I said what I had to say and I don't want to argue more since it's a loss of time and I know that it 4th will still be the best in your mind, but I had to say: "nope".
@fourthson i agree i am just waiting to see if part six go,s down that same road, because part 5 tried to go down that road but it didn't work out that well.
No one is to blame except the consumer for continuing to buy games just for the name instead of doing a little research and finding out if what they are buying is actually worth the price.
As long as the consumer continues to buy garbage games just because it has a known name on the cover the developers will continue to make them.
and capcom still wants to go on with their mockery called DmC??? half time dev company = half time game or even less think about thrice before releasing that mediocrity really.
This just goes to show that people play bad games. There is nothing unique about this games or special about this game. The masses will doom us all to mediocrity with their horrible taste in everything. One day people will look back at games like this and movies like Transformers and realize how good we had it during the golden age and that these pieces of sh*t ruined the industry. STOP BUYING CRAP AND COMPANIES WILL STOP MAKING IT. BE PROACTIVE. RESEARCH FIRST. ASK QUESTIONS. DON'T BE A SHEEP!
Your comment is fair about the people who bought the game and regretted that decision, but you can't say that the people who legitimately enjoyed the game are ruining the industry. Put simply, they liked a game that you didn't. That doesn't make them wrong, and it doesn't make them sheep. Just different from you.
I really enjoyed ORC, I guess people exaggerate the game qualities since many gamers are obsessed with CoD this decade. The devs made something totally new so why not give tolerance to these guys?
ORC was terrible. The SP was complete crap and I was really hoping the MP would at least save my purchase. It did for about 3 days before it went back to the store. It's a pretty bare bones game if you ask me. I also think it was a really lame move to charge for the Nemesis game mode, which I'm sure they knew it would be the most played out of all the game modes.
Operation Raccoon City is sooo bad that it's making me second guess my Resident Evil 6 purchase. Shame on you Capcom for putting out that turd.
i guess any old tat will sell if you slap capcom+resi on it.......... its a shame how the series has lost its roots.
This is depressing, games like this sell like crazy only due to name recognition while amazing games like Vanquish wither in the vine because it is a new IP.
This is only going to further encourage developers to keep making sequels and spin offs of the same franchises with the minimum amount of effort put into them and make a quick profit out of undiscriminating buyers that will purchase whatever poorly crafted product as long as it has the right name slapped onto it.
@SciFiCat I agree, I was thinking the same thing. Some great titles hardly sell any copies whist other mediocre games sell shockingly well. I watched the quick look for this title & It looks uninspiring.
@SciFiCat : only the ORC reviews are depressing , the game itself is actually fun and very good to be played with friends , i had more fun with ORC than any recent COD game , believe me the reviews are blown outta proportion , look at umrella chronicles , same environment , a onrails shooter got a 7 here on GS , while ORC a much better game scored lower ...good to see that it has high sales despite the iniciative or reviewers to put it down ,
