New shot of DualShock-shaped controller shows what appears to be headphone jack.
A second PlayStation 4 controller image has emerged. Digital Foundry today posted a new shot of the DualShock-shaped pad, notably showing what appears to be a headphone jack.
This was not clearly visible in the first image that appeared yesterday. Both shots are believed to be prototypes, meaning the final design may look different.
The controller is cool but if they made it more like xbox it will be easy handling and i hope it dose not spill water like the ps3
DUMB... I hope you can just buy a PS3 controller for the other controller ports or when the PS4 controller breaks. I would hate to have to buy a $100+ PS4 controller.
Looks a little bulky; the D-pad looks good but those analog sticks look dumb and just not as good as the Sony standard.
why is everybody speculating so hard on these prototype controllers? lets see what sony has to say and show tomorrow. compareing wii u touch controller to these designs doesnt have any application at this time either since we dont know what it does. till then, try not to get your under garments into a twist.
@Metronoid Have fun staring at a useless Wii Pad after all the developers drop Wii U support and you have 0 games worth playing.
What I don't understand is why they think this is a ps4 controller... Microsoft just made a whole new kind of controllers for the xbox introducing analog dpad. Maybe sony is introducing their new kind of controller with a few more things. I honestly don't see a ps4 coming at all...
@JikanEXE cool didn't know that, now lets hope that the quality on those analogs are better because the ones on the current 360 controllers have a short life ...on my hands at least hehe, btw as far as know they don't even sell the parts (which they could.. but maybe don't bother because maybe then they wouldn't be able sell as many new controllers) alternative to buying a new controller is going with the cheaper made in china parts which are even less durable.
I know it looks similar, but ergonomically it looks better than the other PlayStation controllers. Not sure about the touchpad though, I can't imagine any use for it. Maybe to simulate mouse movement using your finger?
@anuragdas68 Nope, looks great. The touch pad I don't see a use for, but I'm ready to be proven wrong.
@Metronoid First of all, never use two comparatives together on an adjective. Second of all, seen as this is not a screen, it's an apples and oranges situation. Third of all, nobody gives a motherfuck about your Wii U.
That screen is so small, I hardly see it being useful for anything. Then again I've always hated the dualshock so I could be slightly biased...
As consoles act more like pc's, the more I just wanna play my pc games and not touch a console, I mean seriously the specs on the 720 are barely a 10% bump from my current computer and I'm no where near top of the line.
i posted a long winded blog that nobody read...i guess i suck at blogging. But I think Apple is going to dive into the fragmented gaming industry with some sick hardware. IGaming platform based on Mac OSX and Intel Processing. Can you imagine a world without Activision or EA? how amazing would it be to stream all our games from iTunes to an Apple TV with built in gaming hardware.
Holy Chit i get all tickled just thinking about how amazing this would be! does anyone agree? or am I just going to get flamed to death on this
@philMcCrevis Apple is horrible with gaming. They operate on a closed-market system, meaning that they want you to only use Apple products, prevent you from doing any work yourself, and limit customization as much as possible.
Gamers build their own systems, upgrade frequently, use a variety of powerful gaming components from companies like ATI, Nvidia, Razer, etc. and pride themselves on knowing their technology better than anybody else. Apple doesn't like that, which is why most games and gamers go with open-market platforms.
Apple wouldn't last a day in the gaming world. If you know your processors and your graphics cards, you'll know that you get twice the punch in a PC than in a Mac for the buck. And if you have any idea how to use your PC, you don't run into the problems that almost all Mac users claim that you have. I custom built mine years ago and have yet to witness a crash, a virus, or anything of the sort. Plus, I have 16gigs of RAM and a Radeon Switchable Graphics card that can play any Crysis on Ultra. If Apple could match that for less than a grand then I stand corrected...but the fact is this: They can't.
here me out on this one!!!
I want a game controller for the PS4 that attaches to your testicles and whenever you are interacting sexually with a game character it....well you get it. and if your avatar gets booted in the nuts, you know...yah. that would be a game changer brah
Remember the PS3 controller prototypes that look like boomerangs with saggy breasts? yeah the PS4 controller is going to look exactly like every other Playstation controller, even if they augment its capabilities.
I agree with those that say the controllers in the pics are prototypes. I can't imagine Sony having those released as the standard controllers.
@Jake518 yh? why is that?
@Jake518 why whats wrong with it. looks cool to me
do you remember playstation move? practically an offbrand wii. now they are adding touchscreens? interesting trends. Sony isnt nintendo, but they sure are trying.
I always fancy the classic dual shock controller. I trust they are not going to change it, but I noticed they're considering giving it's texture a bit of roughness. I think that is a good idea to rid of the slippy controller once it gets too sweaty.
The controller is familiar yet they added some improvements. People should be glad it isn't that banana shaped controller.
I like this controller...I have an easier time with bulky controllers, I think the sticks look comfortable, and I think its very sleek...i'll be happy if this turns out to be the design.
I hope they keep bluetooth functionality. One of the reasons I like my PS3 better than my 360 is the fact that Sony's mic is bluetooth whereas the 360 headset is plugged into the controller. And yes I know that 360 can do bluetooth as well, I am talking about default mics as it were.
I'm pretty sure they include the touchscreen on the controller so that vita would be compatible to ps4 as a controller. Atm no changes that'll make the vita incompatible
