United Front's cop action game dated for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in North America; retailer-exclusive DLC preorder bonuses revealed.
Sleeping Dogs will be rustled from their slumber on August 14 in North America, publisher Square Enix announced today. The United Front Games-developed "cop drama" will ship in European regions on August 17.
Square Enix also revealed North American preorder bonuses for Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon shoppers. Each chain is offering up its own exclusive in-game content for the retail versions of the game. (Downloadable PC bonus content will be announced at a later date.)
Best Buy customers will get access to a pack highlighting mixed martial artist Georges St. Pierre, who consulted with United Front Games on multiple aspects of Sleeping Dogs' development. Meanwhile, GameStop and Amazon customers will receive police- and martial-arts-themed content packs, the full details of which are listed below.
Square Enix did not say if it will make each retailer's content available to all at a later date, and as of press time, the publisher had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
Sleeping Dogs--a revival of the canceled True Crime: Hong Kong--is an open-world action game set in Hong Kong. The game puts players in the boots of Wai Shen, an undercover police officer fighting through the seedy criminal underworld of the sprawling city.
According to Square Enix, Sleeping Dogs will give players a variety of combat options. These include gunplay--which takes place in streets, harbors, and skyscrapers--as well as a hand-to-hand combat system that lets players use martial arts to bring down their enemies.
