Sleeping Dogs: Year of the Snake information slithers online

New footage for unconfirmed Sleeping Dogs DLC shows Chinese New Year theme.
Open-world brawler Sleeping Dogs looks set to receive a DLC pack based around the Chinese New Year, which takes place on February 10.
Neither publisher Square Enix or developer United Front Games has officially confirmed the existence of the Year of the Snake DLC, although a brief teaser trailer and a leaked PlayStation 3 Trophy list have both surfaced online.
The four Trophies (detailed on Exophase) suggest that the pack will include defusing bombs and dealing with cultists, along with gobbling up a fleet of collectibles and other secondary mission objectives.
Square Enix has released a good chunk of Sleeping Dogs DLC since its release in August 2012, including undead-themed expansion Nightmare in North Point. Sony also announced this week that the game would also be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for February.
Sleeping Dogs was awarded a respectable 8.0 in its GameSpot review last year, with Carolyn calling the game "a fun-filled Hong Kong getaway that will leave you with many happy memories."

dammit, just when i 100% the entire game achievement including nightmare at northpoint dlc they drop another dlc. i guess i will have to wait for another round of sleeping dog dlc discount on xbox live to 100 % this game again.
chinese new year is next weekend, i suppose this would be a fitting dlc. hopefully its free. *rolls eyes*.
1 Like In a lot of ways I thought Sleeping Dogs was actually better than GTA4. Obviously the hand-to-hand combat would be one of them. For some odd reason I find a lot of the characters to be memorable and likeable as well, whereas GTA4 I thought a lot of characters were just forgettable.
Unfortunately, for me at least, it's a relatively short game given the similarities between GTA and Saints Row, and a lot of the side stuff is really bare bones and could've used a lot more expansion. I'm not in favor of all of these goofy DLC packs they're releasing. Expand on the story or the side missions or something.
I really hope this becomes a franchise, they got a lot of things right with this one.
@jinzo9988 It's funny you say that because I felt the opposite - more memorable characters in GTA4 than Sleeping Dogs. I guess the games just resonate differently with different players. Both good games anyway.
They should add more side mission, so the universe could be expanded. the main story was good actually, just give people more perspective, enough to stimulate more purchase decision, like played as killed detective before Wei-Shen, or how Wei-San commiting to wipe rising triads, how we see the rise of master kungfu which more expert than Wie shean. etc, small but focused.
seriously, you can't convince people with half-assed Zombie DLC,
I'm huge fans of SD, but I don't bother getting those DLC

1 Like I liked this game, didn't get the zombie one because it didn't fit into the franchise, but would like to play this one.
@Tzardok It didn't have zombies. It had Jiang Shi - "hopping vampires" - and some Chinese demons. It might not have fit the franchise, but it certainly fit the setting. Too bad it was rather poorly implemented, as a separate game. That didn't stop it from being fun though.
Dammit, when is the complete edition going to come out? I really want to play this game but want to wait until I can play everything in one go.

7 Like Honestly one of the best games, if not the best game, of 2012. And this is coming from someone that doesn't even like this genre. It's that good.
1 Like @PSYCHOV3N0M @nathangray Farcry 3 was a good game but game of the year? No. Yet another game over-hyped by its peers and held up on the backs of gamers far too willing to fall in line. A great experience that's otherwise forgotten and easily replaced by whatever shiny thing comes next. Sleeping Dogs on the other hand, will stay with me for a long time.
@nathangray Sleeping Dogs = An Asian Grand Theft Auto with fighting mechanics ripped-off from Batman Arkham City. Yes the game is FUN enough to play but best game of 2012?? Nope. GTA V will trump it in 2013 I have no doubt.
I cant believe how much DLC this game got but its worth it because its one of the most fun open world games out there
