With PS vita's new price, I don't think it's too expensive.
I just haven't bought one because of the memory card prices. They are extremely expensive.

UK boss Fergal Gara confirms price reduction for company's newest portable coming next year, timing "still under discussion."
Sony will cut the price of its PlayStation Vita sometime in 2013, the publisher's UK boss Fergal Gara has told Eurogamer. The executive said the exact timing of the price reduction is "still under discussion."
"We always aim to establish price cuts. So the question is not so much if, but when," Gara said. Though there will not be a PS Vita price cut in 2012, he said Sony will work with its retail partners to "add value" to the portable by way of system-software bundles.
In August, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said 2012 was "too early" for a PS Vita price cut, confirming that no reduction was planned for the year. The PS Vita launched in February 2012 with a Wi-Fi-only version at $249 and a Wi-Fi/3G model retailing for $299. Sales of the portable are nearly in line with company expectations, according to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai.

2 Like A price cut in 2013 would work for me. Hopefully they will cut the price of their memory cards as well.
I think the sales have increased, I would like to see real numbers about the amount of Vitas sold worldwide, it is more than 2 millions .....probably more than 3 million....The device has a lot of potential it just needs "Momentun" more apps and platform games that maybe can be sold exclusively for the vita and later for Ps3, not the opposite....I would like to play castlevania, Cash bandicoot, ape scape,Spyro....and maybe then can try with some 3d titles that are not in the market such as Soul Reaver....
Epic, Can't wait till this goes down. New Games, price cuts, and for those on a budget this really is just simply amazing. PSP classics, and the Entire PS1 classics is just reason enough to buy the vita, in addition to the new games that are coming out.
3 Like How about bringing some of those Japan exclusive games overseas? Those killer apps could boost sales. Instead we're given a stack of FPS and Fighters to tide us over.

1 Like Smooth move, Sony. You're right, it's best to wait since the sales have been off the charts since the Vita released and you're obviously in a comfortable position fiscally speaking where you can easily absorb any substantial losses for this quarter. Best to wait ;)

Honestly the only thing I regret about my Vita purchase is not getting the 3G version!

4 Like Well, I got my Vita free with a mobile phone deal, so glad I didn't shell out full retail for one to find this out....
I am absolutely loving my Vita lately actually - I have my other consoles plugged into the TV and both my 1 year old and wife take charge of it most of the time, so having a handheld as nice as the Vita has been great recently. I just want them to get more cross-platform games going so I can play PS3 games on the Vita screen... that will make me very happy indeed.
Two major mistake of PSvita in my opinion:
1) Sony doesn't take much of consumer ideas into developing of their products. This also is why Sony has not been very popular lately. Of course, Playstation family is the exception.
2) PS vita still cannot convince gamers that it is essential to them.
@jark888 I somehow agree with number 1. And as for number 2, the game released for the console determines whether that console is essential to gamers. The vita is getting better games in this coming months and hopefully it continued to so it can be the "next PSP".
1 Like I could easily get a VITA now but there's no games that I'm interested in at the moment. The only games that have caught my interest are Phantasy Star Online 2 and Soul Sacrifice which come out next year, so I don't mind the wait.
I do agree about the memory cards, they're still expensive. Here in the UK the 32GB is £80.

The price will go down faster than you guys think. I see New-other condition of PSvita 3G version sell with Mortal Kombat game for $220 (shipping included) on Ebay, But guess what, it ended with ZERO bidding!!
1 Like Port a game like Dark Souls or borderlands 2 with ps3 cross play compatibility and cloud saves and this system will start selling. If they announce Diablo 3 PS3 and Vita game together for 80 bucks and cross play it would be selling like crazy.
Sony always has a problem with never doing the cool things people would like.

LBP is out! It's got unlimited replay value with community levels!

4 Like The system is priced just fine for me considering the tech and design. However, they should really consider dropping the prices of the games to no more than 30$ and significantly drop the memory card prices, which I believe stands out as a sore thumb to otherwise a very capable system.

i still won't buy the vita mainly cause the games are too pricy and sometimes not enough content.
2 Like @average_gamer32 What? Rayman's down to $20 in most retailers, so it's not overpriced anymore, and almost all games launch at $40. Uncharted is the only game so far to cost $50.
What do you mean, not enough content? That certainly isn't the case for LBP! If you're referring to MGS: HD Collection, then you'd be right about Peace Walker, but I can't think of any others.
I own a Vita and I'm very happy with it.
I just hope b4 Sony fcks up they release a Gravity Rush 2, then I will be fine with the system being a failure purely by Sony doing SEGA moves.
@Metallicwolf29 i bought a ps3 3,5 years ago, i really wanted a ff7 remake for ps3. i was all excited when they released that ff7 "trailer". i am still waiting and i feel bamboozled.
Instead square-enix gives us a weak ff13

4 Like People who think that this will hurt holiday sales a lot are delusional. People who buy something like this on a holiday sale don't read Gamespot or any outlet that will have that statement posted. Besides a lot of marts will offer special holyday prices regardless of what the full retail price is.

@Metallicwolf29 @Morphine_OD Here on our country, some gadgets store cuts price on their electronic goods during holiday. And knowing Sony, they will come up with something for this holiday (although I think it will be for the PSN considering they're supporting digital trades lately)
2 Like @Justinps2hero think of it this way, Christmas might sell the handheld anyway. The price cut will increase sales in the months after where sales would typically be down. I'm pretty sure a multimillionaire corporation knows its stuff.

1 Like If the Wi-Fi/3G model drops to $199 or less, I'd consider picking one up. My iPhone 4S plays a lot of stuff (minus the analog sticks of course) and there's also a ton of free games to try out on the app store. Sony really needs to step it up in terms of Vita support. I haven't seen anything that makes me WANT a Vita yet.
@SnakeEyesX80 There will be a free to play game in early next year for Vita (Picotto Knights) and as I've read, they are planning to add more f2p games in the future.
This holiday there will be notable games such as ACIII, BlOps2, KZ, PASBR etc.
4 Like Owned a Vita day one and sold it before it was to late to get rid of it... Ive never done that with a system before. I did not have the confidence that it would be a success in the end...lack of games and memory card prices are its main problem Sony wake up ...
@davsonamission Of course day one there won't be many good games. But this coming months, there will be. You should hold on to it IMO. But it's yours and yours decision. :)

its not an iphone or any mobile device of such but having basic flash player or internet freedom is a must u can't even watch gamespot video's??? ok we now have utube but i now own an iphone too now and i haven't touched my vita since. Its a quality device that sadly has no developer backing so no decent software of any kind. The future doesn't look great either, my trust is failing slowly in Sony. I love my ps3 but maybe get a pc instead of ps4. I spent 300 quid on my vita wi fi model, should have bought an i pad.
