dont only make it spaceships, i want that sense of adventure when exploring new planets by running around in them

First in-game footage from Chris Roberts' new high-end PC space sim revealed; game is at least two years away.
The first in-game footage for Chris Roberts' new space simulator Star Citizen has been revealed. A video posted to the game's already successful Kickstarter page shows off preliminary artificial intelligence for the high-end PC game.
Roberts cautioned that the video is rough. He said it is not representative of "anything that would be called final," adding that the final product remains two years away.
"The laser effects, explosions are all placeholders and there will be significant work done here, as well as some very cool shield effects I have cooking up in the background," Roberts said. "My goal with the visual effects is to use a lot the techniques and looks used in film work, which are now possible with DX11 and modern day PCs."
According to Roberts, the Star Citizen pilot AI will be the most sophisticated that he has ever attempted and will leverage the power of contemporary CPUs. In terms of specifics, the video footage was captured with FRAPS through a PC with an AMD Phenom 1090T processor, 8GB of RAM, and a NVIDIA GTX470.

1 Like Underwhelming.The video does not show anything of interest and crowdfunding isn't a viable replacement to traditional funding. Even with immense support, it does not contribute anything near what is typically needed for a ground-breaking game.

@itchyflop The video was showing AI that followed flight formation. Woopty doo, the AI is sooooo complex. @okassar @itchyflop It's called prototype ladies . They had only 8 members in the team who made this . They are still hiring . Most games have boxes and cylinders as prototype .

I sure would like to know what kind of specs he expects I will need to run this game when it is finally done two years from now
@leikeylosh its obvious the level of time and effort put into this, aswell as the detail,true the developer seems to know what he's doing, without tarnishing it too much do you think it needs to steer away from the wing commander feel or is that the point of this game, a battle star galactica style proposal ??

That settles it. I'm going to spring for another 8800gtx and a crossfire adapter when this comes out!

also it will have some degree of FPS as you will be able to board enemy ships/stations and try to take them.
Don't bother with him, that kind of people are called "idiots", they can't be reasoned with, best thing to do is just ignore them.
6 Like @jack00 As the guy said, it's a prototype demo showing an example of one of the ai mechanics planned for the game. As for if there's more, try Freelancer or Wing Commander Privateer and you'll have an idea of what kind of game Star Citizen is supposed to be.

9 Like @Ladiesman17 Normally I might agree, if he was doing this via the normal publisher route. But that's not the case here.
This is a crowd funded game. And because of that, Chris Roberts has said from the very beginning that he wants to make the community and pledgers a part of the development process every step of the way. Expect a lot more like this and better. Also expect him to be actively polling the community to see what gamers want to see in the game. Which he has already been doing actively.
1 Like I see a lot of mention of the video card in these comments. Please re-read the article and take note of the part where it says they are at least 2 years away from the game release. Think about that, the GTX470 will be very obsolete by then which is why bringing up video card concerns has absolutely no bearing right now.
1 Like @Landsharkk That's not necessarily true. A game that is being developed now will most likely accommodate a lot of recent technologies as of this/last year. Sure it probably won't work on something from 2005 but these recent years? Also, it's not in their best interest to limit their supporters to only the high-end computer owners due to the fact that this is a public-funded game.
Well, it says right on the FAQ that it will probably require AT LEAST an Nvidia 460. That's minimum 'turn off all the shiney' requirements. It only requires a dual core, too. http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen-faq/
