I am really looking forward for this...I am pleasantly surprised! Even more when the official title and premise will be revealed. I feel that either Solid Snake or one of his clone will appear again in a new Metal Gear Solid game.

Mysterious new game with supposed ties to Metal Gear Solid detailed in first wave of official screenshots.
The Phantom Pain was revealed during the 2012 Video Game Awards, with many suggesting it is in fact not a new game at all, but rather an elaborate tease for a Metal Gear Solid project. The game's first trailer depicted a character bearing a resemblance to Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, and now developer Moby Dick Studio has released official screens of the game.
The new screenshots are pulled from the trailer and show a one-armed character waking from a coma with no recollection of who he is or what has happened to him.
The Phantom Pain's developer, Moby Dick Studio, is also enshrouded in mystery. The Stockholm, Sweden-based developer's website lists Joakim Mogren as its CEO. This person, however, is not a known figure. And in fact, Joakim is an anagram for Kojima.

Whether or not that (conspiracy) theory is correct, it's a really fun one and as such, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. To think that a Japanese person would choose a Swedish name as a smoke screen for what he is really up to, is quite "seen to many movies"-hilarious. As a Swedish person I'm enjoying this theory a lot.
The Phantom Pain is most likely a dream sequence in MGS Ground Zero where Big Boss goes into MGS3 mode circa 1964-1970, halucinating after some injury, BB has always subconciously held the boss's death as a life changer
I sure hope this goes into bold new metaphysical territory, I'm just about starved to death for something like that...seriously, Mask of the Betrayer was, what, four, five years ago?

Guys, Kojima likes to mess with us all the time, give us a lot of "hints" so we believe it is something. You know what happens? It isn't what we thought it was. It's still going to be awesome though, I can assure you.

@Meteora1991 The guy with the Bandages isn't the burned guy you can see his face under the bandages and he is NOT burned (or at least not as bad as the Ground Zeroes guy).

@fend_oblivion I'm more inclined for it to be reference of the syndrome, remember at the end of the day you never know who is the bad guy in MGS series, ocelot nd Big Boss where always thought to be badies before MGS3.

This isn't by chance either, I'm loving the way the series is heading and the way Kojima plays with his audience, leaving little hints all over the place.

@Arkhalipso That suit also reminds m of the one from GZ the one Big Boss is wearing, and because this apparently mixes some hallucinations (burning whale) it could be it.
4 Like after watching the trailer and doing some thinking... yup kojima is messing with us. the fact that mgs ground zeroes mentions "the two ghosts" (big boss and "scarface") and in this trailer there are 2 guys, one with bandages all over his face and the other who clearly looks like snake with one arm... if i recall in one of the first mgs's for msx there's a codec chatter that mentions big boss loosing his arm in the war... also in the trailer you see a soldier with "fire power" (the fury??) and someone similar to pshyco mantis... yeah this has metal gear written all over it if not, well, it looks like a damn good game to me !
I was really hoping that this was a new IP, but that feeling seems to be dwindling every day. Nothing wrong with a new MGS, but I just haven't had the desire to play any of the games in the series since Snake Eater.
2 Like There are constant MG references on their twitter and facebook pages. I think they're legit too because they were posting on it before the release of the trailer. JOAKIM is calling the main character Bolid Bake. I mean come on.

2 Like Wow. This was an amazingly disturbing trailer. So intense! It looks like Kojima-quality. It seems to share the same art style and animation of the "Metal Gear" games. And the main character certainly resembles Snake from what we can see. But what could it be? A brand new Snake? I mean, the only Snake to loose an arm was Liquid and that was after he was dead. Apart of the "Metal Gear" saga or not, I will definitely keep a look out for this. And one thing that definitely makes me think that this is connected to "Metal Gear" in some way is from a post that I saw on another forum. They brought up the line from the "Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes" trailer: "From 'FOX', two phantoms were born."
@CLOCKWORKIAN No one knows much about Big Boss he could have lost his arm. If you look at images of in Ground Zeroes he is wearing full fingered gloves and at the end on MGS4 he is wearing gloves as well. I believe this takes place before or is Ground Zeroes because the man with bandages around his face maybe the scared man for the Ground Zeroes trailer.
1 Like @BigBossWato True. Since Ocelot had an artificial arm in "MGS4" it appears that anyone could do the same. Though I would be shocked if it turns out that Big Boss had an artificial/robot arm in the 80s. But I'm not going to discuss the probability of fictional technology. However, it is assumed that Big Boss had all his limbs throughout the series at least up to "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake". When you fight Big Boss in that game and call George Kessler up, he informs you that there was a rumor that Big Boss possibly lost limbs after his fight with Solid Snake in the original "Metal Gear", and that Pettrovich Madnar had to give him mechanical replacements. But I think that is meant more as a joke/reference to Kojima's other game "Snatcher" which involves fighting cybernetic, Terminator-like enemies. Also, Big Boss says that his body was reconstructed from pieces of Liquid and Solidus' corpses in "MGS4", so it would seem that no matter the case, he would not have cybernetic limbs at that time. But the main piece is the illustrated picture of Big Boss after he is burned to near death by Snake. This picture was actually used in "MGS4". They could just write it off as being Big Boss, and I like the idea that the bandaged guy could be the burned guy in the "Ground Zeroes" trailer. But if that is Big Boss, and he did loose his arm, it will be because they retconned it. So, personally, I don't think that's the case. But you never know. Either way, I'm excited to hear more news from both games!

wow, that looks fantastic. it feels like it really must be related to Ground Zeroes, or the MGS universe. the lighting and visuals look so similar, and that is undoubtedly Naked Snake. it looks so much like what the previous Ground Zeroes trailer showed us of the character. i think it would be a pretty interesting part of Big Boss's history as well, as the time period seems to fit what has looked like the early to mid eighties so far.
@zackcurl my only problem is why would they bandage up his eye if he lost it during MGS3.

1 Like If this is somehow related to MGS and this guy is actually Snake then that would be an atrocity. First they instantly aged him making him a 60 year old grampa and now they are cutting his limbs and an eye.At this rate u wud find him begging on the streets instead.
1 Like @foxrock66 Even though it's certainly a Metal Gear game, it would be one of the greatest cons if it was nothing to do with the franchise. It would outdo his MGS2 Raiden switch.
