Traveller's Tales reprise 'robots in disguise'

Hmm, did he ment a Filmation's Ghostbusters? I liked that cartoon. Transformers The Game must be bought, no matter the cost!

Looks like a good idea but usually games based on movies, don't do exceedingly well. Spiderman, Star Wars and LOTR are probably exceptions, but if you look at most of the games based on movies released recently, they're crap! But I'm not one to prejudge, we'll see when it comes out. Traveller's Tales has a good rep, with Lego Star Wars and all, maybe they can make something of it.

@megavideogamer & Captain Smirk I'm agreeing with Captain Smirk.....just cuz a game is a movie tie-in it isn't doomed to failure. Might I bring up the Spider-Man games. maybe not the absolute greatest games ever but still very solid fun games. But I do worry about this game a little not cuz its a movie tie-in but cuz its a mech game in general. unfortunately is been a LONG time since i've played a fairly good mech game. Mechwarriors was awful and every gundam game EVER blew. so maybe they'll get this one right. I sure hope so cuz i want to blow some stuff up with Optimus Prime. OH YEAH AND I THIRD LOWENERGYCYCLE

The first transformer movie was surprisingly good. While the next looks questionable, Traveller's Tales has shown that it can make fun games. While the spirit of Lego Star Wars is not the same as the movies, it's wonderful on its own...maybe more fun than the movies. So even if the transformer movie is horrible, this game could still be good. I just hope Megatron whines, I always liked that.

The last game was okay. Hopefully, this one will improve the gameplay enough to make it a good game. Movie-tie in... nevermind.

Heh. So what system is it coming to? Regardless of any potential the game may have, it'll probably be mediocre at best and sold with hype alone. Not much of a future, I think.

The Transformers Armada game was really good fun - one of the few games that made me wish I had a PS2. And after Lego Star Wars, I really trust Travellers Tales with the licence. But - and it's a big but - everything I've seen thus far about the new movie fills me with dread. I think it's going to be an unmitigated disaster. So despite the game probably being a good deal of fun, it'll feature the stupid, ugly, bastardised robots from the movie, and will therefore suck. He sobbed.

this truly reflects the way this gaming industry is at. publishers are now heavily reliant on either old franchises or sequels to many games over and over again. risks are now rarely taken and publishers continue to cash in because they know it works old school fan or not, this is the way this industry has become

So many emotions when I read this. First, elation, because it's going to be on a platform other then a Sony system. But then fear. It's based on a movie, that's never been a good thing. And what's worse, it's going to be based on a Michael Bay movie. Don't get me wrong, Bay can make things blow up like no other, but when have any of his movies had a good plot? So this leads me to believe that he is most certainly going to butcher a beloved childhood franchise. And when you make a video game adaption of a bad movie, you get an uber-bad game. That's just my opinion. But of course I will still be there opening day with my bucket of popcorn so when it's over I'll have something to vomit in.

I'm so excited about a Transformers game that I'll most certainly buy this if it doesn't stink. It doesn't have to be great...just passable. Of course, I'm wildly nostalgic sometimes. PS -- Why can't the GameCube and XBOX get this game too? I mean, if your code is that portable, why not go all the way with it?

I would have written this off immediately as a movie-based flop but for the Traveller's Tales attachment. I had so much fun with both LEGO Star Wars games that I'd rent this one based on the developer alone. Though I was a big Transformers fan as a kid.

I have a PS3 and im definetely gettin this game.

Alpha2- First off, not everyone here has a PS3. although it WOULD be nice to have a game worth buying to date for it other than R:FoM. secondly, ghostbusters, if it IS released, will most likely be multiplatform released anyways, unless MS deems it to be good enough to try to buy as a xbox exclusive. thirdly, just about ANY movie based off a tv/book property has yet to live up to the standards of a given fanbase. personally, I am looking forward to this movie, hopefully Bay&Co will do it justice, but I'm not holding my breath. I do agree with you that all this "current/future gen" crap based off of originals is not worth watching (why can't they just replay all the original shows from the 80's??) and finally, I have yet to see a videogame based off a movie (ie- the "official game of the official movie") worth playing, although "Cars" received decent reviews, but I'm more of a BurnOut/NFS:MostWanted type racer. I was really really hoping back when the PS2 and original XBOX came out that the "Robotech" videogame would be worth getting, yet so far nobody's done anything worthy on that front either.

Travellers Tale? It doesn't seem like they've ever made a really awesome game, except Lego Star Wars. That was fun, but this is not simple legos. It's supposed to be in outstanding graphics, I'm not so sure it will be good.

Lets set a few things straight 1. If it's not coing out for PS3 I could care less about the Ghostbusters game, I'm sure I'm not the only one. 2. Battlestar Galactica was more a late 70's thing because no one acknologes BSG'84 and plus the new show sucks balls as it's incredibly poorly written with hacknied plots that you can calla week in advance. 3. The new Transformers movie was originally defined as being G1, But it's NOT a pale imitation loosely based on the original show's story and dispite getting Peter Cullen back as optimus and will have to do a LOT more than that to win over the true G1 fans. There's no 4 million year nap under a vulcano in a crashed space craft, Prime has flames painted on his armor and Megatron looks like a gaint metalic mummy and has no fusion cannon. Bay's ego has so ridiculously permiated the production that it's almost about as much like the Transformers we all know and love as the american Godzilla movie compared to the Toho originals... yeah exactly. Be very cautious about your enthusiasm on this one. Spielberg's name is carrying very little weight from the things I've seen so far. Travelers tale's is a good developer but It's questionable how much they can rescue this franchaise poisoned by the likes of TF: Energon and TF: Armada. Don't hold it against them if they produce a turd from this licence. The LEGO game series has be consistantly fun and worth playing.

It's going to be hard to top the ORIGINAL Transformers: The Movie. You know the one where Optimus "dies". They should base it off that Transformers universe because all the generations that followed were crap. i'm still hoping though.

This should be based on the classic generation 1 tv series. It's gonna be hard to get excite about a game for the movie when fans have never been treated to a generation 1 game.

I just hope that you can play as Autobots Vs. Decepticons ONLINE :D

Hmm, i think i'd rather it be based on the original series, because i dunno if the movie is gonna be any good.I'm hoping so, very, very, very much.

More childhood games getting a remake. hope this is gonna be better than the trash we been hit with for remakes (movie and game wise)

LEGO Star Wars is a really well-made game. I hope this one follows suit.

Hey, there should be some good explosions in both game and movie. What are the ongoing trends of Travelers Tales? (Legos, Crash Bandicoot, Narnia, Nemo... of frak! They're working the young demographic a bit much. World Rally championship, monkey ball...) I played a demo of Lego SW, and shut it off quickly. I've not played a whole game by this TTgames. This could be a breakthrough opportunity for them... I'm not holding my breath. The 2004, Atari, Transformers had a few good moments: Tidal Wave boss battle. Starscream boss battle. (foreshadowed...of the Colosus - emphasized scale variation?) The inclusion of the minicons was... a loss. Well, they turned around the Batman series around from the horrific TV show, several bad movies, and started a new.... less unrealistic version.

Transformers Is a mix bag if its not based on the show the fan base could well dismiss the game as another peice of tie in crap. The game must include what made the show great reguardless of how things are done in the movie. The game should have an RPG feel like Marvel U.A.

Unless they release some neat motion stuff for the Wii version, I'll be sticking with the 360 for my transformers.

Summer 2007 is right around the corner and we are just now hearing news about the game? If it's been in development, surely we would have heard more than this by now. The last Transformers video game on the PS2 was a fun little title tp lay, althought it was rather limited in the number of robots you could play. I believe it limited you two 3 characters, all of which were Autobots. Somehow I get the feeling either the release data is off or we don't have the full story yet and the game title has been in the works for sometime...

The movie is going to be HOT! I just don't know about the game.

The thought of a video game based off of the Transformers really sounds awesome, assuming they can pull it off. I hope they do, I love the Transformers...

Zoryuken, you've got it. While I admit, being a huge Transformers fan, I will go and see the movie even if I anticipate disappointment, the game will simply further cash in on it. I don't know why they had to go so far from the original designs for the characters, especially when they did not improve on them whatsoever...
