UK game charts: August 13-19

PS2 rules in the UK, so does PSP. I never ever see anyone with a DS, only one of my friends has 360 but also PS2. I see 1 or 2 people every day on the train or bus with a PSP. The reason being games and gadgets more suited for young/mature adults in the UK who appearantly have more discretionary income than those in US or Japan. GTA for PSP is a top seller, I see ads everywhere. PS2 and PSP are always at the front of game stores, then DS and 360 all the way back. I have a good feeling PS3 will get the same reception when it's released.

"Does Msoft get love anywhere besides the USA" No and I can explain why. It's becuase with xbox and 360 you pay for every single little detail in your games. From maps to arcade games to simply the right to connect to play online. when you translate all the annual 360 fees into euros or Yen it tends to get a lot larger and harder on the wallet then it was to begin with. Thus no one really wants to give it a try and with the lack of microsoft marketing out there everyone sees flat out the 360 as an expensive console. Which in reality it really is when you are paying so much extra on everything.

The UK charts list multiplatform games together, so GTA is PS2 and PSP version sales combined. (Mostly PS2 sales.) Cars is out on pretty much all platforms I believe. Sadly, I fall within this Pal region. Most so called ?Hardcore Gamers? in South Africa don?t even know who Zelda, Metroid or what the DS are. A lot of titles sold in South Africa are imported from the UK and I think it is what screwing up the UK sales charts. That is why I import all my games. I don?t want to play Cars or Soccer games.

Liberty City Stories was such a horrible game IMO. I can't believe it still sells so much. UK is Sony land.

Cars at number 1? Not a surprise. Cars for the PC at number 1? Huge surprise. It doesn't seem like people who play Cars would also have a good gaming PC. Very surprised.... EDIT: Nevermind that. This is a cross platform chart. :oops:

FIFA 06 is an amazing game, the only thing I could complain about this game is the Extras, I wanna MORE LOL. Oh have I mentioned that the manager mode is an amazing experience?

It never ceases to amaze how stupid and arrogant some people commenting on the UK industry that you probably know next to nothing about because if you did then you would know that in the UK the majority of players are young and you would also know that the hardcore gamer is a very small minority. In the UK video games still has more of 'kiddy' image than in usa and other countries but like i said you probably know next to nothing about the UK industry. I havent bought a game for ages and dont tend on buying another game for this gen because i am saving for the 360 and ps3.

1) All of you who say that the U.K has bad taste, look at what has been released here recently and tell me what games you would buy. There is a reason it is called the summer drought in games. Also, try to tell me that Cars isn't in the US chart, because you know it is. 2) The Reason the Platforms keep changing and why there is no Xbox up there is because this is the cross platform chart. So when it says "Cars (PC)" that includes all the versions of cars. Hence why it is number one, alot of different versions.

Dexter, the list you just put up, is it a list of games that shouldn't be on the list? If so you are an idiot because animal crossing wild world is one of the best games ever

Blacktorn, don't come in here bashing the 360 for having no games on that list. The PC version of Cars is #1 on that list. Need I say more?? It's obvious you aren't buying the games for their quality.

The reason why this looks bad is because at the moment no good new games have been released in the UK let alone all of Europe. We either don't get games the US have or wait up to 6 months for them to come out. Hopefully at the end of Sep KHII will be up there.

It's the summer, the only people buying games in the U.K are small children and chavs, so yeah. Just wait till next month, this list will be much more exciting, with Saints Row, Dead Rising, and then eventually Kingdom Hearts 2.

It almost identical to last weeks and thats because no good games have come out for months here in the UK the only people buying are casuals and there is a lot of them with bad taste as do most casuals. I wouldnt take any notice of the UK chart til the end of september because then there will be quite a few good games coming out but because the majority of gamers in the UK are casuals you can still expect to see some crap games on it. I still wouldnt expect to see many 360 games though because it isnt doing too well and the casuals are loyal to sony as you can see. I would love to see the actual figures of how many sold for each because it would be very very low number.

I live in the UK and on its behalf id like to apologise for this crappy taste in games, you see here we have alot! of "chavs" who think that any game that doesn't let you gun down people or be able to kick a football around is poor, they only like good graphics and blood. as for Cars being #1 thats just kiddy crap

what is cars still doing there? It doesn't deserve #1. I'm telling ya, the UK must have some bad taste at games.
