UK Game Charts: October 29 to November 4

Need for Speed Carbon swerves straight to the top of the charts; Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories debuts at six.

Get your motors running, because Electronic Arts' Need for Speed Carbon has driven all over the football pitches of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and FIFA 07 to get to the top slot of the UK All-Formats game chart.

It's a good week generally for EA, who boasts six titles in the top 40, including three out of the top four slots. It's also a good time for Rockstar--Canis Canem Edit (aka Bully) stays in class at five, whereas Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for the PSP debuts at number six.

The highest climber of the week is The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, which storms ahead 12 places to 16. The biggest loser of the week is Battlefield 2142, plummeting 18 to 31.

Two others are moving onward and upward--Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends goes up seven places to 27, while Singstar Legends crawls one space ahead to 23. And there's lots of downward motion, including Cars, which finally moves out of the top 10 to 13, and Destroy All Humans! 2, which goes down 16 to 35.

It's also worth noting that four of the games in the top 10 are single-platform titles, including the two Rockstar games, Sega's Football Manager 2007, and THQ's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade.

New entries this week are Atari's Neverwinter Nights 2 at 14, Activision's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance at 24, and Atari's Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 at 29.

Next Friday will see a healthy amount of new titles released on this side of the pond, including Medieval 2: Total War for the PC, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007, F.E.A.R., Call of Duty 3, and Need for Speed Carbon for the Xbox. Next week will also see quite a few new Nintendo DS titles for the UK, namely Tomb Raider: Legend, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Age of Empires: Age of Kings, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team.

wow its november already! I keep thinking its still July! LOL The DS is really going to cook up a storm for the UK this christmas IMO, its going to totally smash the pink psp attempt with the pink ds lite, and I think that the ds, and the wii will be the best selling consoles. And I think that the 360 will sell more than the ps2. And I think that the ps2 will sell more than the psp.. Cant wait to see what sells well over christmas! So I can prove myself right lol :P

I only have one of those games on the charts - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Gonna try and get Canis Canem Edit and The Sims 2: Pets soon.

wow thats the first time in ages nintendo havent had a single title in the top 10! Well technically Splinter cell is on the Wii lol

From what I've seen it's the current gen versions of Pro Evo that are flying off the shelves, not the massively overpriced, barely improved 360 version.

I would get GTA:VCS stories but it's only on PSP and I only know one person who has forked out for one of those and he's moved to Norway so there is no chance of me borrowing it. Note: PES 6 is multiplatform not just Xbox 360 although I think it sold well on that platform too.

It was predictable the majority of the UK market is casuals so games like scarface, gta, bully and nfs were always going to do well and football games always do well because the majority of the population love it.
