Why is this only a limited edition offer? And why does everyone get so critical of Microsoft for offering a second color of their console but not even blink when Nintendo announces a new color scheme for one of their systems every three months?
Microsoft's limited-edition package includes alabaster console, motion sensor, controller, Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports for $300.
Color-conscious gamers for a limited time have the chance to pick up an Xbox 360 in something other than dreary black. Today, Microsoft announced the glossy white Xbox 360 Special Edition 4GB Kinect Family Bundle is now shipping to retailers in the US, and it will launch in Europe and Brazil within the next few months.
Both the console and its Kinect complement will be recast in white, and Microsoft will also be including a white Xbox 360 wireless controller. The bundle also includes a three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, as well as retail copies of Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures. It costs $299.99.
Those interested in just the white controller can buy it separately for $49.99.
I want one in ORANGE !! maybe PURPLE !! No No GREEN !! Microsoft should let the consumer pick from 10-15 different colours, or better yet just come out with a new colour every year. Sooo many colours it's hard to decide maybe I'll buy one of each ... nah the black one works fine. Personally I don't care what the colour is on the outside is as long as the thing works on the inside. Microsoft should focus its energy on the internal workings of the Xbox, so not to have a repeat of the "Red Ring of Death" issue. Who cares about the external colour ?? Really ...
I wish Sony would release the PS3 slim in white. I would buy one day one just to back up my PS3 launch 60 gig. I love white electronics.
ooo... i wanted a white version ever since i bought my black elite....take kinect out though and add a harddrive..
@Emon85 Congrats on the free Xbox Slim. Which store did you win it at? I've only been to the Microsoft Store in Bellevue, WA (near where I live). I'd like to see a 250gb bundled with Kinect for $350, I think that would sell very well. I'd also like to see more controller colors. I've had white, red, black, and blue, but anything other than black and white is really hard to find. I use the Slim 250gb as my main right now, with my MW2 120gb for my 2nd TV (for when friends come over), plus I have the original white 20gb for backup. I've also owned the RE5 Red Xbox 360, but sold that when I bought the MW2 one. I wish I would have kept the RE5 one though!
@Landsharkk: I, too, still have my white Xbox 360. I tried to do Team Hydrid's X-clamp fix a while back but I obviously did something wrong since it only powers up for about 5 minutes and then shut downs again. I bought a 120GB Elite 2 years after the white one generated the RROD and just last November I won a 250GB Slim at a Microsoft Store midnight game launch for Halo: Combat Evolved. A.E. :D @Link3301: Yeah, I noticed that too.
It's a 4gb. Therefore don't buy it. Microsoft's biggest mistake with the 360 was making hard drives optional, they should have made it so every 360 has at least a 20gb built-in hard drive. It sucks that devs have had to accommodate the Core System and 4gb Slim this whole time.
The black gives the xbox a more sleek and sexy look compared to the white wash out colour. It could be cool if the new xbox would have other colours like red, gold and blue not just black or white.
They just couldn't stay away from the color White could they. The instant i see a White 360 the first thought in my head is RROD.
I was just thinking to myself the other day why did xbox change their color to black...now that i see the slim console white i can see why they changed it black, like they say once you go black you don't go white, or something like that.
I dont even know why M$ still presses the 4GB console. You can hardly do anything with that little amount of storage except game saves. It is just me or is there a frowny face in the middle of the box? That the required emotion when people see how useless Kinect is for gaming but decent for everything else it wasnt advertised for?
Im sorry 4 GB? Why do they even make it that low? After Downloading all the new XBL updates you might have enough space left over to get a few arcade games or 1 DLC expansion.
Ha, I gave my wife my white launch day 360. I use the Elite 120gig from a few years back. Gave it to her due to the 20 gig drive she doesn't play much. It works just fine.
I still have an original white Xbox 360, I just let my friend borrow it 2 days ago, still works fine. :) I own 3 Xbox 360's total, I'm a bit obsessed.
Dang, that looks very nice, but it brings back terrible memories of my other white xbox 360 RRODing on me while playing Halo 3 the first week it was released... :(
