I own a Wii, but I am going to go for MW2. I already played COD4 on 360, and I don't want to be behind.
Infinity Ward's 2007 hit Call of Duty 4 gets a belated port to Nintendo platform this November as sequel arrives for other systems.
Activision is launching a Call of Duty blitzkrieg this week, as it followed up Monday's news of a DS installment of Modern Warfare with word that it's opening another front in its assault on store shelves. The publisher today announced that the 2007 blockbuster Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will finally be coming to the Wii on November 10, the same day Modern Warfare 2 hits the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Much like Modern Warfare 2, the Wii port of the original game has undergone a cosmetic name change. Where Infinity Ward's latest installment of the series dropped the "Call of Duty" brand from some packaging and in some advertising, the Wii version of the developer's previous hit will be the number-less Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Modern Warfare isn't the Call of Duty series' first tour on Nintendo's console. Last year, Treyarch had a Wii version of its Call of Duty: World at War ready to launch day-and-date with its siblings, and Ekakt brought Call of Duty 3 to the system's launch lineup in 2006.
Activision has not released details on new features or additional content being incorporated into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The port is being handled by Treyarch, makers of last year's Call of Duty: World at War and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
the wii really is a good system on any over console u cant aim 4 yourself. On 360 and ps3 you can get every shot on target its not realistic wiv that.shooting games r great on the wii ive got codwaw(5 stars) cant wait 4 modern warfare and concerntrate on the wii version more plz YEAH
if u own a wii ur not a hardcore gamer... hahah JK!!!! i knw someone raged for a second. i actually like playin wii but it can't replace my 360 :D. I hope they make MW Better then WOW at least with the outrageous fog. the game play felt great but the fog made me feel like i was in 1999 playin N64.... ugh
this isnt COD World at War, it's just the video underneath says Call of Duty: World at War game play..
I think i know why they released it late because of Motion+, they probably wanted to make use of motion+ on to make the game to make it even better.
Well, even though the game came out originally in 2007, there hasnt been a first person shooter to beat it so far. Modern warfare 2 looks like it will be amazing, but hey, us nintendo fans will still get our modern fix on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Plus, Call of Duty 7 is being made bye Treyarch so were gauranteed to see it on the wii. All you Wii haters can suck my 3all5 cause guess what every other console is trying to do now. MOTION CONTROLS. O WOW. NO WAY. WHAT A SHOCKER. The Wii is a great system, and is finally starting to get a hardcore gamer base. WOOT
I bet in the whole history, the Wii never has a first person shooter as brutal as this. With no date on the release in Australia, I'll have to suspend my disbelief. The closest is Quantum of Solace but I'm glad the third party support is starting to improve. Call of Duty and Medal of Honor should be the number one choice when it comes to war on Nintendo console.
cool, and well get 2 months without hackers on nintendo wifi, then after that itll b unplayable online just like w@w? thanks nintendo ur online wifi rocks!
Wow... right at the release of the sequel. Imagine Nintendo Fan boys buying the game and loving it, and remember as they picked up the game, it's sequel was there too. Come on. As much as I don't care about this port, it was pretty unfair to leave these guys out if you were at all to put it on the Wii.
@ campbell153 Ther I agree , I brought my Wii thinking that It would kick ass, but now I feel a little dissapointed, dont missunderstande me I love my wii but as I say it is pointless to discuss about wich console is better
@Campbell153: I agree with you. The Wii IS different. Its something that can give you a break from that 'traditional console'. It has great potential when it comes to game play. It is fun to play, especially when there is more than 1 player. NO, you don't have to play a 'party' game to have fun... (I consider Metroid 3 to be fun) Too bad developers don't have the 'guts' to focus on the Wii.
What matters the most about a good game to you all? If you say gameplay, then the Wii is better in terms of envolvement due to the controls, plus you can use the Wii Zapper`s. If you say you prefer crisp graphics, then you would buy an Xbox or PS3 due to there HD graphics. What i do know is that i bought my Wii thinking "OMG there is going to be some sick games released on it" and also i thought "I am bored of conventional game consoles, the Wii IS different"... the latter part was correct! But i do have to say i have been dissapointed so far by the few good titles released on the Wii! I am bored of Mario games etc there does need to be some more good games made exclusively for the Wii! So i can see where people are coming from when they say "Wii graphics suck" but i dont realy care... i like the feel of being imersed in a game, the Wii achieves this hands down.
I gave the series a chance on my wife's Wii and the last one proved surprisingly fun for me. World at War's controls were pretty good on the Wii (I customized them to react much faster than default though) and I really enjoyed it's multiplayer mode too. I hope this port will support the new motion plus addon but the normal remote and nunchuck are already satisfying as experienced in the latest title. Ingame graphics were just fine but of course the PC version rules them all. Actually I found the Wii controls easier than gamepads because I'm used to mouse+keyboard. I could master them pretty fast compared to X360 and PS3 where it's impossible to point precisely and fast enough and aim assist feature is required to make you believe console gamepads are fit for FPS games. Console FPS versions are always more forgiving and easier than the PC ones, no wonder there's no cross platform multiplayer in most cases. I played Modern Warfare on the X360 aswell for a couple of hours and I found it pretty easy but uncontrollable. You don't even have to aim precisely on the head to deal a headshot in multiplayer. You can't anyway when it comes to reacting in 10th of a second. The Wii controls are pretty fine regarding that aspect of the game.
@facistinabag: Whatever. You think the Wii sucks, fine. Like I said, you have the right to your opinion. I think it's a perfectly legitimate competitor in this current generation of consoles, as do millions of other people. Debating it doesn't do anyone any good. It's all a matter of opinion. I look forward to playing this on the Wii, and I hope you enjoy playing MW2 when it is released. I'll probably get that on the Wii when it's eventually released.
The graphics probably might not be good as the Wii doesnt have HD graphics and I don't think it will have motion controls
Since they dried out their last cash cow with Guitar Hero it seems Activision is at it again, I just hope they don't release a Modern Warfare every month.
How good were the previous installments of COD on the Wii? It seems like Infinity Ward really push the hardware , so I was just curious if anyone who has played it can tell me how it was?I'm very close to purchasing a Wii, mainly for their strong first party lineup, but have yet to add it to my next-gen collection.
@andrew_ribbons QFT @happyfatman021 Just to put this in perspective, the wii runs at 853 x 480 resolution. (Source http://jayant7k.blogspot.com/2007/11/xbox-360-vs-sony-ps3-vs-nintendo-wii.html) My laptop runs cod4 on low at 20 fps. My laptop is much better than the wii's listed stats. MUCH better. How in gods name, is something thats only slightly better than a computer I got in '03, going to run this game without a noticable drop in graphics, speed, and multiplayer? I've had the joy of playing Cod3 on the wii, the amount of fog they had to use to increase the framerate in 4 person multiplayer was insane. On xbox, PC and PS3, MW is like looking at a really hot chick. On the wii, it's like looking at the same chick in the rain, through a pair of broken binoculars held inside a beer bottle.
@eldin4444 thank you can like it or not like it but theres no reason to fight about an upcoming video game.
I don't get it , why is it that u people always argue about the best **** console I mean it is OK to love what u brought but to be so stupid, why don't we just respect each other choice an that's all or aren't wee adults well at least a good part of GS users. Lest just be happy for the others I mean I already played Modern Warfare for PC and loved it, and I know that a wii version wont be better at least in graphics than a ps3, xbox or pc version but does it really **** matters, u get to play the game that's all what cares right now, u want graphics get and HD console u want family games or new tech controls u get a wii and thats all.
@iilsSuez thats y im so happy the wii has about 4 great rated m games in my opinon Resident Evil 4,World at War,chop till you drop and the black and white one with a lot of blood. But i also like the very active family orintited games and this new game is gana take the wii down a new road.Good for some bad for others. Also im not at all sayin this will be better then the360 and ps3 versions the wii bets the fitness and family orinted part. But the 360 and ps3 will all was privale over everything else.excuse my spelling.
"I am sorry, but your "next-gen" systems have been beaten in reviews several times by the Wii. Look at Tiger Woods 10 for example. I am not saying Modern Warefare will be better then the X360 or PS3 versions, but what I am saying is that Nintendo is the leader right now and no matter how much you complain about it, it hasn't changed for the past 3 years." Waydago using a GOLF game as an example. Wow, that'll really pull me over. So far that's the arguement every Wii owner uses to claim their console is king. "Oh it can do golf games, tennis games.." Or you could go out and actually, i dunno, play real golf and tennis, getting real exercise in the process? Outside doesn't kill you. And as for Wii being the leader, you are basing that on soulless unit sales and statistics. What Nintendo have not done, is havest a mature and tantelising games for people with some lust for depth. Sure there's the Ninty classics, like Kart and Galaxy. However Mario Kart has essentially not changed much in 15 years, and Galaxy is just same old Mario with some added zest to the controls and feel. They don't really cater to the crowd who relish real games, like Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Fable 2, BioShock, Valve games and yes, even Halo.
@Bambii. You're the stupid 1. Have you ever been taught to spell? I'm a PS3 owner, ex-Wii owner and I say good on the dudes behind this. The Wii may be aimed at families yes, but it also has a large amount teens that were expecting so much more from the console at it's beginning but were sadly let down by Nintendo and game producers. I was one of those teens. If WaW wasn't released, my Wii would not have been touched for months. This'll be a breath of fresh air for all those teen faithfuls, especially seeing as though The Conduit was such a flop.
@ELPadilla there are tons of tthings any game can improve on even the best i have never seen a 10.0 rating on any game ever
another thing for those people who say its stupied y are you even hre talking about it leave the solo wii owners to have there exitement and talk about it
Hey Bambii12633 I own all 3 systems so I have a right to be judgemental most of the games that are not first party on the Wii are terrible ports so I've been conditioned by Nintendo to jump to that conclusion. There is nothing that Treyarch can do to COD4MW on the Wii that will make it any better or even pale in comparison to the PC and 360 versions I already own.
@facistinabag: You can't base your expectations on one game (particularly such a critical failure). Have you tried games like Metroid Prime 3 or Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition? I'll assume not, because I'm thinking you just want to cling to your excuse to continue your Wii-bashing. If you don't like the Wii, that's fine, you have the right to your own opinion, but give Wii gamers that same courtesy and allow us to enjoy it without being constantly insulted.
I cant believe the response this news has caused???!!! Look at these Xbox and PS3 fanboy`s slating the Wii off and the fact Wii is getting MW! I`m not too sure exactly how or why this offends the other gen owners? I own a Wii and i cant wait to see MW released for it! This IS good news for Nintendo... obviously the "big" games developers are now taking notice of the Wii due to the fact it IS the number 1 selling console now.. So you Wii hater`s sit down and shut the **** up! This news does not concern you!
Even though it's the 1st MW, It'll still be better than WaWii and TCon. Both games are unimpressive.
Thank you @EtherTwilight that is me all i have is a wii and waw for wii is super popular more popular than the ps3 version
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/wii-sales-propel-call-of-duty-world-at-war-past-cod4/ For those who won't read: In the December following World at War's release, the title sold over 366k units just on the Wii. This is very strong incentive for this move, from a business sense at least, from Activision. I work in a videogame store, and every day I have people ask me if certain games are on the Wii. One of those games is Modern Warfare, and people are always bummed when I say no. There are plenty of people out there whose only home console is the Wii. I'm not a fan of Activision personally, but I can understand why they're bringing MW to the Wii. http://www.gamerankings.com/wii/946229-call-of-duty-world-at-war/index.html World at War is currently rated an aggregate 83.17% on the Wii. That doesn't sound like an awful game to me. It's also rated just under 3 points lower than the Xbox 360 version of WAW, so I don't see a huge disparity there. I mean, I don't expect the Wii version to score the whopping 94% CoD:MW currently has on 360, but I also don't think it's going to be getting 6's across the board. I mean, c'mon guys. Everyone cries foul about the lack of "core" games on the Wii, but when they come out, nobody buys them - Madworld, No More Heroes, The Conduit, House of the Dead: Overkill, etc. Call of Duty is a) A core game, and b) Will sell well, and most importantly, c) Wii owners will be happy.
