PS2 and GBA are TANKS!! And as a side note..Pretty good launch for Wii U in Japan considering most of the launch games are geared toward western audiences.

It's so bizarre to me that this and the Vita ever came out. I mean, I see them in the stores, but it's like... they just sort of snuck in, or like the stores put them on the shelves in hopes that no one would notice. I don't know about anywhere else in the world, but that energy that came with a NEW CONSOLE just isn't there. Could be me slowly drifting out of the loop, but yeah, it's weird to think that the creators of the NES, SNES, N64 etc released a new console and there were no pyrotechnics or ominous displays in the stores like the old days. I remember Toys R Us having the N64 dead center of the store, 9 tvs linked to create a giant monitor that displayed what the demo was playing. There were N64 tshirts, figures, and things all around. Loud music. Dreamcast had like 6 systems running in one area with huge posters. Every time, it was set up like there was a party going on and for a couple hundred dollars, you could take the party home. Now it seems like it lacks so much energy that you didn't even know about the party... and it was happening in your house.

@GlaciusXL I blame the internet. Nowadays people go into a store knowing exactly what to expect. Back in the N64 days you would walk into a store and suddenly see a new console from Nintendo/Sony/Sega being advertised. That kind of lack of predictability was what kept our excitement peaked. Now you watch about a dozen videos of someone playing a new console on Youtube and gradually kills your anticipation for it.

PS2 beats everything :).  It goes to show it's amongst one of the greatest generations of gaming.  If only gamecube and dreamcast hadn't been discontinued...

@alrepairs  Sony killed the Dreamast with all their PS2 hype... convincing people to wait for the launch of the PS2 rather than buy a Dreamcast... and then delivering a console that wasn't up to all it's promises.

Shame, the Dreamcast was a great machine... but if you're going to bang on about online play maybe releasing a game that used the online function for more than just leaderboards would have been a good idea.

Pretty solid start considering the times, been pretty busy and just got around to un-boxing mine.  After spending some time with the system I gotta to say without a doubt, if you're a 3rd party developer and can't find the potential for creating unique games and gameplay on this little system......you don't belong in this industry!

7 day sale in US - 400,000

WEEKEND (2 day sale in Japan) 300,000+

Any hater would obviously miss what is....obvious here...

Japan (Nintendo's hometown) loves the Wii U, just like the US does.

Though, I feel fucking sorry for Europe, seriously -_-.

TTDog

@alrepairs I don't think that Europe are overly bothered at having to wait for the WiiU... its not like there's anything that we haven't seen before... Nintendo late to the party again with another gimmicky controller.

Loving mine so far! It's a fun console, the second screen is nice, and the Miiverse community is great.

And yes, the console has resided in my golden pants with the question marks on them.

GeezerPleazer

@Someguy1212 lol, its funny that the Wii totally blasted the 360 in terms of total sales, and how many people had to buy more than one 360 because they are shoddy and had like a 95% fail rate (RROD).  Soeven after thousands of people had to buy another 360 the wii still outsold them.  Wii ? 97.18 million as of 30 September 2012, Xbox 360 ? 70.0 million as of 30 September 2012

Don't even know how nintendo dared to release this console. They should have made it a console mainly aimed at the xbox360-like pro controllers with gameplay like that. They should have shipped it with that(1) as well as 1 numchuck and wii remote for motion sensor games like psmove. Then, the gamepad should have been an add-on.

@jollyjoel23  1) Why would I want to buy what you're describing when I already own a 360?2) The tablet controller and Nintendo IP are the reasons this is not a 360 clone that costs $150 more3) Nintendo does not have the money to outmuscle MS/Sony with high end hardware, they have to innovate with motion controls and tablets

@jollyjoel23 The gamepad has all the same buttons as the 360/Wii U Pro controller and more. I don't understand your logic.

@Kenshin0011  @jollyjoel23 No it doesn't, it doesn't even have analog triggers, an industry standard now and days

@woodyfr  @dunk_420 You guys are funny.

Dreamfist11 defends racing gamers when convenient, attacks Nintendo fans, and says sports games / Street Fighter is garbage.

Weightful opinions = limited and completely inconsiderable.

Fact: People who love racing games don't buy Analog triggers.  They buy wheel / pedal peripherals at bestbuy.

I'm not talking about idiot impulse buyers, i'm talking about hardcore racing game enthusiasts.

dreamfist11
dreamfist11

@Kenshin0011 There you go spinning the conversation, this has nothing to do with a PC or if its a reason or not for people to pass up on a WiiU, you falsely stated that the gamepad has the same buttons as the other controls, I called you out on it and you bring up some other shit.

Anyone who loves racing games is fucked with the WiiU, and by itself it may not be a reason to pass on the WiiU but combined with everything else it is

Kenshin0011
Kenshin0011 like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 5 Like

@dreamfist11  Many would argue and say the industry standard for FPS is mouse and keyboard, not analog triggers. Hardly a reason for someone to not want a Wii U.

@emptycow  The 360 and PS3 are in beautiful full bloom and are fully fleshed out. They've been out for over half a decade, their prices are lowered, and they have a massive library of games. Why do you think a new console would or should outsell them?
