The problem with this venture is that too many kids are going to be disenchanted with the product because the US version won't have any coupons for cadavers or any of the other macabre reagents, and as a consequence--WON'T BE ABLE TO CAST SPELLS! What a rip off! What a way to estrange your largest pool of fans! Rowling, YOU are the real witch!
Wonderbook: Book of Spells launching Nov. 13
Sony shipping stand-alone version of J.K. Rowling collaboration for Sony's new platform at $40 and Move bundle at $80 this fall.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that Wonderbook: Book of Spells will launch in the United States on November 13. The game will be released in two versions, the first of which is a $40 stand-alone iteration that includes the game and a Wonderbook peripheral.
The second bundle is the Wonderbook: Book of Spells Move pack (at right), which includes the game, a Wonderbook peripheral, a PlayStation Eye camera, and a PlayStation Move motion controller for $80.
Book of Spells is the first project to use Sony's new Wonderbook platform, and taps into the Harry Potter universe created by J.K. Rowling. In the game, players will learn how to cast a range of spells, including Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa, and Expelliarmus, using the PlayStation Move controller as a wand.
In addition to Book of Spells, Sony has a number of projects in the pipeline for Wonderbook. These include Diggs: Nightcrawler--a detective noir game from Oscar-winning studio Moonbot--as well as BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs, and a mystery project with Disney Interactive Studios.
