Zombie Studios making 'thriller' with Unreal 4

Blacklight developer creating PC "psychological thriller" due in 2013 running on Epic Games' next-generation game engine.
Blacklight: Tango Down and Blacklight: Retribution developer Zombie Studios is the second publicly known licensee for Unreal Engine 4. The company today announced that it is licensing Epic Games' next-generation game engine to power a new PC "psychological thriller" due for release during the second quarter of 2013 (April-June).
No further details on the project are available.
Zombie Studios follows Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider publisher Square Enix in signing a deal with Epic Games to license Unreal Engine 4. That deal was described as "long-term" and "sweeping," noting it will span multiple games from Square Enix.
Epic Games' own Fortnite was the first game to be confirmed to run on Unreal Engine 4. It is due out sometime in 2013 exclusively for the PC.

The PC is getting the best "psychological thrillers" the way its looking... Need to start upgrading mine, it's gonna be awhile before I see an Alan Wake-esque game on a 360 again
The way the article was wrote, I thought they are gonna make "Thriller" video of MJ with UE 4.
I wonder how my GTX 680 will handle Unreal 4. I don't want to upgrade for at least another year.

@SteamyPotatoes @Jwash16 if a gtx 680 cant max out unreal engine 4 then what can? if unreal engine 4 goes to 360 and ps3 then how will it be possible that the gtx 680 cant max unreal engine 4??
@SteamyPotatoes @Jwash16 well, if UE4 goes to current-gen consoles then i believe current high end pcs won't have any problem...if it goes straight to next-gen consoles (although i doubt it) then we will have to wait and see...
@Stereobeatbox @Jwash16 Depends on the game more than anything , pretty much a case by case basis & how much the developer is pushing the graphical fidelity and how much needs to be rendered on the screen at once.
4 Like i dont understand is why Square Enix made Luminous Engine if they signed a "long term" deal with UE4.
@pezzott1 Square Enix has many studios, they could give it to the smaller studios to make low budget/mobile games like what they are doing with Unreal 3 right now.
@pezzott1 because just the demo for Luminous Engine took ~6 months or so to complete?
While UE4 is heck of a lot easier to work with...
@Mr_BillGates According to early rumors it's not F2P title . It's single player game but nothing is official yet .
1 Like As good as those words sound I know it is nothing but a big old nasty let-down, since the 'thrill' will be nothing more inspiring than a zombie on-rail shooting gallery and the 'psychological' elements will be nothing but head games with ambiguous product claims, or worse, cliched and nauseating social themes! Either way I don't put it past anyone that boasts the Unreal-ANYTHING to rate above the putrid depths of 'M.'

BL:R is awful, one of the worst shooters I've played and really a poor man's Call of Duty, which is funny because up until playing BL:R, I thought CoD was poor man's CoD.
Not expecting anything decent with this one.

I feel bad for all the Wii U fans who bought an outdated console and now will miss out on the benefits of next gen. Oh and Yes Nintendo Fan boys graphics are very important :)

When I saw "Zombie" and "thriller" in the same sentence I immediately thought they were remaking Michael Jackson's music video in UDK.
I guess I can settle for a horror game.

1 Like Epic seriously should revive UT. UT04 and 3 were and still are awesome games, but a brand new arena type game would be sweet. Nexuiz gets pretty close, but there just doesn't seem to be any players and there's just something missing.

I sure as hell miss the Unreal series though (especially Unreal Tournament)...
Hopefully just maybe it'll set crapcom in its place and show 'em what they've been doing wrong since the old Resident Evil games.

@SurlyPotato no, these kinds of PC graphics will probably not even be possible on the generation AFTER 720 ps4 if any more console generations happen. Tablets and mobile phone games will kill the games console off. PCs that plug into TVs will be the future of proper games while all the leftover shit is on tablets.

But can those with power rigs use all that power....mmmm...I'm glad to see they're targeting PC hopefully they'll push the envelope of hardware enthusiasts and we'll have another benchmark game?
@jerryatricrejec I'm actually enjoying being able to max out the settings on the games I play. Once my rig gets outdated, the next set of hardware on my list is going to run around $2000, and I'm not looking forward to that.

You don't really need to get a rig that's two grand.
@dahaoleboy69 @poster012 @jerryatricrejec Yes, you can pay $700 for a rig that will max games right now, but it's going to get dated a lot more quickly. I payed about $1600 for my computer almost two years ago, and it still maxes out games. Had I just spent $700, that wouldn't be the case. I don't feel like upgrading every year. By the time I'm ready to buy again, I'll probably end up spending a little under $2000, but hopefully I will last several years. In the long run, it's not really that much more expensive.
