I do not understand how the enemies AI can be so good while your team one is so poor. Nice to play with friends. The review is accurate I totaly agree.

Doombringer nailed it right on the head. The original flashpoint back in 01 was the best ofp game to date. I was so disappointed with dragon rising because it didn't return to its roots of showings alll sides of the conflict (infantryman,tanker,pilot,spec ops). But that's why Arma 1 and Arma 2 is the best now.

ehh... this game was good, but i think i preferred dragon rising and it was far from great. still enjoyed the game thoroughly and loved the co-op fire team engagements

I love the original Operation Flashpoint which I own on PC with all the expansion packs. Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising was a good game but didn't port well to the consoles. I haven't played the PC version but perhaps it is better, Dragon Rising was a good game, not great but still good. Due to the realism of the game though, teammates going in front of you can be annoying and leaning isn't in the game. A few small improvements would've made that game great.

In the video review, Carolyn says that it's a good looking game, but the text review says "lackluster visuals." :?

I honestly love how people say they love the first OPF... does anyone know that Dragon Rising was the SECOND? The first was called Operation Flashpoint:Cold War Crisis and much better aligned itself with the ARMA like gameplay with vast landscapes and an absolutely huge story. Its map editor added hours and hours of gameplay. By far my favorite game for the Xbox. My only problem with this is where did they put the variety, no fixed wing aircraft, helo's, map editor, what happened to the Original Flashpoint?

thank God they didn't use imagery of Carolyn on this one...wouldn't want to scare off more potential watchers. Pretty decent review if i'm to be completely objective.

@kargion So true, Shooters have to have Competitive multiplayer. Storymode, even with friends, can get boring after a while.

no competitive mp makes me pass on this with other games coming out soon. Maybe get it once it goes down in price

Codemasters learned nothing from their last outing. They do not listen to their audience but its own stubbornness. Sadly, unless you have extra money to go for it; there are better games out already--and a lot of great games coming out soon. They, once again, missed a great opportunity.

Also, the score seems low given the praise the game was being given in the video review. I would've said it deserves an 8.5 from the effusing praise heaped on the game. Gamespot surprises me again. Still, I'm gonna buy this game.

Looks good. Will definitely buy it. I don't enjoy the twitchy, move your hands and legs super fast gameplay of Call of Duty type games. I buy those too but I like the slower methodical gameplay of games like Rainbow six, OpFlashpoint etc.

im about two thirds my way through this and i have to be honest getting very bored of the racial slurs and rickety ticks thats constantly coming out of the soldier's mouths. Not doing their reputations of being the most ignorant race on the planet any favours..Anyway i digress, this is a much better outing than the first, a gd game.

i was wating for this game so bad..... i guess i just wait on battlefield3 i dont wana play cod game they so bord and fake as hell ........o well.... i fell very unpleasant with this game....

I loved Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising & I will be picking this up. He says that your teammates don't just "stay" when told so....Uhm, in real life, if soldiers don't just take orders to sit there to catch a bullet when being fired upon. This isn't MWF, BO's...this isn't a run & gun game, don't plan correctly & adjust to the intelligent A.I. & you will die.

Low res texture? lmao stupid ass gamespot. Put it on X16 idiots with Advanced AA and this game is visually beautiful. The AI never steps infront of me because they say "Crossing paths" they give a warning before they are ready to step infront of you. You have poor player skills & awareness and call it an AI issue. I never had issues with the AI, they react fast, take cover when the enemy supresses them. But i play with no hud pretty much lol. you cant just put your teammates on follow then complain about poor AI. Tactial is Tactial... 70% of the time, When we had to take a town or a small base, i had 2 guys with M16 & a sniper rifle camped in a building while me and the SAW user went building to building. I never had AI issues, they killed guys that tried to flank me and anyone that stepped in the open to reposition.

First was almost a complete abomination due to poor support by codemasters to actually get an online game going. I dont even think they bothered to fix it. Will pass on this.

I remember the first operation flashpoint, I had fin with that.

I have & love Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising & I WILL be picking this one up. It's a great game that falls victim to those that accept the game for what it is...A realistic shooter game. It's great on-line in co-op & this will be also.

Man that co-op looks sweet! About time someone made a shooter focusing on squad-based teamwork and cooperative play versus competitive gaming...which is a dime a dozen. Been waiting for anything to come out reaching for mil-sim gameplay AND feature strong co-op experiences. GRAW used to do that for us and the only alternative now is Socom 4's co-op missions (which aren't bad)...but this is a nice breath of fresh air. It sucks that people look at a review "score" to put value to a game now a days and pass judgement...especially when the game was reduced to a 6 only because of poor ally A.I. (instead of a 7-5 or 8 rating) rather than being taxed for a bug filled experience or relatively unplayable game. I know it's not a 10 game (that much is clear), but when people bash on a game that they A) don't have interest in and/or B) isn't "scored" high enough, that they insist it sucks and that you suck for wanting to play it and don't agree with their interests.

yeah i did... had a little luck finding it, downloaded to see if it was worth buying or not... i had it for more than 2 weeks now... and the moment it hits shelves I'm getting it... Just don't want the same experience with any other game like the one i had with Sniper: Ghost Warrior. Bought the damn game the moment i could and than couldn't get rid of it, besides throwing it in the trash.

My god, I watched 2 minutes of the video and gave up. The content's great, the gameplay is great, but I'm sorry - for the life of me I cannot put up with the reviewer's voice. I don't mean this to offend, I just mean this to be a helpful feedback from a long time GS'er. Please find someone else to voice this person's reviews. Meantime I'll go check out the written version...

I played this game a lot and the AI is actually quite good... You just have to be quick!!! Quick commands to the team and it's awesome... YOU FEEL SOO IN CONTROL... it's really good. Don't agree totally...

I actually liked Dragon Rising and will probably be picking Red River up too... Why do I like it? Because it is so different! You have freedom of choice, and the AI don't "annoy" too much if you know how to use them, using them to flank or surpress instead of using the follow command and then crying when, due to your bad choice of formation, your squad ends up between your bullet and the enemy! Learn to play the game before reviewing it... Should be an 8 at least, but then this is Gamespot... only COD gets a 9, right??

Mabey the AI sucks because it dosnt have its ballls glued to a invisble railway track guiding where it does every.single.play through.

Would someone explain to me why this and Dragon Rising both merit video reviews but the superior ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead don't?

I expected this game to get a low score as any shooter who tries to do something differently from the twitch shooter style of CoD always does nowadays. It seems everything nowadays is compared to CoD and it sucks because I find CoD to be quite boring as its just walk down corrider, shoot, duck and heal, pop out shoot some, more then continue down linear corrider.

Why did they get Kermit to review this?

Don't have a guy who sound "unmanly" to do a voice review for something as hardcore as a war sim.

I have the game. Bought it for 30 quid. Have played all the flashpoints. Dragon rising had it's issues but some of the missions were quite thrilling. Especially the night ones! I have to say I love Red river. They have made some improvements however I agree, the swearing is a complete joke. I end up leaving my room and getting a cuppa when Sergant Knox opens his mouth. And the visuals aren't to die for. But look how shocking BLOPS looks, then look at this and your fine with it. Good game deserves a 7.5/8 IMO
