I think I'll main a Cast/Ranger for starters! Run, jump, dodge, shoot.
Then possibly a Human/Force. I've never been one to get too close to the action: I preferred a good artillery role.

Hope I'm not reading into this to much, but if I'm correct you won't be able to switch classes in PSO2. It's set just like its' predecessor Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, and you will only have one profession to stick with.
Allows you the chance to make new characters with only one class, and it does sound unique. (for the hardcore gamer)

As long as it ends up here... HUcast like every other PSO I have played... Probably R-109 Ver 5.0 this time.... Unless they bring back section IDs or something similar then I am going to go crazy on my name again... At least Yellowboze was fun on Blue Burst...

Once as FONewearl, Always will be. I started as one (well actually Beast in PS-Portable, but in PSO1 I started as a FONewearl instead, and have been one in PS-Portable 1 & 2 as a secondary) and will stay as one all the way, regardless of the rigors which wait ahead.

I read that the level system is class based and it allows your character to move between them freely, but is there a penalty or cost for switching?

probably going to have two characters, one iconic and one of my own
Some kind of ranger, Cast or human, and im going to name him Snake. if snake is taken then Solid (or Naked) Snake.
Then probably a human hunter, i was always use to being a hunter in PsU
