Omar Kendall and Seth Killian talk strategy with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale's latest combatant: Raiden.
After trying to watch four videos on gamespot now, i want to chop off all five of those thumbs Paul Rudd insists on telling me about.
I'm not even kidding.. the more I see of this the more I love it!!
An Uncharted based arena with Uncharted 3 soundtrack?? Then Raiden does his power move and everyone appears in boxes!?
What the hell. The game is frickin genius. Well looking forward to it! :D
@warhawk-geeby Should be amazing but the genius part came from Nintendo's super smash bros which I love so I can't wait to play this too.
Frankly, if it's as good as SSB, even if a ripoff, then I'd be happy to pick it up. A SSB-esque game on the PS3, with decent online compared to the Wii, would be MORE entertaining and competitive then SSB could be simply because of its console.
This is not a bash on Wii either, its lack of dependable online functionality is fact. :)
@Birth_By_Sorrow Kinda makes you wonder about how Microsoft will react if this game sells well :P
@NightFox313 it will make another ssb ripoff with master chief & company..
When always an update of this game theres always a genius posting: Is a SSB rip off, Is SSB rip off i dont like it , whres my bottle.
Is the same to said that all the fps after doom are a ripoff
whar surprises me more is that this type of game wasnt release earlier;
everything about this game reminds me ssb and i dont like its style...very childish to me....they could have done something like urban reign or even power stone ...
To anyone saying this isn't a SSB copycat, it is. But that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. They're capitalizing off of the idea, although in my opinion they aren't doing it very well. The art styles of each character aren't really meshed as well as they are in SSB, this is evident by the fact that the screen is so zoomed out and isn't really giving 1 player a certain amount of attention.
In super smash bros, when all of the players are close the screen zooms in and gives you a more close view, while the view on this seems to be locked unless everyone moves too far form each other. Either that Or maps will only occupy the same screen, which means no zoom at all and playing from this forced prospective.
Another thing is... well. The concept. Sure other games have done it before SSB, but only SSB has done it in this grand scale. Bringing all exclusives under one console to a big fighting game together. In this same exact style too.
But enough about similarities, I also wanted to rant about the gameplay direction this game has taken itself.
Next is this forced special thing. One might argue that they would be copying Smash if they brought out arena block outs, but this forced way of fighting doesn't really let you vary. You can only really kill someone with one of the specials, where in smash you can KO someone with a variety of moves, specials OR items. In this it's just a beatdown to get your special bar and use specials, nothing but to specials to win. While it sounds like a the perfect rat race, it also sounds like it will get boring fast, and most people will know what to expect.
Theres where level 3's come in. Anyone with patience knows that level 3's are pretty much unavoidable, and this game doesn't seem to have a proper blocking/dodging mechanic like SSB does. It seems like once you get caught in the radius of any special you're doomed.
@Trainer_Red "In super smash bros, when all of the players are close the screen zooms in and gives you a more close view, while the view on this seems to be locked unless everyone moves too far form each other..."
>> Apparently you didn't watch much of the video. Check it out from around 4:15 on. The camera zooms way in just like SSB when they are all close together.
This is a blatant copy of super smash brothers...it's just not gonna happen for me. I am the only one of my friends that owned a play station and played the crap out of it and still do to this day but this is just...pathetic. Too little too late. I dont really buy ps3 games anymore. More of a microsoft fan now, they killed armor core and a dynasty warriors early on.
@davidsworld3 enjoy your crapbox then and ur milked franchises while i enjoy my yearly exclusives games, u stuck with 3 milked games this entire generation kkthxbb
@davidsworld3 i would apreciate if you red my last comment i think it will explain why its not just a ssb copycat... btw by that theory of yours mortal kombat is a street fighter copycat (i personally dont know which was first or when the first fighting game came out) and also COD, Battlefield, medal of honor... all of them are wolfestein 3d's copicat
They should have made it so that when Raiden dies, colonel or rose should shout RAIDEN! (or JACK! for rose).
I'm liking this ...uncharted level? Watching this, I think I'm always gonna like Smash better. I know most of these PlayStation guys, but ??I just love Nintendo characters and I like knockin everybody off the platforms better I think. I'm getting this game no matter what though
@GamespotSux_IKR Bioshock Infinite level I think, and I think I'd prefer knocking people off platforms too haha...
from what i have seen.. this game is pretty different from what ssb is... in fact i have seen some stuff that make it different. First of all it has a slowet pace and its gameplay (i mean combos and stuff) its a lot different from its nintendo "equal" nevertheless this game is going to be great.
Its very original and has taken only a few characteristics from ssb, the caracter recopilation and the guest characters is one of them, also, they took the final smash concept and made what i think is called a finish putting it in three different levels each one being more powerful that its predecesor
Im looking foward to this game and i will do anything to try to preorder it, if not, i will surely buy it and play the crap out of it
@aoikagenazomax That because Smash Bros resolve around knocking you opponents. You can't do combos when you keep knocking them away. This game only heavy attacks knock them away like traditional fighting game. Super Smash Bros. is different it will only work with certain movesets at the right time and percentages.
@djmaster1994 i think this one focuses on hp... i really dont know but at first sight the only thing it takes from ssb is the 4 player action gameplay oh and the crossovers
