Shaun McInnis serves up a compelling review for Rayman Origins.
this is by far the best fast paced side scrolling platform I've ever played... you can choose to play valiantly, or trickily or just full speed ahead into the end of the level. If only recent sonic the hedgehog games would follow this exact principle...
This game is amazing in almost all aspects: it has amazing level design, a great soundtrack and it is beautiful and challenging. It is great to play alone and with others. The only thing it lacks is replay value, after I finished playing it, I really haven't touched it again.
Brilliant! The only game were i don't turn the music of, it's gorgeous!!!
Very difficult for me, but my 7 years old son beats me all the time.....
lol @ the interne explorer commercials. They have to advertise because it sucks compared to chrome and Firefox lol
This game is an absolute JOY to play!! Even my non-gamer gf loves it! Creativity of this level is SO refreshing. Thank you, Ubisoft!
WOW! This looks incredible and could spell the rebirth of mainstream 2d games. I've just seen this for the PC so am off to buy it right away. Good review btw.
There's only two things I hate about this game. The first is the Tricky Treasure levels. I hate that the camera follows the chest, not you. If you're not good enough with the jumps or fast enough, you die. The second is the sprint button. It feels too slow for me. Other than that, great game.
This game made me reminisce the glorious side scrolling games of the 1990s. Of course the graphics back then weren't as fantastic as the ones we have today :-)
I bought this yesterday for the equivalent of $45 from one our local gaming chains here in South Africa and I am already madly in love with it. It really is a total blast to play not to mention very funny and exquisitely charming. WOW! This is one of those games that came out of nowhere for me as It wasn't even on my radar. I played the original Rayman years ago on Playstation One and remember enjoying it but not particularly loving it. The sales rep at the shop, however, was gushing praises for Rayman Origins, so I thought why not give it a try. What a fantastic and enjoyable surprise! The last game that surprised me to this degree was ICO (still my number one game of all time), and how long ago was that game released? The art style and graphics are some of the best yet I've seen this year. In this day and age though, and if you are a serious gamer, that should mean very little as a game needs the game play to back up those shiny new pixels, and boy does Rayman pack a platforming punch. I am only a few hours in but if it continues in this vein its going to score an honoured place in my top 10 games of all time list (and in the process be the first 2D sidescrolling platformer to join this esteemed list of games). Quite frankly this is the platformer to beat for this generation of consoles.
I platinumed this game and beat this game inside and out but this game never gets old. My all time favorite 2d platformer to date.
i played the demo and couldnt beat it cause u die in one hit does the game itself change this or is it rly this hard?
I haven't played Rayman since Rayman Arena for the game cube. I'm actually very excited to get this game.
I want this game to sell well, but I'm worried it won't do well commercially. I want Rayman to continue.
Marking it down for requiring collectibles?! How did you survive in the 32bit era, boy?! Back in my day, you had to walk 15 miles to get 20 power stars, walk another 15 miles to find more frozen dragons, and walk ANOTHER 15 miles UPHILL to collect a bunch of puzzle pieces, and then walk ANOTHER 15 miles to... *passage of time* and that's why you kids today are all soft! Soft I say!
Nice 2d game, i can t help thinking about megaman X though :( ... Why doesn t capcom come with a good game like x4,x5,x6 but with this style NOW? -.- Anyway, back to Rayman, this looks really good, I will get it!
I hope you are watching Nintendo. This is the direction you should have been going from N64 to Wii-U.
Yep, I played the demo as well. The art is absolutely fantastic, and the game play is outstanding. Must get.
Metacritic and Gamespot are one: they are both fine fine CBS Interactive properties. That's a problem!
@Gelugon_baat I'd love to drop the number scores, but I really don't see that happening any time soon--for a variety of reasons.
This game is seriously amazing if you like any kind of plat-former. Better then any 2D side scrolling mario platformer to date. Seriously the art-style is gorgeous, every level looks different in someway.I honestly had more fun gaming this with my brother then I did playing Skyrim on my own, which was one of my most anticipated games of all time. Not saying this is a better game but I definitely am having a blast playing through it with my bro. Anyone considering getting this, please check it out.
Wished this has gimicky motion controls so that gamespot would give it a lower score than.... WHOOPS!!!
