On the eve of Dead Space 3's release, we hang out with the game's producer John Calhoun to walk us through the recently released demo to get some behind the scenes insight, chat about microtransactions and more!
This is true DEAD SPACE GAME with all the great facts of the game that made it great. I like express my satisfaction on the game with great soundtrack, good movement of character, nice heavy guns and great lightning of the environment .The only neglect I have is the crafting of the weapons which are bit complicated .A great improvement of a game, and maybe some best seller SCI-FI can learn some pointers At this time I don't want to say which, but some of you can figure it out.
33:42 "sovereign covereign" I said say whattttt?!?!?!?!?! lolllll THAT......was epic clepic. I mean epic classic!!!!!!!!! Oh shit is it ever contagious!!!!! ROFL!!!!!
Not gonna lie: I've been playing this part of the demo for hours: Weapon crafting. I can mix anything, or create versions of classics and old weapon and tune them my way. And testing them with Necromorphs makes me squeak with anticipation. I'll have to make my will stronger to not pay microtransactions for resources.
This game got ruined 2 days ago when they announced the following:
-microtransactions in single player game. If you can't beat the game just by skill, better open the wallet, dish out a few extra dollars, and buy some weapons and some ammo to help you through the level.
-The same crappy quality that exists for Xbox and PS3 will also be available on PC... but the top quality that can be achieved on performant PC's because PC's are better, will not be available to not make the Xbox and the PS3 users butthurt.
John Calhoun:
"And so the fire is RHGHWAAAAAH and we have GRRRAAAAH which is really cool."
One of the games I've really been looking forward to for the Vita. Now I just hope it's good.
Its good to hear the demo is a mash up of diff sections of the game. Hate the fact the the necros are shooting now. Not liking the new weapons system. The glitch was the highlight for me in that video. Hahha.
Fear 3 failed because Monolith did not make it. I believe Dead Space will not have this issue. Dead Space 3 was made by the same Devs that created the previouse Dead? Space games that everyone knows and loves. I truly have faith in veseral, and cant wait to play this masterpiece. :)
i played the demo. i love what they did to the game. the weapon upgrades are cool. this going to be a wicked game.
The graphics look great but I haven't even played the second game yet dammit, loved the first though.
If you loved the first one, you will be blown away by the second. Dead Space 2 is much better than Dead Space 1.
@Joe51187 No, don't listen to that. Dead Space and two are just as amazing, but both do a few things differently. You definitely need to play Dead Space 2, it's an absolutely fantastic game. Get ready for three. I also believe the graphics shown in the demo isn't the final look, close, but not what the end result is going to be.
We all know the co-op is stupid and no one wanted it but the weapon crafting nonsense pretty much breaks the game, at least what we've come to know as dead space. The crafting is why there is now universal ammo which just makes all the guns blend together and feel more generic rather than unique and nothing is really specialized anymore which in turn = generic and easier. I read an interview and the guy was saying your profile, items and weapons you create are sepperate from the game and since its drop in drop out like with borderlands you could potentially go play a later level with a fiend, make a bunch of way over powered weapons and then go back to an earlier level with those weapons and just mop up with them since there is now chapter select. There is also a weapons testing and crafting room outside of the campaign so you can build and test weapons for your campaign without any of the dangers or suspense of possibly making a shitty weapon you might have to deal with for a little while, again all of this just serves to make the game easier and easier and less and less dead spacey. i could go on and on about how much these changes have hurt the game play us true fans want.
@BuyaPC You're wrong dude. There are many fans who wanted a co-op component to the game. We just like the option of being able to choose whether or not you want to go it alone or with a friend.
@BuyaPC Hmm, interesting points there, I didn't know the ammo was shared until the demo and I agree it really takes something away, as does the testing room, of course we don;t want to screw up making awesome weapons but having the fear that you waste components would have been an immersive feature. I understand why they have included Co-op, I'm not that bothered about it, for me it needs to be a solo affair!
We only have a short while till this one hits the high street so keep our fingers crossed for a great end to the trilogy, I must admit though, I am a little nervous about what to expect.
@philcelica Depends on the screen you're playing on and how bright you have it set in the game settings. On default setting from both my TV and game, it was much darker than this, but still adequate for playing.
@wavelength121 @NTM23 @philcelica I know, but he mentioned 'too bright'. I believe he was referring to the look of how bright the environments were, and since it was too bright, that was due to the screen or game settings.
let me guess ... items that you can purchase with real money for the game ? suck my epic ass EA .
@20years Yes, but the price is in cents, not dollars, and it's small things like upgrades, for those that don't want to take the time to find this stuff on their own in-game. It being inessential to playing the game should make it readily apparent that this thing just doesn't matter. I mean, you'd truly have to be nit-picky to be bothered by such a thing.
As long as I can find what I need, I 'll get the game, if not no way. I loved the other two and would hate to miss out on this one.
@BladeStrike1234 @bakasora Tiny changes? Managing ammo for different weapons was one of the only parts of Dead Space that actually required thought and planning.
Absolutely loved Dead Space 1 & 2. I do hope that 3 will also be great, though I was hardly impressed by the demo.
@cyclode34 Yeah I agree, the demo was so not inspiring in any way. Yet, I do recall not liking the demo for DS2, and then loving the final product... Let's hope is the same deal with DS3, and the demo is just a poorly elected portion of the game.
@Micro_mas I pre-ordered the limited game @ GameStop & am getting 3 weapons plus a suit, all for the same price as buying a regular game not pre-ordering.And I agree, the complaints are silly.
Thanks,I needed that.
@Micro_mas Optional...what does that word mean, kiddo? =) So what if the casual players want to pay extra? It doesn't affect you in the slightest. Its not a competitve multiplayer game so your complaints are silly. Its not required to complete the game.
@BladeStrike1234 @Micro_mas Yeah, optional. You have the option to grind for hours upon hours or you can spend money to get through the game instantly. Neither sounds appealing to me.
