The gameplay is pretty bad.
Characters each have 24 moves each, 12 in air and 12 on ground. As flexible as this sounds, many moves are pointless because only a few are useful, except for Kratos and all the weapons he obtained from God of War. Radek has many guns, but the best one has infinite range, which you can use to snipe the other fighters; very discouraging for a beat-em up type game.
The walls are very annoying. You'll ocassionally bump into them, and sometimes lose track of where you are, if you aren't alone and getting attacked from every side.
What's the point of the Super Attacks? Sure to only gain points, but once you know someone has a level 3, you'll probably do your best to avoid that person; unless you are facing Parappa, then you'll die no matter where you are.
It's an interesting idea bringing playstation characters together, despite 1/5 of the cast not being developed or published by Playstation. This game still needs more work.
my biggest frustration so far, is the internet play is inconsistent. no matter how good my connection may be, if the host has a shitty one, i can't pick up weapons, or use my specials. other then that its pretty fun. I will say kratos is way overpowered as of right now though, he is strong, fairly quick, has a lot of range, and his specials are brutal. but i will say it is a hell of a lot of fun to play with.
Even though this game is gonna be compared to super smash bros (and a lot of people are comparing it to nintendo's hit fighter) it's not all that bad. i got to play it at new york comic con last weekend it it looked pretty damn good
The controls in the game feel a bit awkward. It feels like they changed things to make the game not feel like a complete Smash Bros clone. The things they changed makes the game feel a bit worse and I wish they could fix them and just make the game. Everyone thinks of it as Sony Smash Bros so why not just make that game and do it right instead of adding poor elements to make it a little different that it doesn't need.
The fanboy's are going to hate me for saying this but here it goes... First of all, yes I AM going to compare this to SSB. That being said PSASBR lacks depth, SSB has far more depth and intricate strategies due in large part to how it works. SSB is more of a skill based game, meaning you dont need to rely on the "final smash" in order to get a kill. This is an inherent fault for PSASBR because their are only 3 ways each character can get a kill, whereas in SSB there is almost an unlimited amount of ways to kill your opponent with a given character assuming that the person using them has at least a moderate level of skill. Also SSB has more attacks, which is sad because it utilizes 1 less button. Furthermore theres WAAAYYYYYYYYYY too much "blinking" aka invulnerability in PSASBR, if i knock a player down they SHOULD NOT be invincible until they get up, i should be able to juggle and combo them. I have a few other reasons, but im starting to ramble so meh...... Unless somehow I get proved wrong, I will not be getting this game. It simply lacks depth!
I don't know 2 of those 6 characters. I think there are more "iconic" play station characters that could be in game.
You know it would be easier to accept and enjoy the game if people admitted it is very much like smash, and in that note I don't think this game is going to get a 9.5 like smash did. Having said that the game does seem to have potential to become its own thing, just not right now, right now it could be fun and it depends on the amount of content they put in it (Let's hope it's not just arcade mode, versus mode, survival and training, but something more creative, again, like smash) Anyway, I have high hopes for this, I do accept it is an idea that feels stolen, but that happens all the time in this industry, what matters is that the game uses it to make something different
3 Like Dumb fanboys are gonna hate, but this game is awesome! It's addicting and very fast paced, I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning playing this with a friend. I encourage everyone to check it out, it's really good.
I don't know why All Stars and Smash Bros both can't exist on the market, they are both great games and make their fans happy. I am a fan of both.
If you enjoy one you will enjoy the other, fanboys are the only one's who lose because they let their bias (rather lack of owning a system) keep them from enjoying a good game.

Perfectly said, and thank you for being a gamer who vocalizes and encourages diversity in gaming loyalty. If I can have fun with a game, I don't care what system it's for. I'm a massive fan of the Smash series, but I have tons of nostalgia attached to the Sony lineup too. Toss in the fact that the game is actually good, and there ya go, a happy gamer. :D
it's so sad that sony tries to be like nintendo, the could own the TPS market with the last of us
its not smash brothers Nintendo already owns the martket for 4player brawl beatdowns..but this looks nice

@bakasora that is the worst example of a ps exclusive, uncharted, metal gear solid, infamous, are all games that sell very well
@bakasora Doubt it. Not only has this game been publicized like heck, but it's a freaking compilation of all of Sony's notable characters in the vain of Smash Bros. Plus it's doing a closed beta right now, so that's even more people who know about it now.

I felt the same way when they were playing it at the E3. I was yawning and dozing off during the whole presentation. It tries to be like SSBB, but it's not. A lot of the problem is at least 1/2 the characters aren't even interesting. I still can't figure out why PaRappa is in this, since he's not even a fighter. At least in SSBB, all the characters have fought at some time in other games. If Sony had use less characters (maybe 10-12) and made this into a 3D fighting game, I'd probably would be more interested. At this point, I'd probably have more fun playing the mediocre Rag Doll Kung Fu game then what Sony has offered so far.

You seem to get pretty butthurt whenever someones bashes the game. Its a SSB clone, deal with it.
@ARKphoenix2k @Albaficas And he's a major XBox player as well, he doesn't even own a PS3. But we were both impressed at how well done it was.
@ARKphoenix2k @Albaficas Have you even played the beta? I played it with another skeptical friend of mine and the only major similarities are that it's a mascot-compilation and an arena fighter, and has randomly-generated items that anyone can use.
Been playing it quite a bit Kratos is a bit overpowered,I do love the crossplay i like playing my Vita and this game is very good uses it.Graphic wise it looks nearly on both platforms,the effects are slightly lower on the vita but still very faithful to the Ps3 version.
1 Like This game would have been so cool back in the olden days! When folks met up at a mates house and could play 4 player in the same room.. Nowhere near enough games can do that now.

Can't beat a gaming marathon with buddies until the stupid hours of the morning.. Kicking the grapes out of your mates on this whilst they're sitting next to you would be quality :D
1 Like @warhawk-geeby I don't know about you. But last time I checked my friends still play shared/split screen games still. Sure very few of them are from the current gen. But that doesn't stop us from getting together to play the games that did support it from the last couple decades. Just because we get newer tech doesn't mean you are forced to stop playing your older stuff and get rid of it >.>

@Mc_Trickz @warhawk-geeby how is the internet preventing you from visiting a friend? if anything it has made it super easy to arrange get togethers with my friends so we can play the shared/split screen games from days or yore.
@Wula_ @warhawk-geeby Some games only have support for onine co op and not split screen because of the internet,for example binary domain,you can't play in split screen but co op online is ok,and even more games,it's getting ridiculous really,i know you can go to any friends home play some games but people prefer stay at their own homes instead of be with friends just like the old days
It would be nice to be playing this but thanks to the mess up with the UK new PSN store it hasn't updated and isn't even the new one because of problems. :/ I was on it for about 2 minutes until they took it down and back to the old one but it still hasn't updated with the new stuff this week...grrrr
@ziggyww I got both the Vita and PS3 version yesterday - have you checked in the Exclusive section of Playstaion Plus? It is still there for me now........
