It is really sad and pathetic to read such vulgar & pointless racist comments posted on sites like GameSpot, or anywhere else on the internet, for that matter.
Why such racist hatred? "Sleeping Dogs" is just a video game. If you don't like it, then you are entitled to expressing your own opinion, but try keeping it to being just about the game itself. Why did you have to go there with offensive bigotry like that?
Be mindful of other people online: you are not the only person who posts on GameSpot, and your racist comment against Asians is heartless & rude. You really should be ashamed of yourself for typing that utter nonsense.
Try to grow up and try to mature your mind-set, into one that is more accepting, tolerant of other people different from you. I mean, seriously.
by this and GTA V coming up sometimes in future the story of sandbox gaming will be too hot for now!
the combat system in this game is essentially the same one that was in Arkham City/Asylum. If you liked the combat in those games then you will probably like this. And there was no "blocking" in the Arkham games and the combat didn't suffer from it.
@pfizer77 Well I gotta tell you, the name of this game is Sleeping Dogs; not Batman Arkham Asylum or otherwise. Yes, the game borrows a similar fighting mechanic that was inspired from that game but its different. This is not Batman Arkham City with a new coat of paint. The game pushes this concept of you being a very adept martial artist with just his fits and feet to rely on when engaged in melee combat. Batman on the other hand has a range of tools and utilities at his disposal to go against enemies. Therefore, if they're depicting the main character to be such a person that relies so heavy on the Martial Arts it would make sense if they added more depth to his defensive capabilities than to just counter. They really only give you one option in dealing out defense in the game which is sad. It would've been adequate if they even added a dodging component but to just have one action for defense (countering) is pretty sad and disappointing IMO.
if you liked Arkham City/Asylum combat then you will like this games combat. There was no blocking in the arkham games either.
It's such a shame that this game doesn't have blocking. And when I say blocking I'm talking about being able to deflect or to reduce damage by holding your arms up. One of the reasons why its disappointing because as it shows in this video, you're constantly getting attack and taking hits unless you push the counter button. I wish they added more to the defense of this game.
Despite that, the combat looks very good.
This is so not HK, if there is a festival, you wont have to walk because there will be a sea of people to push you.
Looks promising and quite a lot of fun. I'm a Hong Kong born native and I'm kinda concerned how big the city will be in the game. And there's one thing severely lacking in the game for it to be realistic: Hong Kong in real life is WAY more crowded than that in the streets. The game needs to have a lot more NPC civilians for it to have that authentic Hong Kong feel.
the weird thing is this older trailer looks better in my opinion.
Hopefully it will be good, but to be honest I think it could use another year for polish. I also wish they could get the combat to be as smooth as the combat in the Arkham series.
Square Enix, just please make sure the next Deus Ex is coming. This sort of stuff is a waste of time!
I don't know what Square Enix did ? but , they did it good ! I already have
this game paid in full !
I'm gonna keep an eye on this game. It's looks very interesting. I was actually engaged for a moment during the cut scenes which NEVER happens in these sandbox games. LOL I'm not convinced about the combat yet however. It seems a little clunky; the characters are sliding all over the place. Guess I'll have to wait and see...
Too bad GTA series is all about big U.S. centrals. There is a very good opening for games like this, places we've never see in games atleast open world. Hope to see something based on Europe as well, Moscow or Paris would be pretty awesome.
Very few games get me interested.
But this is one of them. Looking forward to this improvement upon GTA's formula.
@Gorakka its not a improve to gta... its true crime thats been buyed by square, it had 2 games on ps2 its more a police thing than a thief
I wonder what areas they include. Central and WanChai on the island would be cool and then maybe Mongkok in the new territories.......
as a person living in hong kong i can see how some details in the game are not quite realistic
but if i cast aside my personal experiences then this looks like a pretty good game
Did you see the number of NPCs on the streets... it was totally crowded and fantastic... and atmospheric
i am waiting for this game like a maniac. i think it'll be the most promising title of the year 2012 after MAX PAYNE, or who knows it might be better than MAX PAYNE. i love these free roam action packed games.. i'm waiting
LOL guy is literally killing people throwing them over rails to get away from you yet he stays to watch you spend 5 minutes fighting some other guys
