A game that that could have been great, but small details impair this game compared to other shooters.

The Bottom Line:
"Check your bargain bin"

Spec Ops the line is a 3rd person shooter set in Dubai. The game jumps straight into the story as the commander of a squad goes on a reconnaissance mission locating the man that saved his life along time ago. I'm going to start with pros of this game. The story is one of them. The story feels lacking at first but in the end it will make sense why. The game allows you to make choices that affect the outline of the story. These choices are cool, but the game doesn't always make it clear your making a decision. I played through 3/4ths of the game wondering were the options where, just to find out that I had been making them the entire time. The story is the main reason to get the game.

The game play itself is decent. Its a basic third person shooter that plays alot like socom 4 and gears of war. Unfortunately the game doesnt feel as refined as other 3rd person shooters. The cover system can be unresponsive, and the "roady run" (for lack of a better term) is stubborn and can get you into more trouble than its worth. The AI, surprisingly, are very helpful and do make you feel like your part of a squad. You don't micromanage your squad mates, you simply tell them who to kill. This makes the game still feel tactical, because it is, yet extremly simple and easy to play. weapons are really fun to use. You will use assault rifles , automatic shotguns, gnernade launchers, and sniper rifles. List goes on. The gameplay is decent, but small flaws keep it from being great.

Presentation:
The set peices and graphics are great. If you like a good looking game this is one of them. The Good Audio and visuals help to really tie the story together and make it truely worth the play through. The game does a good job of changing setting , but you will see alot of sand.

Multiplayer:

The multiplayer is 4 v 4 and the community is basically dead. The gameplay is not as refined as other online shooters so their really isnt any reason to play this game online. ITs interesting i guess if you can find a game, but it feels like a bad 3rd person version of COD as far as online goes.

If you want a beutiful game with a good story pick this up at a DISCOUNTED price. I payed $30 and it was worth it, but no more than that. I would wait a year when the game is $15 and play it then.
